Re: Feature: Games That Almost Were - A Look At Cancelled N64 Titles

Tsuchinoko

@dizzy_boy Well the thing is Cubivore and Mother 3 were finished and released, albeit on later consoles. Its those games that were never finished or released in ANY form which should get a second chance (Mega Man Legends 3, grumble grumble...)
That Viewpoint 2064 is an interesting case since it seemed like it was finished or close to it

@LeasTwanteD thats completely up to you, as you're totally missing out on a great game, one of my favorites.
@sanqet i totally love my copy of Mother 3, and its the only reason i still have my ds. I find the 64 versions graphics so unappealing. The GBA version has crisp colors and endearing character designs. Plus, with the delay they had the story had time to change, and i love the final versions story.

Re: Game Boy Advance Titles To Hit Wii U Virtual Console From April Onwards

Tsuchinoko

Im sorry, but why would anyone be so upset that Mother 3 isnt on the release schedule that they would not buy the games that are coming out. It would be a long shot at best to think that they would translate a very text heavy game that is nearly a decade old just for the vc.

Yes you could mention the fan translation, and i know it was offered to Nintendo, but its not a good translation in my opinion, and Nintendo would use their own people to translate it.
In my opinion, its a little silly to demand and expect this game to come out, and get upset when it doesn't. Don't get me wrong, its one of my favorite games, and one of the first i bought when i come to japan years ago.
If the fan translation is out there, just go play that. At least you can experience it that way.

Re: Preview: Japanese Gamers Get Their Free Super Mario Bros. Deluxe Download

Tsuchinoko

@Gridatttack wait wait! I know i just triple posted, but this game DOES include Super Mario Bros 2 AKA lost levels. I just got to world 6 in original mode and there was a luigi icon on the main screen. I thought it would allow me to play as luigi but i was brought to the "for super players" screen. Its SuperMario Bros 2 AKA lost levels. It is in this game.
EDIT, the version of Super Mario Bros 2 AKA lost levels in this game is without the extra hidden levels, but other than that its all there.

Re: Preview: Japanese Gamers Get Their Free Super Mario Bros. Deluxe Download

@MrSRArter i just looked it up on the Japanese Wikipedia page. It said that this game was available in Japan, but a year after other regions. It was not available in stores, but only as a Nintendo Power promotion. Some of those copies did show up in used game stores and in Internet auctions later on though.

@unrandomsam huh? That doest make any sense. If Japanese rpgs are of higher quality then how is Dragon Quest VII the only one worth bothering about?

Re: Preview: Japanese Gamers Get Their Free Super Mario Bros. Deluxe Download

Tsuchinoko

@SonataAndante and us in japan can join in the same argument cant we? Loads of indie and third party games never leave western territories, and theres e-shop games like vvvvvv that im still waiting for. How about the recent trend where even first party games like the recent Zelda get released in japan last? The point is we all feel left out sometimes.

Re: Preview: Japanese Gamers Get Their Free Super Mario Bros. Deluxe Download

Tsuchinoko

Just wondering if anyone actually tried to find out or deduce why NoA didnt offer this promotion. Im a japanese resident so i already got mine. Its decent enough, and yeah for the content works just fine as a promotion rather than 2 a retail sale, but with japan getting it much earlier it seems like japan was offering it first, NoE jumped on board, but for some reason NoA (which unfortunately for Canadians includes them) decided not to? Strange.

Anyway its nice Nintendo gives away free stuff sometimes. I actually kinda like this game. Its the first ive played so i can't compare to the gbc original.

Re: Level-5 Trademarks Yo-kai Watch in the US

Tsuchinoko

Ive been a little disappointed with a lot of the demos that have come out here in the past few months, but i can say i found youkai watch to be incredibly fun and charming. Not sure how they would send it to the west sincd its very japanese, but i though it was one of the funnest games ivd played in a while.

Re: Zelda Unveiled as New Smash Bros. Challenger

Tsuchinoko

Finally! I'm so glad they went with the Twilight Princess Zelda. That look was so cool. The Skyward Zelda was cute, but I couldn't see that look really working in a fighting game.

I always thought that she and Samus were the tough girls of the Smash Brothers games.

Re: PC Engine And MSX Games Coming To Japanese 3DS And Wii U Virtual Console Services

Tsuchinoko

@Damo Sorry. In Japan we're still at early evening at this time. I do know there are people who stay up late (I'm originally from the UK), but yeah, living in Japan so long sometimes I do forget, and this is my main free time after my job finishes.
And yes to ELTN I think GBA on the WiiU is a weird choice, since 3DS gamers want handheld games on their VC. I read once that there was an issue within the programming for GBA on the VC, which makes their decision to have the Ambassador program include poorly emulated GBA games as part of the deal a little strange. It seems like they're stuck with that choice. I don't think it would take that much work, but going back on the exclusivity and making a new system for having GBA VC games on the 3DS seems like something they gave up on. I'm not 100% sure so don't quote me on this, but it does seem like something that they're not wanting to deal with, rather than something they CAN do.

Re: Nintendo Direct Focusing On Wii U And 3DS Games Coming Spring 2014 To Air Tomorrow

Tsuchinoko

@WanderingPB Well, if you know what games for the respective regions are already scheduled to come out, then just expect videos and info on those games, because more often than not, the Directs are for reminding people that those games are coming out, and giving people that are interested more info on them. Its better to not expect "new" game info, but if you know the theme or release window that they will cover, then you can expect to see games from that release window to be shown in the video. That's why, for the Japanese ND, I am thinking they might show info for the Theatrhythm sequel. Its reasonable. And if they show an entirely new game or something I was not expecting (like if the PC Engine games that were announced rather quietly in Japan through the regular VC update for the following week, I mean seriously, if you look at the site they make no special announcement of it, but its the first new console on the systems VC in quite a long time, were announced in the Direct rather than how they were announced) then its a nice surprise and makes you happy right? Anyway, its best to just look at the games that are coming out in your region for spring so you can know what to expect for the video!

Re: PC Engine And MSX Games Coming To Japanese 3DS And Wii U Virtual Console Services

Tsuchinoko

So this is confirmation that the lineup of consoles on the 3DS VC isn't final. I've looked around at several sites and while most of them for the longest had the PC Engine as "TBA", they also had SNES/Super Famicom, Neo Geo and Neo Geo Pocket Color, and Game Boy Advance as "TBA" as well. It gives me hope that some of these systems will make it eventually. And the PC Engine being added is going to give the Japanese VC an even bigger boost that what we had in the past weeks.

I'd love for GBA games to get on the 3DS. I know people say its not going to happen, but there's hope, and if not then there's always the next handheld

I'm not even worrying about the 3DS not getting the MSX games. It was Japanese only, and yes I live in Japan, but there were only 13 on the Wii VC.

Re: PC Engine And MSX Games Coming To Japanese 3DS And Wii U Virtual Console Services

Tsuchinoko

@Nintenjoe64 It seems that even though they were involved in the creation (this is Microsoft of Japan, not the main company it seems), they don't hold the trademark. It looks like its been moved quite a bit.

I was always a Nintendo guy since I was a kid, so I never got to play a lot of these games until the VCs. I'm a bit excited, especially since there are SO many PC Engine games.

EDIT: In Japan I mean!

Re: PC Engine And MSX Games Coming To Japanese 3DS And Wii U Virtual Console Services

Tsuchinoko

@FluttershyGuy You do sound really negative, but after looking at the low amount of support the VCs get in the west, its understandable.

Just look at how many games we've gotten recently. We had a really big dry spell for anything other than Famicom/NES games for like 3 months, and then all of a sudden we got a huge boost in the other platforms.

The PC Engine makes sense, since in its time it was really popular in Japan. I just consider it a bonus.

Re: Nintendo Direct Focusing On Wii U And 3DS Games Coming Spring 2014 To Air Tomorrow

Tsuchinoko

I really don't think there will be any news on SSB, even just an update if this is really about Spring 2014 games, and the officially denied a spring release.

I'm actually hoping for some news on Theatrhythm FF Curtain Call, since we haven't had any news on that since it was first announced, and currently it is still listed as a spring game. Yoshi's New Island news would be nice too.
