Re: Nintendo Says It's Continuously Working On Improving The Switch Joy-Con

@EarthboundBenjy Agreed, this was a huge mistake from Nintendo, bless them. Just send it in to them, they’ll have it back to you in a few days. Hopefully they’ve learned their lesson for the next console. At leat they provide us with some of the greatest games ever made. In fact I believe they’re the greatest developer the world has seen so far.

Just as an alternative opinion: Nintendo fixes this for free and has an incredibly fast turnaround - and much better than a home fix. I know it shouldn’t be a problem in the first place but they’re doing their due diligence, at least to a degree.

Exciting to think they’re balls deep in developing their new console - only they know what it is. I reckon it’s a new much more powerful handheld hybrid.

@Migoshuro you’re absolutely right, the sequel is 100% a better game in my opinion. The addition of the boost mechanic made the racing that much more thrilling. A lot of people dismissed the game, saying the handling was too difficult, when in fact if you mastered the combination and interaction of the stick and shoulder buttons for steering it made for a fantastically finely balanced control system that gave the game wonderful playability. Personally I think it’s one of the best racers of all time, even now, and I love it to bits.

Re: Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania "Would Never Have Come To Be" Without The Fans

The worst thing they could possibly do with this is change the original physics. Hopefully they've kept Toshihiro's gameplay 100% intact. That's the sauce that's eluded developers again and again which elevates the first two games above any marble/ball type game in existence. And crucially the very thing that would be difficult to translate perfectly to a different engine.

Re: Nintendo Direct To Air Tomorrow, 23rd September

Some great, entirely realistic predictions here. Additionally we’ll get the real 4K switch pro (finally!). DLSS, roughly the base power of a series S, but in real world terms able to just about match an RTX3090 due to Nintendo’s new bespoke ultra efficient compiler. All games on mask roms to easily exceed the PS5 load times and all games will be required to run at a rock solid 120fps.A VR headset to come before Xmas with twin 4K screens at 120hz, finally giving us a decent FOV. BOTW2 and many more upcoming games will run on the headset, which will be roughly the size of a bulky pair of glasses. Complete GameCube & N64 libraries, all reprogrammed or de-restricted to run at 120fps.

Tweaked physics?? Blasphemy. Give me Toshihiro Nagoshi’s pure vision any day. The GameCube analogue stick’s so perfectly tuned to the game - for this particular title I can’t imagine another stick matching it. Thank god I recollected for the cube & became a CRT collector.

EDIT: I’m a purist, I’m sure it’ll be awesome for 99% of players

Re: Hardware Classics: Nintendo GameCube

@Nintendo_Alski I never understood why people think the wavebird is better than the original, would love to hear peoples opinions. All they did is remove rumble and add wireless. I’d prefer rumble over wireless any day.

Re: The Analogue Pocket Has Now Been Delayed Until December

FPGA consoles - the next step towards retro gaming perfection! Minimal latency, more accurate than software emulation, HDMI out, great physical looks, designed by seriously talented engineers. As good as original hardware plus CRT? Never has been, never will be.

With the exception of handheld devices - this looks beautiful.

Re: Site News: So, Where's Our Baldo Review?

andykara2003

@HolyGeez03 I agree. I’m annoyed that so many developers are releasing broken games. Very annoying for us physical collectors who value retro games. One day the servers that provide these patches will be shut down & then if your hardware breaks you’re stuck with a broken game.

Re: Anniversary: The SNES Launched In North America 30 Years Ago

I love my SNES so much. Although I was in the middle of the birth of rave when it came out. Summer of love - the best train of parties ever known to man, only those who were there know what I'm talking about. So yes, I'm very happy that I had to forgo the experience of the SNES for a few extra years.
