Re: 3DS XL Coloured Charging Cradles Sold Out On Club Nintendo

grumblegrumble

@C-Olimar Not so. Video games contain chips which include games to play. This "charging cradle" is useless, just a flat piece of plastic for the system to sit in while it charges. It doesn't even speed up charging or anything, so, again, it's pretty useless. How much do you think 500 coins on the Club Nintendo website is worth? If we assume 5 coins per game you download, going at $5 a game, that means you're paying $100 for a piece of plastic. You can buy the cradle for $19 (someone said above) online. In fact, NONE of the rewards are really worth it. I don't mean to sound ungrateful because rewards are nice n' all, but I would much rather download a game for coins than buy a piece of useless plastic.

Re: Milon's Secret Castle

grumblegrumble

This was one of those games that I got as a kid from our local VHS Movie Rental store, I lost it, forgot to return it years later once I found it, so my original NES copy still has "Blockbuster Video Game Rental" on the side of it. LOL. That was like over 20+ years ago. I know that my parents probably paid a fortune since I lost it (to Blockbuster to replace it) but I still own this, still play it occasionally, and I have to say its definitely a fun game if you stick with it. B- for me!

Re: Angry Bunnies

grumblegrumble

I bought Angry Birds as a 3DS cartridge (the collection) and I played so much Angry Birds (and finished the game) that I don't think I can stomach another one. However, let's see how this one is different. Is it just bunnies instead of birds?!

Re: Arcade Classics 3D

grumblegrumble

What games are included? Hrm. The other "arcade collection" I bought, also in 3D, I think I played about 2-3 times before forgetting about it. Hrm.

Re: Review: Clu Clu Land (Wii U eShop / NES)

grumblegrumble

Bland? For kids who are addicted to modern games and who compare everything else to them, of course this is bland. To me, it's a little treasure from my childhood. And Nintendo needs to release this in the U.S. on 3DS VC. Great little gem!

Re: Review: Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (Wii U eShop / NES)

grumblegrumble

@element187 I totally agree And thanks for remembering! I remember the number was listed in one of the later issues of Nintendo Fun Club News (the one with Zelda II on the cover) I remember salivating over that article because the game hadn't come out yet. I really like the glitches in this game, too. There was a book I bought once about Nintendo game glitches and there are quite a few in Zelda II (that will also get you stuck in places!)

Re: Review: Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (Wii U eShop / NES)

grumblegrumble

When Zelda II came out, I remember me pulling every excuse out of the book to make my parents go buy it for me. They did, and I played it and played it that Summer until my fingers were sore. My cousin Andrea and I even made our own Zelda II maps (complete with colored map pencils and stickers.) I have such fond memories of this game. I actually BEAT it in about 3 months, but that was with nonstop playing day and night and calling the Nintendo Game Tips phone number a few times (anyone else here old enough to remember that?) A classic game, well deserving of a 10/10 for me! Great graphics, sound, dungeons, magic spells and... the final few battle scenes will take your breath away. I don't wanna give the ending away but please play this game and win it just to see who you fight! I love the ending credits music, too. Very addictive game

Re: Review: Galaga (Wii U eShop / NES)

grumblegrumble

Galaga may be "old" as the reviewer states, but without it, many games we know and love today would never have been possible without it's paramount success back in the day. A wonderful game, too! 10 out of 10 for me. I always loved this game as a child in the arcades, and I enjoy it today on my 3DS, my original NES cartridge of this very game variant and my Atari system.

Re: Review: 10-in-1: Arcade Collection (3DS eShop)

grumblegrumble

I'll be buying this! As a huge Atari fan (who owns both a 2600 and 7800 plus around 150 Atari games) I am DEF getting this Even if they are knock-offs. Need to support the developer so more games will show up like this To all you kids who think it's boring, you dont know what you're missing and we owe the world to these old school games. We wouldn't be where we were today in regards to video games without them.

Re: Review: Spelunker (3DS eShop / NES)

grumblegrumble

Hey now... kind of harsh for such a classic game. When I was a kid, and the NES was huge, and video rental shops started renting out games for 3-4.99 a whack, Spelunker was most often the one nobody wanted to rent, so I was stuck with it sometimes, and I really began to like it after awhile. With the advanced VC features and ability to create a restore point, this game should be much easier these days. I love the simple graphics and sound, takes me back to the good old days... I would give it at least a 4 or 5 out of 5 for difficulty alone.

Re: Review: Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS eShop / NES)

grumblegrumble

One of my favorite NES games, a fantastic sequel! I remember people hating it at the time because of its lack of a "score" or "coin count" like other mario games, but once you get into this game and beat it, the last few scenes will blow your mind. wonderful game, and great characters! (FryGuy is my personal favorite.) 10/10 for me

Re: Nintendo Download: 6th June (North America)

grumblegrumble

Nintendo really shouldn't abandon their 3DS since it's selling like hotcakes and making them more money at this point than the Wii U. They really need to focus on delivering to current customers, not just trying to hook new ones on to the Wii U. Animal Crossing? That's for babies. Give me some retro goodness, Nintendo! I'm not complaining too harshly, though. Last week's Zelda Oracle package is amazing and I'm still playing those. Wonderful games at a wonderful price!

Re: Club Nintendo Rewards Updated for May

grumblegrumble

I lost my copy of AQUIA when I upgraded from a DSi to a 3DS originally, and even though I think it's an overrated game and the weakest entry in the Art Style series, it's not bad, just not my favorite, so I'll be downloading this again as a Club reward. (If they would refresh the regular rewards that would be nice, too.)

Re: Talking Point: It's Time for a 3DS Storage Upgrade From Nintendo

grumblegrumble

Welllll, I hate to say "I Told You So!" but when the eshop started selling downloadable retail titles, I said more than a few times "I don't want to download them because of the storage issues I'll face later on." Many people (including some mods here at NL) were saying "oooh, the 3DS/3DS XL has MORE than enough storage!! Stop yer whinin'!"

Well, look at ye now.

Re: Review: Puzzler World 2013 (3DS)

grumblegrumble

I totally agree on the score! Bought it last night since I loved Puzzler World XL and this version is just as great as the previous. I like the slot machine instead of the 'wheel' for the bonus round, and the extra puzzles and modes included are wonderful. I might even give this an 8/10. Great stuff If you like puzzles (like I do) then get this. Includes crosswords, anagrams, hangman, link-a-pix, you name it. Even Sudoku.
