Re: Switch Piracy Tool Could Brick Your System Because It Contains (Wait For It) A Piracy Countermeasure

Tuosev

I would like to add another note on something @SomeWriter13 said concerning companies' lack of preservation.

There are other cases where companies refuse to grant reasonable access to consumers in some countries, whether that be from region locking or lack of localization. Take Mother 3, for instance; a case in which I have personally been invested for some years. Despite overwhelming demand from fans, Nintendo still has not provided access to the software through legal channels aside from importing a Japanese copy, which can be hard to find due to its rarity. Even then, you would need to learn Japanese in order to enjoy the game.

In cases like those, I don't think its immoral at all to pirate a translated copy to play on an emulator illegally.

Re: Iwata Was Watching Over Us, Says Zelda: Breath Of The Wild's Director

Tuosev

I've played the game pretty extensively so far, and any time I visist the Korok Forest my framerate goes out the window. Turning the camera makes it worse, and its a persistant problem for as long as I am there. That really is the only area that I have a serious problem with (which is a real shame, because it's one of the more pretty-looking areas in the game), as its almost unnoticeable the rest of the time. I am playing in the Switch

Re: Rumour: Mother 3 Will Be Unveiled for the Switch VC at the Switch Reveal Next Week

Tuosev

@MitchVogel

The first time I played Earthbound I had the same conclusion. Even through all the charm and pure amazingness, I just didnt think (and still dont) that Earthbound was the best thing I'd ever experienced.

However, Mother 3 instantly shot to my #1 favorite spot when I first played it 8 years ago, and it's still there, even beating Majoras Mask, which is #2 with The Last of us bringing up 3rd.

If you like Earthbound but didnt love it, you owe it to yourself to play Mother 3. It's just that much better.

Re: Report Focuses on Nintendo Switch Touchscreen and IR Pointer on Joy-Con Controller

Tuosev

Hmmm. I like the idea of being able to navigate the home menu in the same ways as the Wii U. Touch, Button, or Pointer. And for the games things get a lot more complicated. Most games will probably just ingore the functionality alltogether, but I'm sure we'll get a few gems from our Nindie buddies that will utilize touch/motion and be really good.

Also, I love my new profile pic. Any Berserk fans here?

Re: Nintendo Download: 16th June (North America)

Tuosev

I didn't even know Rhythm Heaven was out yet. As soon as I saw this article I did a double take and grabbed my 3DS to download. I also didn't realize that Drill Dozer got brought over here... Dang it I loved that game on GBA now I'mma have to hook my Wii U back up to buy itl

Re: Video: SEGA Heats Up the 3DS With Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice E3 Trailer

Tuosev

@Henmii Exactly!

@Uzuki I get that fueling the hype fire is a good thing, but I don't want the information now. It really takes away from the "specialness" and importance of the main event. I feel the same about the Super Bowl commercials. If we've seen them all on Youtube the week before, what is the point of tuning in for them during the actual Super Bowl? The current generation doesn't exactly get super hyped about football anymore.

If I know everything that will be shown at E3, what's even the point of watching for surprising reveals and new trailers?

Re: Gallery: Check Out All the New Weapons Coming to Splatoon with Sheldon's Picks Vol. 2

Tuosev

Dang it. I really want an N-Zap with Burst Bombs and Inkstrike. I know I could just use a Splattershot, and I have been, but I liked using the N-Zap more, and Burst Bombs are so much more useful for my playstyle than the sprinkler is.

Edit: Although, I have found a number of nifty uses for the Sprinkler. When playing Museum D'Alfonsino in Turf War I like to throw it at the rotating boards all over the place, and on maps where there are high up areas on the enemy side that aren't easily reached, like the section of Saltspray Rig next to the spawns (You know the one) You can throw one up there and get some decent points and a distraction out of it.

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto and Yugo Hayashi Discuss Star Fox Zero's Development

Tuosev

I, too, fail to see why people don't like the controls. If that's the case you obviously didn't play for very long or very seriously. I'll be straight: I've never played 64. But I had and absolute BLAST with Zero.

After I acclimated to the controls, It WAS like an extension of me. It was in no way a hindrance. In fact, the controls were super satisfying and easy to use. True, nowhere near as good as Splatoon's, and nowhere near as easy to pick up as Star Fox 64's, but I really, honestly, truly enjoyed the ever living heck out of the controls for Zero.

Unnecessary? Sure. But they were still good controls with relatively few issues. It's just different, and that is in no way bad. Stop complaining.

And on the looking between two screens, once I had a system down, I hardly even noticed that was what I was doing. You guys just need to get used to it. Play for longer than an hour, and you'll get it.

Re: Soapbox: Game Reviews Always Need a Final Score

Tuosev

I think not using a number system WOULD be a good idea. I thought about this one. I REALLY thought about his one. At first I was thinking that a number score should be kept, for the same reasons Alex states. He puts quite well. But after some pondering I realized that metacritic holds perhaps a little too much weight for the simpletons who DON'T actually read. In a broader view, people would actually learn more about upcoming games than they do now, rather than waiting for a score.

More people would know what the game is actually like, and buy it according to whether or not THEY actually like it. I mean, it's easy to do this but apparently people are stupid. But what else is new, right?

Re: Random: Fan Mod Brings Super Mario World to the Sega Mega Drive Classics Hub

Tuosev

I deleted my browser stuff... cookies, history and the like... and I forgot about the quirky "Hold on there, you need to log in to comment!" thing XD

On topic, the music in that game is terrible... It might be because I've never personally liked the Sega style sound (It reminds me of annoying bagpipes), or it could be because it's repetitive, or because the opening bit is waaay off key. Or all three at once that's probably it.

Re: Star Fox Zero's Credits Feature A Touching Tribute To A "Fallen Wingman"

Tuosev

@abbyhitter
I can see why you would have the stance you do. After thinking about it objectively for a second, I think your right. There ARE a lot of people over-dramatizing the sadness surrounding Iwatas death.

However, I myself also found his passing to be a devastating loss to humanity. I would say the biggest reason people are genuinely feeling upset and sorrowful about it is because Satoru Iwata was an extremely relatable man. I realized this after watching a number of biography tribute videos.

I bring up this (now famously overused) quote, "On my card, I am a business man. In my head, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer." This right here is exactly why so many felt a deep connection with him. He was honest, and he had something in common with us. His passion for games.

Sharing a passion for games is a very strong thing, regardless of whether we know him or not, we FEEL like we know him. And when he died, it left an impact that was felt by everyone and anyone in said position.

I still think you're right though, there are people who do need to take it down a notch. As with anything that happens, there will always be those who blow it up and over-dramatize events.

I would endear you to be a little more sensitive with your comments, though. Because, like me, there are those who feel a very real and genuine sense of loss around the topic of Satoru Iwata's death. Please understand.

Re: Nintendo Life Weekly: New Nintendo Patent Spotted, Ubisoft Responds to NX Rumours and More

Tuosev

@Dakt Nah keep doing your thing. I wasn't complaining. I'm sure Alex will eventually come up some clever response to you. I'm waiting for it XD.

@rushiosan Buy a Wii U, play it for a while, experience the great games that use the gamepad, and then come back and we'll talk about how it's not a gaming machine. It's not fair to compare Nintendo to Sony or Microsoft. Nintendo does things differently, and are good in different ways. This comes from somebody who has a PS4 and plays it regularly.

Re: Video: METAGAME Is A Movie About The Wild World Of Competitive Smash Bros. Players

Tuosev

I binged through the Smash Brothers documentary in one night. I was sucked in. As someone who somewhat aspires to become really good at Smash 4 (I main Ike second Cloud, btw), the competitive scene for the games is really cool. I was able to attend and participate in a non-official tourney for Smash 4 at Salt Lake Comic con, and ended up taking third place. The rush from the whole experience is unparalleled.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Has Plans to Localise Mother 3 This Year

Tuosev

I'm not saying I believe in rumors, but with everything that's been happening around the Mother series in late 2015, if we don't see it in 2016 it probably isn't happening ever. The Lucas Amiibo did extremely well, as did the Ness, Earthbound and Earthbound Beginnings BOTH sold like hotcakes on the eShop, and I find it difficult to believe that Nintendo is just going to drop the series after giving us Beginnings. No way are they leaving it like that.

Re: Review: Bigley's Revenge (Wii U eShop)

Tuosev

@spurgeonryan I've been to Miiverse. I've had quite an extensive history on Miiverse, in fact. I was there during the GOOD days of Miiverse, when things like troll raids, Count Dooku, Eggverse, Hatty, the ROS and the "Great Zelda Community War"/ SmashersVSHylians were prominent things there.

Despite all that, the ONLY audience I see accepting this as a "Good Game" for ANY reason, whether it be humor or no, are Internet troll types between the ages of 8-14, because anybody who DOESN'T have parents who buy all their games for them would realize that $5 is WAAAAY too much an asking price for this despicable piece of dung Ninja Pig calls a game.

Re: The Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty Wii U Port is Nearing Completion

Tuosev

The Oddworld games are an amazing treat for anyone who's had the pleasure of playing any of them at least once! I was so excited when I heard they were making New and Tasty in the first place, and when I found out it was coming to Wii U, I nearly flipped my lid! Will DEFINITELY be supporting this on release.

Re: Review: Drill Dozer (Wii U eShop / GBA)

Tuosev

It's very disheartening to me that all these amazing games are coming out on the EU VC and not over here in the US, because I've decided to delete any games that are available to me to buy on the VC. Speaking of, I should go delete two of my Fire Emblem games right now. Sword of Seals is staying right where it is, though.

Re: Review: Drill Dozer (Wii U eShop / GBA)

Tuosev

First time I played this was in a WalMart on demo. Years later, after I got into emulation on my PC, I finished the game. I just got a new PC for Christmas, and just downloaded my usual GBA/N64/NES/SNES emus last night.

First games I downloaded were Mother 3, Fire Emblem (all 3 GBA), Chrono Trigger, and Drill Dozer. The GBA was my first gaming system period, and not only does it hold a LOT of nostalgia with me, but it had a freakin' KILLER library.

Re: RCMADIAX to Temporarily Remove AVOIDER From the Wii U eShop

Tuosev

@RCMADIAX As much as I'm not going to buy any of your games, I appreciate that you're a reliable and honest developer. You may be making what a lot of people call "Casual games," but as long as you aren't anything like that idiot Ninja Pig, you'll have my respect.

Seriously. Who remembers the Meme Run fiasco?

Re: Review: Discovery (Wii U eShop)

Tuosev

You're absolutely right. No survival is indeed a deal breaker for me. I actually got a computer for christmas, so I ended up buying the PC version of Minecraft for $27 over the more expensive lazy version we got on Wii U.

However, if this had a survival mode, I probably would have bought it just to spite Mojang over the decision they made. Besides, this game looks to be technically and graphically superior to Minecraft.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Talks About Fire Emblem Characters in Smash Bros.

Tuosev

I love Fire Emblem. I'm sure Sakurai is proud to have been a big part of why it was localized.

Ike is my main. I try playing as any other character in the game and immediately regret it. Cloud looks interesting, though...

If he adds a new FE rep, I'd like to see someone who ISN'T a lord... please? I guess Robin technically counts, but to have maybe Vaike or Hector (at least a varient lord), or really anyone who would work well and wasn't a "popular" character.

Re: Review: Meme Run (Wii U eShop)

Tuosev

To get this clear...

This game was on my hate list the moment I heard it was coming... two months ago.

I heavily associate memes with Trolls, all of whom I hate with a deep, deep passion.

Those of you who even remotely defend this game or say this game didn't deserve a 1/10 obviously doesn't know anything about quality game mechanics. This game wasn't given such a bad score just because it has a stupid basis. If its fun, its fun. This game is NOT fun.
