Re: Nintendo Says Switch Online Expansion Pack Subs Are "Steadily Increasing"

ZombieTechpad

I think I pay something like a £10er a year for the sub + expansion pak. Honestly it's great value. I've a family account and 6 friends all use it, they ping me the money when it re-news.
Mario kart dlc, animal crossing dlc, old retro games, cloud saves and now the music app all get used on a regular bases.
Compared to prime, Netflix, PSN, gamepass and the multitude of other subscriptions it's ridiculous value for money.

Re: The Pokémon Creative Team Has Been "Through A Lot" With Angry Fan Feedback

My confidence in GameFreak, The Pokemon Company and how the entire franchise is at an all time low. I'm skipping D&P remakes because they're 100% not for me and for the first time in about 5 years I wont be buying a new mainline Pokemon game day one.

Huge changes in terms of project management need to happen before I get excited about a new Pokemon game again. Like give an entry to MonolithSoft and have Nintendo directly oversee development.

Re: Nintendo's Share Value Trends Downward As Investor Analyst Gives 'Sell' Advice

ZombieTechpad

My issue with Nintendo's strategy of growth for it business is their complete lack of understanding & unwilliness to implement a robust online service. Honestly 2 companies have come into the game market much later and handed Nintendo their asses every hardware cycle since xbox live first hit, that's nearly 20 years ago. It also doesn't thrill me that their senior Japanese executives seem to favour IP Nintendo hold over other offerings.
The recent share buy-back announcement was a catch-22 for Nintendo, they have a huge amount of cash which they'll use to increase investors value in the company. Which is fine for investors but that also revealed to the market they have no plans to grow the company in new area's or double down on area's they suck at (online services). Nintendo really can become a huge company like Disney has in recent years if they leverage their IP right and explore new ways to earn revenue consistently. That's a huge risk for them and they're waiting for current risks to pay off like Super Mario theme park and the in production Mario movie. People don't realise how big the Super Mario theme park can be for Nintendo, game sales are usually lower in Summer months of the year so why not use Mario to get people's money another way.

Re: Nintendo's Stock Price Sees Biggest Fall In Two Years Following Earnings Report

@BloodNinja As part of the buy back program those shares will be removed from the market, effectively thrown in the bin - see https://www.investopedia.com/terms/b/buyback.asp.
So lets say there are 10 shares in the market each owned by a different person. Nintendo come along and buy 1 of those shares as part of this buy back program and bin that share. That means the remaining 9 shareholders now own a small bit more of the company than before.
Current share set up 10/1 = 0.1
New share set up 9/1 = 0.11

@BloodNinja They're buying their shares back to reward investors because they think their shares are under valued. I'm really surprised at how people dont understand this. Also games take years to come to market so to think Nintendo have been 'just coasting' in an attempt to manipulate the market to buy back shares which cost the same as they did a year ago is really far fetched...

Re: Nintendo To Spend Up To $900 Million To Buy Back Its Own Shares

@SwitchForce No that assumption in the article is completely false and should be removed in my opinion. Looking at how Nintendo pay out dividends (https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/stock/dividend/index.html) to investors and considering that these share will be cancelled once bought back. Investors are set to receive a higher payout. This action is to increase the overall value of investors shares not 'take back control' from outside influence.

Re: Nintendo To Spend Up To $900 Million To Buy Back Its Own Shares

Sorry Tom but this isn't correct....
"The less shares and shareholders the company has the less it is obliged to pay out on dividends, ultimately"

-investopedia.com
"A share repurchase shows the corporation believes its shares are undervalued and is an efficient method of putting money back in shareholders’ pockets."

Believe it or not investors are a good thing for a publicly trading company. It means Nintendo can generate cash to make more awesome games, also shareholders want companies they invest in to do as well as possible.

My current Nintendo positions are down around 7% so this share buy-back is coming at a good time for Nintendo when share price isnt at a high it was earlier in the year.
Note - I only recently started investing in Nintendo

Re: Game Originally Planned For Wii U, Then Switch, Winds Up As A PS5 Timed-Exclusive

PlayStation do this often during big events the last notable time was No Mans Sky, they take a crowd funded game and lock it to the platform. I really dont understand why people love them for it, for some reason its fine for PlayStation 3rd party exclusives but not Nintendo (Astral Chain etc...) or Xbox (Recore, Sunset Overdrive). For me this was one of the best looking games shown but I was burnt on PS3 so no chance I'm going back to PlayStation for pretty graphics with gameplay as deep as a puddle.
