Astro Boy: Omega Factor and Guardian Heroes are the big ones for me. GH has a good port playable on modern Xboxes, so it's available enough, at least, but Astro, especially, would benefit from a port. The game is lovely, but pushes the poor GBA a bit too far, so just an emulated release isn't ideal.
I played DDLC at launch being almost in the dark as to what was up. The game opens with an unavoidable disclaimer, but that's all I knew. Best way to play the game.
I've got at least a measure of nostalgia for Red Alarm. I wouldn't mind revisiting it. I never owned one, but the store demo had that one running, and it was a good hardware showcase in short bursts.
The studio makes some absolutely brilliant remakes and a great new Crash game... and then gets "rewarded" by bring pulled into a support studio for an utterly bland and soulless franchise. Activision is trash.
I'm rather surprised that the PSP is so high up there. It was good, but I didn't realize how commercially successful it was, when the Switch of all things hasn't overtaken it in 4 years.
@BloodyMurder Is it sad that I check their Discord every day in hopes that somehow today is the day they announce a launch window for Freedom Planet 2?
I tried it, but it just had me keep doing the same uninteresting tasks over and over, and I just couldn't be bothered. I know they often say "it gets good after x hours" but it can be really hard to get through those opening hours when you have limited time and there are so many more immediately entertaining options.
I did a diff in the file linked to on the video, and all it does is comment out an if block in the Mario blinking code and replace it with setting the selected case of the node variable that's passed in with a constant with a value of zero.
I'm not super familiar with the code, but, ya know, that doesn't look like redoing the physics to me. It looks like it just modifies a blink animation, so the actual patch has to be somewhere else.
After recompiling, it runs at 30, just as before.
Edit:
Found it in another one of Unreal's videos. The patch is called 60fps_interpolation_wip_nightly.patch, which can be applied with Git.
I played this one on PC (via Gamepass) and I absolutely loved how the bike controlled. There's a real sense of speed, and pulling off difficult turns can be absolutely thrilling.
I ended up dropping, though. It gets really hard after a while, and when the criteria to unlock the next track goes from number of crashes (which is pretty manageable on a careful run) to strict time limits, the difficulty got to be too much for me to want to continue.
I'm not talking about stuff like eggos (those are barely waffles...) I mean the good kind. Crispy, freshly ironed, and topped with something wonderful like fresh strawberries and whipped cream. Or chicken. I'd never say no to a good chicken & waffles.
But then again, you can bake stuff like blueberries into pancake batter and have it turn out really well... Pancakes are not as good, but they have their upsides.
I'll be really glad if they port it to Switch. Freedom Planet is one of my favorite games, and I was actually thinking of picking up a GPD Win to play it on the go. The last that I hear (prior to this article) was that their exporter, Chowdren, didn't yet support the Switch. I haven't found any new information on it, but maybe they know something that I don't. Conversely, Freedom Planet 2 should be easy, since they're building that one in Unity instead of Clickteam Fusion (and they've talked about the limitations of Clickteam Fusion a number of times)
I only play a few mobile games, and Mario Run is definitely one that made it viable. The game has no micro transaction BS (at least in the content that seems even remotely interesting, which is the main campaign) Just a reasonable buy-once model. It does kind of feel gross when I step into parts other than the campaign, when it wants me to do utterly inane things for... stuff I don’t care about, but the core game is fun, and it’s entertaining enough to retry a stage for the next level of purple coins when I’ve got a few minutes to spare. The Rayman Jungle Run game is along the same lines. I guess there, they have the “Unlock all levels” thing, but there’s no BS to speak of if you play it like a normal game. It also works fantastically on a phone screen, since it’s just timed taps.
Neither matches up to a console game, but they don’t have to. I can slip my phone in my pocket without thinking about it. The Switch? I need a coat for that thing.

Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online SNES Service With Three More Titles
@dustinprewitt
Those games are too big for Nintendo Switch Online, because I remember seeing ads for Ballz 3D and Lester the Unlikely.

Alright! The perfect machine for all Picross, all the time!

Re: Nintendo Fears A Popular ROM Website Could Make A Comeback
Yes. Emulator sites caused Nintendo irreparable harm by letting people access games that Nintendo won't sell them.

Re: Soapbox: Game Genres Are Broken
@Slowdive So, you do not like the term Metroidvania, eh? You are prudent, and save often.
Re: Rumour: Sega Will Re-Release Sonic 3 & Knuckles In A New Sonic Collection
MJ died in 2009, but the Sonic 3 & Knuckles for sale on Steam right now was released in 2011, so it might be a bit more complicated than that.
But either way, I'll be happy to play an official modern port of Sonic 3& Knuckles. It always was my favorite of the series.

Activision is trash.

Re: Mini Review: Picross S6 - A Bold New Direction? A Fresh Take? Eat Your Picross, Son
Did they ever re-add "try it out" mode? This has been sorely lacking since Picross DS
Re: Random: Story Of Seasons' Photo Mode Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things
Maybe I'm weird, but I mostly noticed that it looks like the lady in the leg photo is being impaled by the back of the chair.

Re: Feature: How Takara Brought SNK's Arcade Fighters To The Humble Game Boy
I never even knew about these, despite owning both a Game Boy and a Neo Geo Pocket Color. The latter was where I played my SNK games on the go.

Re: Neo Geo Pocket Classic The Last Blade Lands On Switch Today
I picked up the earlier ones, but I'm hoping for one of the non-fighting games at this point, like Cardfighters or Sonic Pocket Adventure.

It's just a murderboner. What's wrong with that?
Everything?
Re: Sonic's Much-Loved Social Media Guy Is Moving Into A New Position At Sega
Sounds like he's getting a big promotion, even if his new job will be a little less directly interacting with the audience than a Twitter feed.
Hopefully he keeps up the good work (even if different work) in the new role.
Re: The Super Mario 64 PC Port Just Got A 60fps Patch
So, how would one actually apply this?

Sure it does, if you really like the blue spheres game.
Re: Cuphead Dev Explains Why 'The Delicious Last Course' DLC Has Been Delayed
I look forward to watching a longplay of this on YouTube when it comes out.
I played part of Cuphead, got stuck, YouTubed the rest, and regret nothing.
Re: Side With Pancakes Or Waffles In The Upcoming Splatoon 2 Splatfest
Waffles are the blatantly correct choice.

Or chicken. I'd never say no to a good chicken & waffles.

...the correct answer is still waffles.
Re: Video: The 26 Best Game Boy Advance Games of All Time
Omitting Astro Boy: Omega Factor is a huge oversight. That game is easily my favorite on the system, and one of the best, period.
