Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Launch Games & Release Dates 2017

TreasureFan

@electrolite77 It was mainly stock shortages in the early months after it's launch in Japan, that caused it's demise. The PS2 just put the final nail in the coffin. Some analyst argue if the Dreamcast had held on to the Japanese market a bit longer, the Dreamcast could have survived the sixth generation, although fiercely competing with the more graphically capable Gamecube in third place. Then again that's just speculation.

Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Launch Games & Release Dates 2017

TreasureFan

@electrolite77 The Dreamcast actually sold pretty well at launch since the Virtua Fighter series was pretty popular in Japan, plus it's out of the box online capabilities was intriguing for many consumers. Sales were fine for the Dreamcast in Japan up until Sony announced the PS2, which offered DVD playback. After that Dreamcast sales started to slump.

Re: Virtual Console Will Not Be Ready For Nintendo Switch Launch

TreasureFan

Expected, but still disappointing. The fact that they now just said this, when they had practically weeks to announce this is just worrying in my opinion. The Switch is coming up in almost a week from now, and there is still no direct or any actually announcement. The information we've been getting so far are a few statements, unboxing videos, some gameplay videos and leaks. I think Nintendo might be getting ahead of themselves in terms of releasing the Switch.

Re: Bethesda's Todd Howard "Can't Say" If Skyrim on Switch is the Special Edition

TreasureFan

Well of course it's not going to be the special edition. It's probably going to be a port of the original game with few added features here and there. This shouldn't necessarily be surprising. I don't want to vilify the Switch's power capabilities, but the special edition which is found on PC, PS4, or XBOX 1 is simply out of the question, since the Switch isn't powerful enough to do so.

Re: Retro: This Is Why We Should Probably Be Glad Nintendo Stuck With Carts For The N64

TreasureFan

Man, this is quite more frightening especially since the game Panzer Dragoon Saga is even more difficult to preserve, do to it's trickier hardware that's yet to be cracked on a wide scale and it being one of the few Sega Saturn games with Copy Protection. It's quite a shame since it's considered to be one of Sega's best and even rivals with the likes of Ocarina of Time in terms of best game ever made.

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Switch Could Revive Local Multiplayer

TreasureFan

@subpopz Ok then, I didn't really see any sarcasm within your statement, since it kinda seemed like your were actually serious on what you were saying. Plus even if the Joycon has a lot more functions in it then a regular controller, the majority of 3rd parties and gamers alike won't really use it, so it is a bit of hindrance in terms of price when you think about it.

Re: Video: Hackers Bring Nintendo 64 To The NES Classic Edition

TreasureFan

@jsa Unfortunately the Nes Mini lacks supply and slowly loosing demand as days go by. The people who wanted it in the first place have either already gotten it or simply losing interest.

To be honest it seems more like a shipping error than a lack of supply, since there are reports from others of it being plenty in some areas, but being scarce in others, who are still waiting for the next shipment that has yet to come in. Either way Nintendo might be shooting themselves in the foot with not fully stocking this gold mine everywhere that the demand is needed.

Re: Talking Point: Splatoon 2 is Set to be a Vital Early Arrival on Nintendo Switch

TreasureFan

@BigWhoady LOL, ok then. I didn't necessarily mean to bother you there, I was just saying that something like that was pathetic in my opinion. But you do have a point that there are instances of people being negative on purpose in some comment sections (Gatorboi or Yosume for example) however it is vice versa when somebody says something positive. You can still call them out if you want, but what I don't understand is, why would you bother with those commenters who made those specific half baked comments, even though they've already made a fool of themselves in the first place, it's just pointless and makes you look bad in the process in my opinion. Then again it is none of my business on the grounds, that I was just putting in my 2 cents. I have nothing against you, since usually you make very coherent points most of the time, but in this case I just wanted to know the perspective of the situation that was presented. No hard feelings and have a good day.

Re: Poll: Does Nintendo Switch Need Streaming Apps and a Web Browser, Or Is It All About Games?

TreasureFan

@BigWhoady I understand your point that people can go on the internet and stream videos with their phones. But what i'm trying to say is, in this day and age people want more from their devices, that includes gaming devices. Watching youtube or netflix and browsing the web on a bigger screen can be another benefit that the Switch could have, especially since it's a portable console. (Being a dedicated gaming console and having internet functionalities on the go can be very good in terms of marketing for the Switch) But regardless whether that feature gets released now or later, it needs it for consumers who would like to have the option.

(Response #398) What about Nintendo choosing to make games on Mobile or ambiguous emulation on Tablets or Smartphones?

Re: Poll: Does Nintendo Switch Need Streaming Apps and a Web Browser, Or Is It All About Games?

TreasureFan

@BigWhoady So what your saying is people should buy a smartphone or tablet instead of buying a Switch? I mean I understand that the Switch is a gaming device first, but it's more convenient to have online features on the Switch instead of dealing with two devices at once. It just seems more reasonable since it's a gaming device on the go and it would an easy selling point if it had online features at the ready.

Re: Kimishima Outlines Nintendo's Continued Attention on VR and Portable System Ideas

TreasureFan

@iGen The most probable reason why is because it the name "Wii" was in the title and coming off from the high selling horse known as the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo just thought "Hey! It's like the Wii, but with a screen! Watch it'll sell like hotcakes." And then it didn't, sadly. To be fair it wasn't just Nintendo's ignorance, but also a change in landscape within gaming, specifically for the casual audience, which the Wii U was solely aimed at.

Re: Nintendo Switch Appearance Earns Positive Impressions Among Super Bowl Commercials

TreasureFan

@NEStalgia @Santiago316 I know 5 million seems like nothing to scratch at, but Nintendo could use that for something a little bit more worth while in marketing. Yes, the Super Bowl attracts 80 - 100 million viewers however any profitable return for such an investment has gone dramatically down over the past few years, with online advertising being much more profitable, but it was still pretty cool commercial nonetheless.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Puts the NES Mini Up Against Retro Rivals

TreasureFan

The fact that they created a shortage on purpose and just stated that the demand for it was "Greater than we anticipated", was just a sleazy thing for them to do. They knew that a large portion of fans and normal consumers alike wanted it. The worst part is they'll probably never restock it, and give some asinine reason why they didn't. I wouldn't be surprised if they did the exact same thing to a Snes Classic Edition, if that ever comes to be.

Re: Video: Hideo Kojima Can't Resist Having A Go On 1-2-Switch

TreasureFan

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Calm down man. All Kojima was doing was having a little fun. Which is very good for Nintendo, since it gives them some good press on the Switch.

Also Kojima never trolled Nintendo fans by having Snake in Brawl. Kojima asked if Snake could be in Melee, but it was too late to implement him in the game. So they waited until the next installment to put him in. And so what if there isn't a metal gear game on the Wii? Blame Konami for that mistake.

Re: Nintendo Outlines Pricing Range for Switch Online Service

TreasureFan

Not a bad price point at all, however these are the Japanese price points, which means it won't be exactly the same in every region as everyone is raving about, but Nintendo should make the price cheap enough, so those who want to use the service can use it, without their wallets being sucked dry. Although I won't be using it since the games that i'm willing to buy on the Switch are only single player and i'm already paying for PS+. But a cheap price point is key.

Re: Kimishima on the Role of the 3DS After the Switch Launch

TreasureFan

I think the 3ds will stick around for just for a little while, until the Switch starts gaining momentum. If the Switch doesn't do to well in the long run, then we might see a successor in the DS line, to make up for a possible loss, but so far the Switch seems to be a promising investment by Nintendo.

Re: I Don't Always Agree With Shigeru Miyamoto On The Essence Of Zelda, Admits Eiji Aonuma

TreasureFan

@Jessica286 I know I sound like a fanboy, but I know Miyamoto isn't a saint when it comes to making great decisions in games. (Starfox 2 on SNES and Dinosaur Plant on N64 would of have been great send offs for those respective systems, if he hadn't had them either cancelled or reworked.) But I doubt he was the main reason why Sticker Star is the way it is. It was probably Intelligent Systems covering themselves after the backlash they got from Sticker Star, so they probably just said Miyamoto told them to, since many fanboys will agree with him on any decision whether it's good or not. I'm not trying to be a conspiracy theorist here, but even "IF" he did tell them to get rid of the story in Paper Mario, it's predominately Intelligent Systems fault for agreeing to such a foolish idea. Since you know? They thought it was a good idea to release it in the first place. And then it backfired on them.

Re: I Don't Always Agree With Shigeru Miyamoto On The Essence Of Zelda, Admits Eiji Aonuma

TreasureFan

@Kirgo I agree with you, that Miyamoto had nothing to do with how the franchise is now. People usually throw the blame at him, since he's one of the hire up's at Nintendo.

However I wouldn't believe that people would say that they disliked the story within Paper Mario in a survey, unless those people we're trolling or it was rigged (IDK), since the first 3 are considered the best by fans. Either way Miyamoto shouldn't be blamed for it, instead Intelligent Systems should be blamed for their incompetence within the franchise or lack of faith in it.

Re: I Don't Always Agree With Shigeru Miyamoto On The Essence Of Zelda, Admits Eiji Aonuma

TreasureFan

@Kirgo Actually story was very important to the Paper Mario series before the advent of Sticker Star. I've played the original Paper Mario on the Nintendo 64 and Super Paper Mario on the Wii, although different in gameplay, they still provide very good stories. However I've never played TTYD, but I seeing that has large (and very vocal fanbase) I can conclude that must have a good story as well.

The series backbone is it's story, it always should be. That's why a lot of people don't really care for Sticker Star and Color Splash, they didn't really have a story or at least a story that could keep us awake (Plus dull gameplay to boot). Color Splash's story is a bit of a step in the right direction, but it pales in comparison to the first 3.
