@PKDuckman Huh? They've been doing this for a very long time, ever since beat em ups became a thing. Shedders Revenge itself is a throwback to the one Konami made 35 years ago. Just like now, a couple years later many other licensed beat em up style games released, including Mighty Morphin Power Rangers which has very similar beat em up mechanics. I don't know how well those games sold but I was under the impression they're well regarded. I think it's a bit early to just assume that because your examples had middling reviews, that Rita's Rewind won't be good. I suppose we'll see, here's hoping it's decent! I loved the SNES Rangers games. They're short and simple but that's kinda what I love about them
@Arawn93 Drop rate in XB2 is only generous at first. If you have no idea what you're doing (aka most people on a first playthrough) then you'll end up with astronomically low odds at getting all the rare blades by endgame. But for all the normal people like me who didn't know about how this mechanic worked, they'll be scores and scores of hours beyond a point that they'd want to start over to stack the odds in their favor. I spent over 300 hours in XB2 for my first playthrough and only managed to pull about 75% of the rare blades. I guess you could say Nintendo unexpectedly taught me how to hate gacha games.
While I'm not in love with this series, I've played all of them and mostly enjoyed my time with each one. I will give a PSA for anyone who isn't aware: Life is Strange Remastered has bad performance, especially on Switch. It looked worse than when I played on 360 and there were a bunch of weird visual and audio bugs, as well as the occasional crash. I didn't try LiS2 or True Colors on switch, but I would be cautious about how this new one will perform.
@DudeshootMankill Gyro has always been pretty solid as long as devs implement it well in their game, anyone who had issues was likely dealing with a faulty or damaged controller. Joy cons in particular were much more finicky in the beginning
I feel like a lot of people miss the point of articles that talk about "dead" consoles, even though this one points out that the Wii U was great (to which I concur). Just because you love a console doesn't mean people are buying it or even have a reason to currently buy a dead console unless you are a collector of some sort. It's okay if you do, but by and large people aren't going to have much of a reason to buy a Wii U now, unless you're an avid Nintendo fan and even then it's overall a hard sell especially with no more online. I love mine and will continue to enjoy playing it but I just think it's interesting that people perceive the death of common interest in something to be blasphemous to say if you happen to be the minority of people still interested. Even if you're in the modding community it's my understanding that a Series S is one of the better choices.
Also many people felt the need to point out Yoshi's Wooly World was inferior on 3DS which made me a little sad lol. I think all things considered it's still an absolutely fantastic 3DS game that is worth the extra content, even with its visual downgrade and lack of co-op. Not nearly as bad as Hyrule Warriors Legends where the game can struggle to load enough enemies to fight for 50% of the map. I do agree YWW should get a definitive edition port at some point but I was actually impressed with the 3DS version, unlike a lot of these commenters I guess
@MatoFilipovic This isn't new, like @PikaPhantom mentioned, it's very common for Nintendo to not plaster all the devs involved on the promotional stuff. I think they would rather people just assume it's Nintendo-made & not think too much past that. We usually don't find out until after release who all was involved on a game.
@nessisonett Oh I actually looked it up, it apparently started as a requirement to be Japanese-made, but has since been changed to include international ones.
@Maubari Hmm I agreed with your initial sentiment that it's silly to judge others for game preferences, but then you said things about those games I totally disagree with. I loved Breath of the Wild and admit it's not perfect.. but I loved it much more than Tears of the Kingdom. I don't think the names had anything to do with it either lol. Different strokes and all
@nessisonett Didn't Ghost of Tsushima win one year? They aren't Japanese
@Alpha008 I reckon it's cause they like to go by fiscal year which is April to the end of March, but I could be totally wrong about that.
(Whoops saw right after posting @FirstEmperor already said all this, sorry 😅)
@GamingFan4Lyf I think it's been said many many times in the last week but I don't think you can patent game mechanics. It's not like anyone has patented shooting a fireball or gun or somethin, there's hundreds of games that can do that and the "mechanic" is basically exactly the same for each one. I don't know why so many people think Nintendo is after people for copying game mechanics but I think they would've tried suing a lot more game creators before Palworld devs...
@Rayquaza2510 That didn't seem like a great example, I feel like the game gets a little busier than that... this video you linked has almost nothing but menus, cutscenes, an tutorials, or am I mistaken? Even with this non intensive gameplay it seems to be dropping frames occasionally. I remembered it being a lot more rough especially when playing multiplayer (local or online). It was still fun but not the steadiest game I could think of, for sure
@swoose I think while sleep is getting more downloads and active monthly players, go is still the money maker. Even though it seems like it's on the decline after 2020, it's still made more money last year than it did it's first year; earned $566 million last year alone and it looks like it took a whole year for sleep to hit $100 million. "Crushing go" might not be the right way to put it since I'm sure most would consider more money to be more successful
@johnedwin This isn't correct, I believe. US and Japan are usually neck and neck with one another, sometimes JP buys more into a Pokemon game and sometimes it's the US. But I think it's usually fairly close.
Sploon is absolutely bigger in JP, you're right about that one
@HeadPirate Huh, that's pretty interesting. I admit I do like number crunching.
Well, to that, I'd say the claim makes far more sense. I think when I read the article I was under the assumption Pitchford was referring to singles, the songs The Beatles "put out there", as it were. But if we're talking entire catalog, then that is a much better analogy at least in that sense. Hmm I think this is taking my brain into the discussion of whether he meant a financially successful thing or a universally-liked thing. Plus it's hard to feel the equivalency of the work for one song to an entire modern video game. Meh, anyway. Thanks for the reply and clarification!
@HeadPirate Hi I'm sorry but I'm a little confused by some of your comments, if you wouldn't mind discussing a little more about it. Pitchford claimed "25% hit-rate" which means missing 75%, right? I think the point of contention here wasn't that he compared himself to The Beatles (perhaps it was for some people), but rather how incorrect the statement was. I personally don't know how popular Gearbox's ventures are or even what they consider successful, but it seemed he was alluding to only having "hits" (games) around 25% of the time, with his very incorrect reference he made. Am I missing something? Sorry if I'm misunderstanding
@JR150 I disagree with @Fighting_Game_Loser. If you want to do all the single player content possible, it takes 20 - 30 hours. More than enough content for casually playing a fighting game. Also Baiken is top tier, one of my favorite fighting characters
@MirrorFate2 Doesn't really mean anything, right? Capcom owns the IP, if they want to do more DMC then they will, it's still one of the more profitable ones that they have. I don't really see why they'd stop, DMC V sold like 7 million+
@mlt Likely what @bert0503 mentioned, after working there for three decades he was probably due for a big boy raise. Capcom likely didn't give him what he wanted, I don't feel too bad about someone wanting to do what they wanna do, though. He might just want to make that new IP and was having a hard time getting the footing to do so, since I'm sure Capcom would rather he worked on more sequels. Also if you were curious DD2 sold about 3 million last I heard.
@HeroYoshiko Well I mean, I don't care about crossplay. I'm actually not sure why anyone would care that much, it'd be nice to have the option I suppose but I thought it was a meme that most people turn it off for fighting games that have crossplay with Switch. If I wanted to play with people on PC I'd just buy it on PC lol. Also the Switch version seems like it's the best deal so far since it includes the base game + all the current dlc for $60.
@Liam_Doolan @AlanaHagues Hello I was just wondering since the title of the article updated to saying the Switch version will have rollback netcode, could either of you tell me where arcsys says this information?
