Re: New Super Mario Bros. 2 Global Coin Total Surpasses 50 Billion

grumblegrumble

In order to make the whole Coin Total thing more legit and fun, Nintendo should donate a million dollars to a global charity of some sort when a pre-set total was achieved, now that would get people playing a little more

P.S. And it wouldn't feel like a total waste of my 2 days off it it was all for a good cause hehe

Re: Feature: 20 Years of Mario Kart

grumblegrumble

I remember playing Super Mario Kart on the Super NES with my Rumble Pak installed lol... Great game, great fun! I also love Diddy Kong Racing You should include similar games in another review, that game is so underrated! Anyways, I haven't purchased MK7 yet because I've been too busy playing all my other wonderful 3DS games, including Kid Icarus: Uprising and NSMB2, but its on the horizon that's for sure! Can't wait to dig in!

Re: Review: Abyss (DSiWare)

grumblegrumble

I got this, and I kinda agree with the review but i would give it more a 6/10 or 5/10 score. It's okay, not great, and on my 3DS XL the screen looks extra choppy (I know that's supposed to be the design of the game but it looks a little like overkill on my system.) Also, no extra content besides the 12 missions is a bad thing these days. Its a good download if you have $2 to blow and wanna play something new, but don't expect huge replay value.

Re: Bookstore Dream

grumblegrumble

This actually looks kinda fun (since I'm a writer and an avid book reader.) Plus, I really did wanna own my own bookstore someday.. lol

Re: Review: Crazy Chicken Pirates (DSiWare)

grumblegrumble

I mean, REALLY. How hard is it to make a suitable shooting game these days? You'd think Nintendo would release Duck Hunt as a VC release (where the stylus could be used as the gun, perhaps, or the circle pad.) I would totally go for that. This? Chickens? I understand Nintendo wants family friendly titles, but this is ridiculous.

Re: Review: VectorRacing (3DS eShop)

grumblegrumble

At $1.99, I might have thought about it, but it's overpriced for the content as you describe. I see that the e-shop lists it as "downloadable software" instead of "dsiware", is this what they are calling dsiware now or is this really a retail cart available to download on the cheap?

Re: Nintendo Download: 23rd August 2012 (North America)

grumblegrumble

Downloaded the Abyss on my new 3DS XL tonight and its ok for $2, the graphics can get a little blotchy and pixelated, not sure if that's supposed to be part of the game's look and feel or if it's just a cheaply produced title, but I like the concept. I really want more virtual console games, but it appears as if we may not get any for quite some time, which makes me sad. Here's hoping we get Demon Training here in the U.S. at some point for e-shop download!

Re: Nintendo Power Magazine Will End With December Issue

grumblegrumble

I remember receiving the very FIRST issue of Nintendo Power as a child because I was a previous free subscriber of Nintendo Fun Club News.. I remember there was a Zelda Adv of Link II issue shortly after with maps for that new NES game. It's so sad to see such a magazine go. After all, it's been around most if not all of my life!

Re: Nintendo Power Magazine Looks Set to Shut Down

grumblegrumble

Maybe Nintendo isn't renewing the magazine because a) they want to make it an in-house-only magazine again (or create a new magazine in-house or otherwise) or b) Nintendo feels it can provide better news and information, reviews in their own (biased) 3DS e-Shop and Wii U channels.

Re: Nintendo Power Magazine Looks Set to Shut Down

grumblegrumble

As a subscriber of the original Nintendo Fun Club News back in the 80's (which was the pre-cursor to Nintendo Power), I am greatly saddened... Why are they not interested in renewing the magazine? Have sales dropped off? What's the reason? I just don't get it. At any rate, I am really really sad about this...

Re: Review: New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS)

grumblegrumble

Purchased my physical copy at Gamestop yesterday and it's an amazing game. I'm already on World 6, so, almost done going through it, but I want to unlock Luigi to help in gathering of more coins when I go through it again later. Good game!! Well worth the score!

Re: Reaction: Nintendo's Steady Start in Retail Downloads

grumblegrumble

I'm sure alot of Mario fanatics, like myself, wanted the PHYSICAL cartridge/box combo (for the same price, who wouldn't?) over the downloaded copy. You get the box art, and a physical cartridge you can access at any time, that won't hog up half your SD cart. You can always let a friend borrow your cartridge or you can trade it in for cash later, something a downloaded copy can't do. So that's why downloads for NSMB2 aren't staggering, and also, wasnt Demon Training out before NSMB2?

Re: New Super Mario Bros. 2 Typo Isn't So Golden

grumblegrumble

I totally missed it because I wanted to hurry up and unlock Coin Rush mode today! LOL I just purchased a retail NSMB2 and played through the first world and noticed that. I'm a huge editor at large to all who know me, but I didn't notice it either. Must have been Mario Madness lol

Re: Iwata: Nintendo Won't Deceive With DLC

grumblegrumble

I absolutely hate the idea of paying $40+ tax for a new game and having to shell out more $$$ later for unlockable levels. That's a shame to me. They should offer them up for free. $40 in this economy for one game is way too much for many families out there, including my own. (But I will still buy NSMB2 at some point, just not soon.)

Re: Review: New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS)

grumblegrumble

It seems like they could've been a tad bit more innovative with this game. While copying previous game levels and 'successes' is okay, I think being innovative and moving in a new direction (like SM3DL) is essential! This will probably knock the score down for me, from a 9/10 to a 7/10, but I'm sure it's a great game and will be enjoyed by millions.

Re: Review: Touch Battle Tank 3D (3DS eShop)

grumblegrumble

I'm sure in the development stages it sounded good at the time, but the implementation seems to leave much to be desired. I would love it if Atari would release a 3DS version of Battle-Tank or whoever owns the original. Can we put the shovel away, already?

Re: Commodore 64 Celebrates 30th Birthday

grumblegrumble

I remember my parents buying me a Commodore c64 back when i was a little kid... I thought "this is no fun!" and i had them return it to get me an Atari 7800 with lots of games instead. lol! Plus backwards compatibility to 2600 games! SO I still have that Atari and I now have over 200 games!
