In this completely silly run of bite-sized features, we're going to write a new version of '12 Days of Christmas' with a Nintendo twist that will, hopefully, be good enough to sing.
Nine Shantaes Dancing
We were thinking of ditching the practice of matching up with the original song's 'activities', in this case dancing. Yet a suggestion from trekkie001 was too tough to ignore — this one's in honour of WayForward's mascot, a character who's made all of her main-series appearances to date on Nintendo portables. That will change with Shantae: Half-Genie Hero in 2015, but we certainly feel that this shows some love for the download / indie scene, works when singing the song and celebrates the fact that the character actually dances.
So far, then, our song is as follows:
On the First day of Christmas Nintendo sent to me,
A big chair in a Pear Tree.On the Second day of Christmas Nintendo sent to me,
Two Koopa Troopas
and a big chair in a Pear TreeOn the Third day of Christmas Nintendo sent to me,
Three angry cuccos
Two Koopa Troopas
and a big chair in a Pear TreeOn the Fourth day of Christmas Nintendo sent to me,
Four calling Chatots
Three angry cuccos
Two Koopa Troopas
and a big chair in a Pear TreeOn the Fifth day of Christmas Nintendo sent to me,
FIVE SONIC RINGS
Four calling Chatots
Three angry cuccos
Two Koopa Troopas
and a big chair in a Pear TreeOn the Sixth day of Christmas Nintendo sent to me,
Six Yoshis Laying
FIVE SONIC RINGS
Four calling Chatots
Three angry cuccos
Two Koopa Troopas
and a big chair in a Pear TreeOn the Seventh day of Christmas Nintendo sent to me,
Seven Cheep Cheeps Swimming
Six Yoshis Laying
FIVE SONIC RINGS
Four calling Chatots
Three angry cuccos
Two Koopa Troopas
and a big chair in a Pear TreeOn the Eighth day of Christmas Nintendo sent to me,
Eight Malons Milking
Seven Cheep Cheeps Swimming
Six Yoshis Laying
FIVE SONIC RINGS
Four calling Chatots
Three angry cuccos
Two Koopa Troopas
and a big chair in a Pear TreeOn the Ninth day of Christmas Nintendo sent to me,
Nine Shantaes Dancing
Eight Malons Milking
Seven Cheep Cheeps Swimming
Six Yoshis Laying
FIVE SONIC RINGS
Four calling Chatots
Three angry cuccos
Two Koopa Troopas
and a big chair in a Pear Tree
Be sure to share your suggestions for additional lyrics in the comments below; a classic Christmas song will be born.

I have no suggestions for ten lords a-leaping, but could you upload a video of the NintendoLife team singing the whole song when it's done? That'd be good!
Oh wait, ten Luigi's leaping!
Yay for Shantae! Looking forward to HGH, and you -know- it'll be better with the Wii U Gamepad! Just sayin'.
Big thanks to everyone who donated! Even if we didn't hit the next Stretch Goal, now they won't have to sweat the fees and such, and have a little more breathing room.
10 Froakies leaping
10 Lords a Leaping (Fire Emblem)
If you're going for lords and leaping, there's no one more noble and leaps better than Mr. Video Game himself. Well if you don't count his younger brother.
10 Mario's a leaping. Actually somewhat plausible with double cherries. Or if you count extra lives as extra Marios. Or if you took 10 from the Super Mario 128 tech demo.
10 Jumpmen(mans?) leaping
11 (Warp) Whistles piping
12 (DK) Bongos Drumming
Those are the rest of my predictions.
10 Groose a weeping.
I'd personally go Luigi over Mario, it flows a tiny bit better.
Ten Frog Marios a leaping.
Now this is a ninth day I can get behind. <3
10 Luigis leaping is way better than what I suggested
Ten brothers a leaping.
10 Metroids Feeding? Or 10 Arwings Rolling? Just trying to get some other franchises in the song lol
10 Marios marching
Gotta love Shantea!
I gotta say though, I always thought the 12 days of Christmas song was so archaic in our modern world. Nice job of NLife to remix it!
I'm thinking you guys NEED to do something with Pikmin. How could you not? Unfortunately, you would indeed have to ditch the original theme word to do it.
Ten Spoinks a-leaping
I don't like Shantae. Not the story, not the characters, not the franchise.
10 Luigis leaping
