@SquareOneMJ Nice! I have a drawer unit under the TV which has one drawer and one open space. I have most of my games and controllers in the drawer & the Switch & Wii U pushed right to the back of the open part. The PS4 is there too, but he doesn’t seem interested in that. Watch out for wires too - especially if they’re carrying mains! They’ll chew everything they can get hold of 😂
From the comments, there’s lots of very young people on here. Of course, that’s absolutely expected and understandable, but I wish there was a filter to block under 18’s. This is absolutely not meant as a slight to anyone here & I love the comment section - but it would be great to somehow know I’m not talking to children..
I prefer more linear games & loved sniper elite 4 so will get this. I love my Switch, bit this is the sort of game I'd want to play on my PS4. 60fps is a big factor - I tend to only play exclusives on the Switch.
I’ve never seen an alternative to the N64 stick that controls as accurately as the original. Even the Hori stick is overly sensitive, making aiming harder and more twitchy in some games. Also the article mentions that this controller is more accurate as it has a larger dead zone. Actually it’s the other way around. The original is best, you just need to get one with a tight stick - or better still, buy one new. The price is great, but Nintendo life has a habit of saying that that new products are better than the original ways to play. They said that the ultraHDMI is better than RGB+CRT for example, which is definitely not the case.
I was mildly tumescent for this, but probably won’t use it much. I love Nintendo’s inventiveness & I’m glad I bought it just to support them. For me, I found the resolution a bit too low to enjoy Mario & Zelda - it feels like playing on an N64 at best.
@Jeronan absolutely agreed - the simpler look of the in-box games look OK, but the more complex nature of BOTW & MO make the games look pretty rough in VR. I’m glad I bought the set, just to support Nintendo but it’s like looking at graphics roughly equivalent to the N64.
Very nice article. One thing I never understood through the years is people saying you’d need 6 new batteries every 3-4 hours. To do that would be crazy - you just bought 6 rechargeables and a cheap charger and never have to spend another penny on batteries. Much cheaper than the Gameboy long term. Saying that I’d still have picked the Gameboy for the games.
@beazlen1 Nice one - I must get back to original & give it another try, in NTSC of course. The overall presentation. and voiceover just have that epic feel 👍
I’m more than mildly tumescent for this - I loved 1080 and the wave race games so I’d buy this in a heartbeat. On a different note, am I the only one who preferred Blue storm to the original wave race?
@Trajan that’s why I’m hoping for a physical release for Metroid Prime trilogy. I buy all my games in physical, partly for that reason. I think we have a reasonable chance for MPT - here’s hoping!
@impurekind Absolutely agree - it's interesting how people look back at the N64 as being awful to look at. An RGB modded PAL N64 on a 25" (no bigger) CRT can look really nice.
@ShadJV I would say that Mario 64 and Banjo Kazooie still hold up perfectly today and beat every non Nintendo 3D platformer in existence,. Their cameras aren't as evolved as they would be nowadays but their gameplay is top notch.
Hmmm - If it’s a sequel to BOTW or a core, main series Zelda title, I hope it’s Nintendo EAD steering the ship in terms of design and especially puzzles and Monolith providing perhaps just some of the assets and general grunt work. I definitely would feel uncomfortable if N we’re to get in the habit of passing core Zelda titles wholly onto second party developers.
@timson72 I too absolutely don’t agree with everyone who says this game has aged badly. As you say, I think it’s just a case of getting re-used to the old controls. I play today on solitaire 1.2 controller layout and it’s as fast, fluid and frenetic as ever. I’m playing through it at the mo - It controls like a dream and I actually prefer it to most modern shooters as it’s such a pure, unadulterated game unencumbered by the sometimes stifling complexities of modern day gaming.
In real world usage with a fast connection I doubt they'll get below 25ms latency. Add another 20ms for your TV's response time and you have a laggy 45ms experience. This should be improved upon over time but only so much - until they find a way for signals to travel faster than light - perhaps one day quantum entanglement will be the way to eventual <5ms latency.
What’s happened to the mobile site? The ‘load more news’ button has been replaced by 4 buttons for past news. Press the appropriate button for this weeks news and you have to start from the top of today’s news again to and scroll down the page for further news. It’s way more inconvenient as you just want to click on a button to expand down and instantly get the next batch of older news without scrolling.
@JoyconGang agreed - Fortnight isn’t the most demanding game graphically - it’s even running on phones. There are much more impressive games running at 60hz running on Switch, so the only reason this can’t is due to the programmer’s lack of skill.
@Andy3004 I absolutely agree. This is slightly irresponsible reporting actually and could damage the profile of this version. I think there's been some influence here from some initial hysteria from various forums. The game runs at a pretty solid 30fps and the foggy graphics only apply to the first track. The others hold up very well. A lot of games play much worse at 30fps and some fare better for various reasons. This one doesn't suffer much & plays very well as far as I'm concerned. I've been playing on my PS4 pro and my Switch but will be buying it on the Switch for playing on the sofa while watching TV with the family. It has sublime and addictive gameplay - really enjoying this one.

@bluesun Its very relevant - I have to hide all my electronics from my 6 month old retriever - he’s already chewed one of my switch controllers!
Re: Random: Nintendo's Customer Support Warns Switch Owners About Pets Peeing On Consoles
@patbacknitro18 True - unfortunately I can’t see a way to implement it.

I really hope Metroid prime trilogy comes as a full remake in a physical release rather than just simply uprezzed.
