Re: Rayman Origins 3DS Has No Multiplayer

WiseGuy3683

When are developers going to learn, no online is no bueno. Don't put a game on a system unless you give it the same treatment it gets on other systems. This was the problem with most the games at 3DS launch, the problem with Blazblue Continuum Shift 2, the problem with WWE Allstars, and plenty of other games that could of been much MUCH better. Even Starfox, while not bad, could of been much better with the inclusion of online multiplayer. Go all out or don't go at all.

Re: Round Table: Looking Ahead to Nintendo in 2012

WiseGuy3683

Good article, very glad I went back and read it. I'm really looking forward to seeing what all Nintendo does in 2012 as it seems they have the most to gain and to lose, just like before the Wii launched. I'm not too excited for the Wii U, yet, but I'm very interested to seeing the final product, in system software, and the games.

As for 3DS, I'm hoping to hear about to tons of localization stuff and hoping to see good western developed games.

Re: Rumour: Wii U Heading for E3 Face-Off with PS4 and Xbox 720

WiseGuy3683

To be completely honest, I'm not looking forward to the next generation and I'm not really excited for the next generation. I mean this generation, we got so much. It wasn't just new graphics, it was storage, media centers, old games from previous generations, new ways to play, downloadable specific games, retail game downloads, movie rentals, AND THEN the new generation of games. I feel like this next generation, it's looking to be just more of the same rather then a lot of true blue new and I don't see myself jumping any hoops and bounds to get the new consoles from any of the 3 companies. Even if some of the games look absolutely amazing, unless I see more, my approach will likely be much slower to adopt the new hardware.

Re: 3DS Hits 4 Million Console Sales in United States

WiseGuy3683

And of course, most the editorials other then Nintendo specific sites (like this one) won't catch this and will still keep righting really bad misinformed articles bashing the 3DS. Good news, even with all the stupidity being said about the 3DS and Nintendo, Nintendo's still laying the smackdown. 2012 is going to be a fantastic year!

Re: Talking Point: The Overcrowded Holiday Release Schedule

WiseGuy3683

Honestly, way too many games came out all at once. A lot of them are games that would make big sales or sell the same no matter when they came out. Also across all systems, some of these games would of sold a lot more IF they dropped in the summer aka the driest drought for games I can ever recall.

Re: Feature: The Revolution of the Wii

WiseGuy3683

This was a good read and really made me start thinking of the many games I still have to beat and the tons and tons of games from wiiware, vc, and retail that I still want.

Honestly, like both PS3 and 360, there's a lot of gaming to be had with this console. It's really going to be hard to move forward with game consoles after this considering this generation, between the 3 systems, you get so much bang for your buck. Seriously though, I can play so many games between the 3 consoles from previous generations and have such a huge selection of games available to me through both retail and downloadable markets, it will be extremely hard to justify a purchase of new consoles.

Re: Round Table: Let’s Talk About the GameCube and Wii

WiseGuy3683

Talking about Nintendo's future and the last bit towards the end. I honestly don't think it was the systems graphical capabilities, controls, or lack of HD that disappointed the bulk of western gamers in terms of the Wii. I think it was things more like:

  • The lack of online at launch (Redsteel sold well but lack of online killed the interest)
  • Tedious friends lists via friend codes (people hate them but ESPECIALLY hated how each online game required a new set of them)
  • Laggy online play (this hurt what could of been killer titles like Smash Bros Brawl and Tatsunoko vs Capcom)
  • Lack of online play in Virtual Console games
  • Lack of voice chat or communication in general in the majority of online games
  • Wiispeak (yes we have a headset now but Wiispeak drove people away)
  • Lack of demo's (demo's are few and far between for select WiiWare games, they get taken off the network over time, and there are no demo's for VC and retail games)
  • Not being able to see friends online or use Mii's to represent you virtually
  • Lack of network patches (this has changed for new shooters however it took way too long to get here and hurt some games that ultimately did have game breaking glitches)
  • Tedious online shopping experience (Wiishop has no videos, pictures can't be expanded, no user ratings and in order to see all of that you, had to go in the Nintendo Channel which btw didn't arrive on the seen till Wii's midlife)
  • Not being able to invite your friends to online games
  • And many other problems revolving around online.

Thing is, the majority of these complaints have been fixed with the 3DS. Personally, the way I see it, if the Kinect can grab a chunk of the casual audience, the Wii U and the 3DS can grab a good chunk of core or rather mainstream audience. With greatly improved online in the 3DS and the highly hyped up online of the Wii U by both developers and publishers, you can expect to see both systems grab a good portion of that competitive online gaming and core crowd.

Re: Talking Point: First-Person Shooters and the 3DS Circle Pad Pro

WiseGuy3683

@28 Most CoD's are just ports of the same game though if they were to put one on the 3DS it'll look a lot better then the Wii's (better shaders and lighting especially). Also you can actually expect dlc, patches when needed (I know BO and MW3 can patch when needed but others can't), and over all more support from Activision. Not to mention the 3DS has a built in mic that they'll probably end up using and easier to use friends list offering better online options for all players then the Wii version.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Plans to Fight Back

WiseGuy3683

@123 When the system launched it was without the net browser, eShop, Nintendo Video (and other video sources depending on location) as well as we've gotten Excite Bike 3D, LoZ 4 Swords Anniversary and the NES games so far. Not too long from now we'll be getting the ability to communicate (via swapnote), jump into game sessions with friends, the ability to download demo's for games, the GBA games, and other features.

Not that everything I mentioned will appeal to everyone however its a whole lot better then what the system was at launch, though honestly everything they're doing should of been there from day 1.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Plans to Fight Back

WiseGuy3683

Well, I do agree that 3DS has been getting some major major upgrades and things that it greatly needed though most of what has come was expected at launch. The good news is, it will be here in time for the holidays and be a nice welcoming treat for new 3DS owners. Not to mention the GBA games are still on the way and will be a nice and welcome addition for early adopters.

On the case of the Wii, I dunno. They seem to be looking over the biggest market (NA) when it comes to game releases. After saying that they want to do more for the core and make their next home console be more of a core system, the way they're currently treating core gamers in NA won't win them any popularity contests or help sell their next system. Then again, I think region locking is dumb and also greatly believe if you release in 1 region, you release it in all regions. Don't try to dictate what gamers like or stereotype gamers depending on where they're located. Just because I'm in the US doesn't mean I don't like RPG's and just because a gamer is in Japan doesn't mean they don't like FPS's. Taste in games isn't dictated by race, sex, or nationality and shouldn't be thought to by publishers, it comes down to the individual - just like other forms of entertainment.
