Re: NES and Game Boy Advance Games Coming to 3DS Virtual Console

WiseGuy3683

I knew this price drop was coming, especially with the Vita's price as low as it is, they had to do this. Not saying it was too expensive for the tech from the get go (which it honestly was) but it was way too expensive for a Nintendo handheld, this will give major incentive for more people to pick it up.

Also the rewards imo while not perfect are really great, I've been wanting GBA games and now I get 10 for free. That's an AWESOME deal for me. I'd love to see NeoGeo Pocket get added to the 3DS VC.

Re: Feature: The State of WiiWare

WiseGuy3683

Not every game on XBLA is the same just like not every game on Wiiware is the same - clumping them all together considering everything to be the same isn't really giving the developers a fair chance. There's good games on all 3 consoles downloadable services.

Re: Feature: The State of WiiWare

I have many feelings on this subject but yes a lot needs to be changed on Nintendo's end in order for it to succeed. A good start would be better communication about everything in general, this includes:

  • An online community forum
  • Keeping people up to date on all future releases, not just select few
  • A blog for readers

In system though these things need to change in the shop:

  • When you click on a game demo's, pictures, videos, info, ratings and any knowledge about it needs to be shown under 1 name in the shop (3DS fixes most of these problems)
  • when you get on your Wii, in the channels menu there should be an update screen that just shows you whats new in the shop, nintendo channel, and retail.
  • better built in online community features so friends can easily talk with friends and share knowledge of titles
  • sales days in the Wiishop for both Wiiware and VC titles to help boost sales on the system as a whole
  • background downloading

Re: Capcom Apologises for Poorly Worded Tweet

WiseGuy3683

I really wish more companies took the designers and publishers into the forums the way Blizzard does and lets them interact with the community. It's like they make these boneheaded decisions blindly and piss off so many fans and burn there products to the ground completely ignoring the community of gamers who want to play the games

Re: The Thought of a Shooter-Only Future Makes Iwata Sad

WiseGuy3683

I just wanted to throw this out here. It seems Iwata doesn't understand, its not that the shooting genre is big here, its that online multiplayer games are. Look at the success of World of Warcraft, League of Legends, Castle Crashers, N+, Minecraft, Call of Duty, and look at the common factor. Online multiplayer. Get with it man.

People in the west want to play with friends. Not that every game needs multiplayer but you really need to embrace online better. I still remember after Wii launch and all the people that were disappointed that CoD3, Red Steel, Excite Truck, Marvel Ultimate Alliance and plenty other launch games didn't go online while games on the other systems were fully embracing it. Multiplayer especially online is a deal breaker for a lot of people. If you don't offer it while others are you can't expect your stuff to be selling those numbers.

Re: Tales of Graces Wii Will Not Be Released In the West

WiseGuy3683

My question is if the game is already on the system, how much more space would it take to translate it? Doesn't seem that hard to me unless they want to put voices in 7 different languages.

Seriously though, most people world wide are fine with subtitles and Japanese voices, not sure what the deal is with companies not wanting to do that. Most RPG fans play unvoiced and oldschool RPG's as it is.

Re: Heroes of Ruin Offers Over 80,000 Weapons to Loot

WiseGuy3683

This game is shaping up VERY nicely! Is that online and voice chat I see on the side? Did they mention Borderlands like item randomization? Oh yes, gimme gimme!

I'm a online RPG junkie, have Phantasy Star Online to blame for that.... stupid dreamcast and your ultra awesome online experience that got me addicted to online gaming!

Re: Iwata Tells Shareholders "Core Gamers Will Accept Wii U"

WiseGuy3683

Wrong, those people that wouldn’t touch it because of the control or the graphics aren’t hardcore gamers PERIOD. Those are the mainstream junkies that play maybe 1 or 2 games a year.

The hardcore gamers complaints were things like FRIENDCODES, low demo count for wiiware games, no demos for retail and vc games, not stable online, no voice chat – then bad voice chat – then lack of use for both voice chat devices, lack of real mii integration into the system, not being able to communicate with random people through the net and make friends, small storage and lack of integrating the SD card properly for storage, not supporting SD card music in most games (only one did this), sloppy online shop set up (even the 3DS isn’t exactly organized), and for the 3DS at least no communication between the people on your friends list.

Lets be serious, 3DS does fix a lot of things that the Wii had problems with, but not being able to communicate between your friends is a slap back down to ground 0 in bad online set up. If you want to fix your game sales and get the hardcore back, increase the space, start doing demos, and fix your online. Making it so online communities can’t form and not letting people try games before they by them is your biggest faults. It is so sad that people can turn on there Wii, DSi, and 3DS and look up porn but can’t chat with there friends, make new friends, and play game demo’s. At this day and age where the iphone and ipad are creeping up on consoles and handheld sales, you need to have these features or you will fall behind.

Last thing is core gamers are the ones who are campaigning to get games released in their region. If you really want core gamers you would stop these PR games and ignoring your fans and release the games people want. This includes Xenoblade and The Last Story in NTSC, Arc Rise Fantasia in PAL, and Mother 3, Pandora's Tower, and Earth Seeker globaly (as well as many other games).

Re: Fils-Aime: "3DS Didn't Launch Prematurely"

WiseGuy3683

Hmm, I'm not sure if some people have mentioned this or yet however I'm actually satisfied with the games I have and the system for the most part except 1 glaring giant problem. While they now have 1 global friends list, where's my ability to message my friends? It's great and all I can see them online, don't have to have 20+ friends lists, and can see what they're doing but it doesn't mean anything if I can't TALK to them.

Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Try to Recapture 'Hardcore' Gamers?

WiseGuy3683

I'd just like to throw some stuff out there yall can take it how you like.

First the definitions from dictionary.com with descriptions that fit the bill:
Hardcore - unswervingly committed; uncompromising; dedicated
Mainstream - the principal or dominant course, tendency, or trend
Casual - irregular; occasional

When people flag a company as casual or hardcore they completely overlook the meaning of these terms and how people fit into these rolls. A casual gamer is somebody who plays games irregularly and occasionally, aka the friend who only plays at parties or the family member that only plays 1 or 2 games every now and then. A hardcore gamer is the person who plays it all on whatever system, plays whenever they have time, and spends the bulk of there spare time gaming. The mainstream gamer is the person that plays only the big stuff, the trendy stuff, whats new, whats hot, and what the friends are playing.

Gaming over time has become bigger, more media oriented, and much more mainstream. Most people who are gamers don't exactly fall into the classification of a hardcore gamer or a casual, they're more mainstream. Even back in the days of Super Nintendo when it was the big console, there were plenty of mainstream gamers who only played platformers or what was big at the time. In this generation, the mainstream gamers don't like the Wii for the most part because its not whats hot, at least not anymore, 5 years ago they were all over it. The casuals flocked to the Wii because it was something completely new - just like they flocked to the Ipad and the Kinect. The hardcore however don't care about the system, they only care about the games and thats where most people who game, make games, and cover games are missing the point.

Yes, Nintendo needs to implement better online, storage, and power into their next console. No the hardcore gamers aren't gone - bad hardware doesn't stop hardcore gamers from gaming - neither do bad games. Angry Video Game Nerd anybody?

Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Have Made the 3DS Download-only?

WiseGuy3683

No, most people gamers don't like download only devices. Just think of all the people that refuse to get VC games and want the old systems with the actual games. On the flip side though there needs to be a good mix of both retail and downloadable like the xbox 360 which imo does it right.

Forcing online shopping is bad as even 10 years down the road, people will still want to buy things in a physical store however offering it as a secondary option is never a bad thing and will only help sales and customer appreciation for your product. However, unlike Wii and DSi the 3DS can use the SD cards as its internal memory, because of this there should be the ability to download full retail games online because some people (like me) have 32 gig cards in there system and if Im correct, theres much larger ones on the market now.

Re: High Voltage Responds Badly to Scathing Conduit 2 Review

WiseGuy3683

Like many people are saying here, you gotta stay professional. Ya these guys bashed you but as a gamer and consumer, there review was not only not accurate, it didn't seem like they even checked the game out outside of 1 mode, which is a no no for any site that intends on people to take them seriously. Personally I found the game to be much better then people were saying offline and online and it actually has something most games this gen don't have - split screen gasps. As a proud owner of all 3 consoles I can say this is worth a purchase.
