Yeah, and thanks to you too.
I'm the same with English dubs. I don't like them in anime either. The voice actors bring their own personality to the characters so I think the Japanese voices are probably better interpretations of them. The first Xenoblade is the only game I've plaid where I thought the English audio might actually surpass the Japanese.

I see they are calling the Japan version of Oninaki the "Multi-Language" version on Play-Asia, with English support, so I think you are right. And good news for us with Dragon Quest XI S. It was confirmed via Nintendo Direct earlier in the year that Japanese Audio with English Subs will be an option. 👏

Nice. I can’t figure out if this is even getting a physical release in the West.
By the way, you were right about FFX and XII. All versions of XII have English subs with JP audio. For X and X2 even the multi language version I ordered from Play Asia doesn’t have those options. I feel like I was mislead by their advertisements for both games, which made it seem like the Asia version was the only way to play in Japanese with English subs. They were apologetic about it, but I missed out on that reverseable artwork in the US version of FFXII because of it.

Re: Review: Collection of Mana - Expensive, But Ultimately Worth Every Penny

@Joekun
If they packaged them like this as a collection I reckon there are plenty of people who would pay $40 to have all three Mother games together — this is the way to go. I hope someone over at NOA can see that. It's a tired topic, but tere's really no excuse not to release Mother 3 at this point. They sensor all kinds of things. If they need to change some magypsy sprites (and maybe that uncomfortable scene in the hot spring...) would it really be such a big deal?

I pre-ordered this today. Can't wait to own a physical copy. I have ROMs of all of these but I've never played them, and have been waiting for the right time. I question the lack of a new translation for the first two games (I doubt there are names like Lester and Willy in the JP version of Seiken Desetsu, and it is known that Ted Woolsey had no choice but to make compromises with Secret of Mana) but something about having these relics preserved together untouched on a Switch cart really strikes the right note.

Re: Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers Officially Confirmed For Switch

@Royalblues
Yes, but the Switch has changed the experience of gaming, and playing a big, 100+ hr rpg glued to a particular spot is claustrophobic. Not only that, but I'm a working adult, and can only bend my life so far toward entertainment. Some games only work when they are portable, and you can squeeze in time whenever and wherever. Nothing against PS4, but Atlus will only get my money (and I guess I only get to experience P5) if they bring it to Switch. And trust me. I really, really want to play P5.

Graphically it looks more ambitious than previous games. I skipped Lost Sphere. This one is going to have to get some pretty good reviews to coax me back. I appreciate what Tokyo RPG Factory is aiming to do, but they have played it safe so far. I would love to see them attempt something completely original. Maybe this is it?

Re: It's Not Just The Switch Which Received A Firmware Update Today

@DillonatorWright
It started happening immediately after the update. I played around with the resolution settings, tried a different hdmi cable, and messed with TV settings. There is one screen on my TV input settings that seems to indicate that the Switch is not being recognized consistently. It says that there is a device connected, and then nothing, and then connected, etc. It's an LG smart TV.

Re: Editorial: In Praise of the Smaller New Nintendo 3DS - The Best 3DS*

I was pretty bummed by not having the option of the New 3ds in North America, and it was with a fair amount of resentment mixed with my excitement that I purchased a New 3ds XL. For quite a while I coveted Europe and Japan's smaller, white unit. Then on black friday last year the US finally got it's chance--but I travelled to three different stores and still couldn't get one because they sold so quickly. Luckily a few weeks later I found an Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer bundle with the white New 3ds at Nintendo World New York. I imported a cool set of coverplates from Japan, did a transfer and sold my New 3ds XL. It's really too bad that I missed so much time playing games on it. It is one of my favorite pieces of Nintendo hardware as well.

Re: Eiji Aonuma Confirms that Breath of the Wild Will Not Support a Japanese Dub Over English Subtitles

Maaaaan. I was really hoping for the Japanese audio. With Studio Ghibli films I always watch with Japanese audio and English subtitles. Gestures, expressions and characterizations are pretty much always better in the audio that matches the culture that produced them. The exception being the Star Wars Prequal Trilogy. The voice acting is sssoooo much better in French.
