Re: SurveyMonkey Intelligence Breaks Down the Declining Usage of Miitomo

WillTheLion

@StraTTtheRipper I feel you. I hadn't played Tomodachi Life yet when I first tried Miitomo. But when I wanted more content I went and got Tomodachi Life and I found that much more entertaining. I wish it was more like the 3ds game.

That and it just takes up too much file space on my 16gb phone at nearly 1gb to have just sitting on there without me using it frequently.

Re: Video: Nintendo Aims to Get Down With the Kids in Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Series

WillTheLion

I really want to like this game because I really like Fire Emblem. But the Fire Emblem characters seem so changed to me that it's hard to recognize them. I had to look at pictures of them side by side to even tell on some.

I've never played Shin Megami Tensei or Persona so those aren't a selling point for me either.

It just looks so weird. I'd love a demo to try it first before buying.

@Maxz Have you checked the ignition of you car? Lol.

Re: Missingno is Still in the Virtual Console Releases of Pokémon

WillTheLion

@Rei Thanks! I read through it all and it seems like it's still very work in progress. Either way it'd be cool if they could get it functional. But even if they could it wouldn't be as good as an official re-release of those games because of the scarcity of players playing hacked in copies of the game. Plus there definitely would be no Pokemon Bank support even if they got it working.

Re: Why We're Still Playing… Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver

WillTheLion

I always loved Gold and Silver as well. Honestly I hope that the re-release of the original R/B/Y games leads to playable Gold/Silver/Crystal games that work with Pokemon bank too.

Though I must admit I am enjoying my virtual console Pokemon Blue as well. The only thing that could make it better would be to have Blue and Red use the Super Gameboy Palettes but that isn't gonna happen so I'm just enjoying it on gameboy green mode.

Re: Site News: Welcome To The Brand New Nintendo Life!

WillTheLion

My I initial reaction was that I don't like it. No more tags for articles; no information about the author on the article pages; no recent forum posts; I liked the old chronological order timeline of articles the new one seems like it'll be easier to miss things now. Comments also don't load with the page instead you have to tell it to load them (with a slower connection it would help but I imagine it'd be a minor difference).
And overall it all seems too blue, and that's coming from a guy who's favorite color is blue.
Oh and the banner now scrolls with the page on articles thus filling up my possible reading/image viewing space.
All my opinions are from viewing it from an iPhine 5s. Haven't looked at the desktop yet.
I wish there was a preference setting under user profile for how I want to view the site while logged in.
I hope I can get used to this.

Re: Pokémon's Ash And Gary Are Getting The Nendoroid Treatment

WillTheLion

@Adamant The tie in with the Mew give away event is a possibility. But as far as, "You're seeing connections where there are none." Your denying connections where there are some. Reread what I said. I said that the 'manga' characters as you call them aren't what they're based on. I said they're based on the 'game' characters which is the same source material for what the 'manga' characters were based on.

They're the same characters. That's like saying that Goku from the tv show isn't the same as the Goku in the manga because the tv show(anime) was made based off the manga to correspond with it.

Same characters. The game is the source material for both the figures and the manga.

TLDR: Same characters. One source.

Re: Pokémon's Ash And Gary Are Getting The Nendoroid Treatment

WillTheLion

@Juampi It's sad that the author doesn't want to fix it because normally the authors in general here are more professional.

As @FRANKLIN_BADGE said, "The cap and hair are clearly based on Red's first appeareance on Red/Blue for the GB." These figures are clearly being released to further promote the rerelease of the game boy originals and they have the designs to match.

As many would seem to agree, "It's insulting that they don't acknowledge their mistake." After all this is a site for Nintendo gamers, and as such we're going to know our games.

Besides anyone who Actually wanted an Ash Nendoroid would be mislead and disappointed when it wasn't the 'Ash' from the show.

Re: Pokémon's Ash And Gary Are Getting The Nendoroid Treatment

@Kylo_Ren thanks for sharing the link to reddit. I got a kick out of the fact that it's sparked debate here, Twitter and there as well. The debate is everywhere with the majority saying the title is wrong and yet @Damo wants to still disagree. Not the normal happy to fix an error attitude we usually see. But I guess it's getting this publicity so who cares right?

@The__Goomba Crazy right? It's the main reason people are even clicking the article. I guess that makes it click bait.

@EVERYONE In the end I really don't care. I only commented to attempt to be helpful, as did many others. I meant no harm. I hope no one feels I or anyone else saying the names are wrong are seen as being out of line.

Re: Pokémon's Ash And Gary Are Getting The Nendoroid Treatment

WillTheLion

@Damo I see you edited your article's body text to say "Ash and Gary (or "Red" and "Blue" if you'd prefer)" But please swap the names here and in the title of the article or every comment on this page will be that the names are wrong. It should say Red and Blue (or "Ash" and "Gary" if you prefer).

We're Nintendo gamers so of course we're going to go with the game's canon names. Even if lots of people used the names of Ash and Gary for the characters that doesn't make it their names.

The Mew included comes from the Mew that both Red and Blue fight in the very first chapter of the official manga Pokemon Adventures that was based on the gameboy games. As seen here: http://www.goodmanga.net/images/manga/pokemon_adventures/1/10.jpg
http://www.goodmanga.net/images/manga/pokemon_adventures/1/11.jpg
http://www.goodmanga.net/images/manga/pokemon_adventures/1/13.jpg

That's why the Mew is included with them. If it was "Ash" he'd have a Pikachu included as seen in this Banpresto figure that is actually Ash: http://myfigurecollection.net/item/121521

Here's a picture: Untitled Also here's a picture of Ash and 'modern' Red as two separate characters from the same figure line: http://36.media.tumblr.com/3faa63489e572bb024e8bd71c5a1393f/tumblr_ncqijhfjry1tls927o6_1280.jpg

They're not the same.

In Pokemon Red the name select screens look like this:
Untitled Untitled

Both Red and Blue were names that were higher on the list than Ash or Gary and as such were the more likely default option.

Also in Pokemon Gold/Silver when you return to the Kanto region you get the chance to fight these two and they are named Red and Blue without a chance to rename them.

Lastly and more recently there was the Pokemon Origins anime mini series that was 4 episodes long that covered the story of the original games. These characters were shown in this style of the first game and were named Red and Blue there as well. http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Origins

Please fix the naming of the article. Thanks!!

@EmmatheBest Thanks for pointing out the Kanto Region Extra to Gold/Silver I had forgotten about that. It's true that they are named Red/Blue there too. And in that case the player does not get to name them.

Re: Pokémon's Ash And Gary Are Getting The Nendoroid Treatment

WillTheLion

Ash? This is still Red and Blue according to the games these figures are based on. These specific character designs are also referred to in name as Red and Blue in the Manga and Anime OVA short.

Their designed as derivatives of Ash and Gary but they aren't actually the same.

The Red figure you linked to is just modernized Red.

Re: Nintendo Outlines Future Plans for 3DS and Promises That "Several Strong Titles" are Planned

WillTheLion

@Ichiban I remember I used to believe I could wait for Ocarina of Time 3D to get cheaper before I bought my first 3DS. I waited a good 3 years for a larger game library and for price drops and I remember that even used I bought it for nearly the full price of the game new when it was first released. But it's a Zelda game so that's kinda expected.

Truthfully though $40 is a lot less than the $60 a new console game costs in my opinion. And if you have Amazon Prime, or Best Buy Gamer Pro Club you can get a new 3DS game for $32 without waiting for any price drop after release. At that price it sound pretty cheap to me.

Re: Video: Bask in the Monochrome Glow of Extended Pokémon Virtual Console Footage

WillTheLion

@AlienX That sounds like the most intelligible answer I've heard so far on this subject. I guess that means that I would be most interested in the Yellow Version of the game.

Course that was already true for the ease of getting all the starters and to have Pikachu follow me around.

So that means that this video demonstrating Yellow Version in color supposedly on the Virtual Console might be actual footage and not just some random stuff recorded via another emulator. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAGr5ZZvPoI
