Digital used to cost more than physical games so I am not so sure. I guess this was to protect physical games retailers. But all bets seem to be off now. Hopefully this model will ensure more discounts on physical retail games

Of course time will tell. But the Switch brand is pretty strong. I am pretty confident this will still sell very well.

Most of the mass market does not care or even know this. The Switch 2 is not all that expensive. And you have to consider this console will last you many years... so breaking it down it's pretty decent value.

Inflation was lower under Trump. Biden messed it up. And bear in mind until 2024 Democrats had been in power for 12 out of the last 16 years.... At some point you have to stop blaming Trump for everything.

The PS5 is not the massive seller it was during the first three years. We are not really comparing apples with apples here.

This price would have been set in the U.S way befiore the Trump administration. If anything blame the rising inflation post covid with the previous administration where all things have simply risen in price.

I doubt it. And who says what an ideal mass adoption price is in the first place. People said the original Switch was expensive for what it was.

Things go up. Videogames have been pretty much untouched. I have just pre ordered Mario Kart World for £70 in the U.K... £10 less than it's actiual retail. I will never sell it and pretty sure I will get my £70 worth.

The issue these days is people no the cost of everything but the vale of nothing.

I think this is more Nitendo PushSquare trying to take the shine off it. Most regualr folks will by hyped for this.

We seem to listen to core hobby gamers on niche internet sites and YouTubers with very few subscribers or views. And seem to think it's everyone else.

The Switch 2 is going to sell like hot cakes despite all this faux outrage.

I have played the Wind Waker to death so not bothered either way. Just give me some more new games for the Switch... Nintendo.

I have no issues with the new console. This was never ever going to be a PS5 or Series X. But it will have Nvidia's AI powered DLSS tech. I do not buy Nintendo consoles for third party games, if you get some than that is the cherry on top imho.

I think we will all be very surprised... not me... I know the Switch 2 will do very well. To give an example. My sister has the original and plays Animal Crossing. She is the most casual gamer you could imagine. She knew about the Switch 2 because of the news channel on the Switch channel. She has just gone out and pre ordered one... Lets just see...

I have owned every Nintendo system since the NES at launch... I am well aware of their history and ups and downs.

Look at the list of the top selling games on the Switch and ask yourself does it matter?

Nintendo's own first party titles will always push it's hardware sales. Not sure why you would think otherwise.

You are so indicative of the Switch market as a whole. Nobody cares outside of core hobby gamers. Most will just see Cyberpunk available for the Switch 2.... buy it and enjoy.

I love these new cases. And it's makes sure people know it's a new system. But each to their own.

The OLED Switch was $349 at launch and the Switch 2 is going to cost $449... so it's a $100 more. The Switch 2 is a lot more powerful, has a dock with a cooling fan, has a larger screen and more memory.

If anything it's the Switch OLED that's a little overpriced imho..

We can't all have stuff exactly made for our own personal tastes. I have no interest in the mouse controls so will not use them. How much more expensive then the original joycos are these new ones?

I have just ordered two bundles from my local Currys electrical store in the U.K.... One for my sister one for me. Both with the base console, a copy of Mario Kart World and a new Switch 2 pro controller.. both £545 each... Paid in full for them...

And I still have my Nintendo invite for next week.. so my daughter is sorted too..... Expensive times...

The difference is massive if you know what to look for. But on games with more cartoon look graphics it can be difficult. The lighting is night and day. Also if you view the uncompressed fottage on a 4K display you will see birds flying on the opening track, and clouds moving and evaporating on others. Add this to the much higer polygon count of the karts and racers... everything just looks so more solid and the water effects are insane. I think we need to see this on a 4K OLED dispaly and the differences will be stark. You also have to consiider you are getting all of this on a massive open world map. The fact the game is doing all this with scale and scope of this game rather than single tracks is mind boggling.

I think the word "Might" has far more weight than your actual coment. I am not supporting the guy. But to honestly suggest that they are not all corrupt is a trick by the media.

I doubt very much if the Switch hardware price will increase as it looks like the software is going to compensate. Also Nintendo have made a bold move to price digital versions of games less than physical. Now of course this should be the case as the production, logistical and cartridge/box costs are zero. Now if this model is to be the one adopted by Nintendo for all software then the protection retailers got from less competition from digital games will be gone. And this will also have the potential to push physical prices down as well.

But we are going to have to wait an see. Thus far all I can see is a knee jerk reaction to all this.

Consoles are a luxury. But some are suggesting that they should be priced like everyday essential items. Sounds like pure entitlement to me. The Seitch 2 is a huge upgrade over the original. And the dock has to have a cooling fan... how people thought this was not going to push the cost up a little is beyond me.

I think people are getting to worked up over this story in the U.S. We are still two months away from launch so who cares when the pre-orders go live as long as you get one. I very much doubt the price will increase. And you guys have been paying over the odds for regular things like groceries and gasoline for the last four years... Now a console might go up a little and some people are losing their minds all of a sudden.

U.K.... I was pretty surprised to be honest.

This is the Mario Kart game I always wanted. The amount of times I have been driving round the Mario Kart 8 deluxe tracke annd thought.... What is beyond the course. Just so excited to drive around and explore the Mario world. And even better I just got an invire from Nintendo to pre order a console next week... June the 5th is pretty close too.

It looked fine to me. I find the Switch OLED not that great on lower brightness settings. However none of us have seen the screen on the Switch 2 as yet. The best thing about the Switch OLED screen was the size. A lot of people confuse the vivid setting as better quality.

I was looking at the Playstation Portal at a friends house. The screen looked just as good as the Switch OLED screen.

Good luck getting one at launch. I got my Nintendo invite yesterday, I think I will go for the standard edition. And buy four of five games at launch. And that new pro controller. I think I will get a 512 GB micro SD card too.

The people complaining are there to simply complain. Games production costs have gone up massively. We all wanted the incressed visuals etc... but forgot that comes at a price.
