Not really sure how to feel about this debacle. I side with Nintendo that detailed icons look much better on the main Switch menu, but they start to look dense and scattered when they're ordered on the grid. I like the Switch UI, but this is one part where I wish the original design would have been a bit more featured.
The only way this makes any sense to me is if Nintendo outsourced their graphic design stuff for My Nintendo rewards, but I thought they didn't? Odd lol.
@MH4 @RupeeClock I've reached 9.9 with two different characters. They way it works is that you need to have already reached 9.9 before you get to the boss, as beating the boss will award you however many points you got up to a final total of 9.8 (Ex: 9.2 before boss, +1.0, 9.8 after boss). The amount of tickets you use does not affect your chances of reaching 9.9, outside of dying in and of itself being a determining factor. However, if you die in the process (which is likely) and do not use a ticket, it does lower your chances of reaching level 9.9 because doing so reduces your level.
I was interested in the GO Plus on release, but I never found anywhere it was available, online or offline, and I didn't really get into Pokémon GO until two years after release. I'm picking up the Let's Go bundle today so I'll try using the Poke Ball Plus, but I'm interested in the Ranger...
@RadioHedgeFund That's unfortunate, because, although I personally don't have an Apple device or smartwatch, a Pokémon GO app for smartwatches seems like a genius idea. A shame they had to screw it up.
Not very wise to kill Virtual Console branding after having developed it for over 10 years. However, if Nintendo actually supplies the same amount of games for this service as they have in the past, but makes them all free under the online subscription, I have no issue. I just don't trust that Nintendo will actually do this, especially since it seems like each game that should be pretty easy to port is being turned into a netcode project.
I never fell victim to achievement points because I mostly only had Nintendo systems, and still mostly do. However, I think they can be a great system if used right. Big if. It can be a little reward that adds to the gameplay experience, but only when matched with real content. The problem is, developers often just add these achievements as useless goals without ever curating the gameplay to achieve them.
I have a 64 GB SD card my Switch can "borrow" until I need to get a larger one, and I don't think I'll fill this one up fast since I purchase hard copies of games whenever possible (but economically beneficial, won't go for a hard copy that's on 100% markup from the digital). I'll probably fill up on screenshots before anything, which I can thankfully transfer to a computer or hard drive.
Even though I don't want to pay $70 for 200 GB or $230 (!) for 400 GB, I can say that SD card prices have gone way done in the last few years, and that's really good. Maybe by the time I really do need to purchase an SD card, they'll be a lot cheaper than they are now.
@TheWhiteFalcon Got it. I found a link as well. Typically I'd be the one to go for physical releases, but since it's $40 USD and the digital release is on sale for $15, I think I might go for the digital this time.
I was a bit disappointed at first, but I became more pleased as I watched the video. The game might have some frame rate drops, but it has no obvious stutters. Secondarily, this game is a fast-paced game where you are moving around the field, so the compromises they made seem to be the ones that affect the gameplay the least. And after I heard that they had to port the game from ground up with no Switch Unreal 3 support yet, I became incredibly impressed.
Miiverse had core design flaws that made it a terrible social media in the first place. It's integration with the games, like in Wara Wara Plaza, Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario Maker and more was actually good since you were using it from a casual perspective, not trying to go and find people to play with or have interesting discussions. I think it's kind of lazy how Nintendo isn't patching the Miiverse-integrated but not dependent features like replay upload instead of just killing them.
I don't mind the subscription service, but it better cost less than the current services out there, because it definitely offers less. Besides, I don't mind losing discounts and such in trade for paying less for online services. The discounts are made to make you spend more money in the first place.
Being loaned a game is completely ridiculous. I don't really mind if the price of the service is cheaper than that of Nintendo's competitors, but it better be as this service seems a bit void of benefits compared to the others.
I will really, really miss the 3D (I practically never use 2D, at all), but realize that gimmicks, even if they are great ones, can't be played twice. Maybe we'll see it again someday as a new feature, or an optional add-on with price drops or something.
I used to think Nintendo shorts supply because they want to create publicity articles and create a craze about the product before most can actually buy it, but it seems I'm wrong, Nintendo is as inherently dumb as we think they are.
Kind of cool yeah and great that it's free, but why kill SwapNote only to release another doodling title that looks almost exactly the same. Why couldn't they re-enable SpotPass for SwapNote and give it an update?
I don't see how Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again, Petit Computer or The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition (if that last one counts) didn't make the list. Like, IMO, those games were great!
While this is true, I think if you are going to throw stones, you should throw them at how loosely the Pokemon IP is used. Like, even Pokemon GO is extremely similar to Niantic's Ingress.
@Sakura Okay! Oh, alright. He sounds somewhat naughty! He's an animal, so I guess he can't help himself LOL. Would you make an account for your cat on the above app?
@Sakura LOL! I wonder if he got it because it's warm. Occasionally our cat will do silly stuff like opening cabinets (at his height). Our cat is old, but not that old! Would the treatment be too dangerous or too expensive?

Don't forget Xenoblade Chronicles 2! They released a bunch of content and then basically an entire game with the Expansion Pass.

This review doesn't do the game justice, but maybe some people had different experiences than me.
Re: Review: NORTH (Switch eShop)
Would say it sounds interesting enough for my time but not my money, but since they are only charging $3, I may give it a shot.
