Man, the Switch is killing it in sales, which is great since there will be more than plenty of an install base to attract more third parties.
@Jessica286 Agreed. Arms looks like a game that could appeal to those who just want to casually play and to those who want to competitively play, much like Splatoon.
@Tarvaax Not really. Sales for the 3DS were just fine by the time Pokemon X & Y we're released. What saved the 3DS in my opinion was good marketing in the early months and a good stream of early hits like Ocarina of Time 3D, SuperMario3DLand, & Mario Kart 7. Though X & Y did give it a significant boost in sales.
@BiasedSonyFan Yeah I remember those comments. I think the reason why everyone was freaking out about it was because it wasn't the usually holiday season launch we're all used to, but it still sold well, 1.5 million units within over a week's time, which is a really good starting point for it.
I guess i'll pick up the Majora's Mask cover when I pick up my Switch in a couple months. Though I think my Switch's screen would be fine without it, but the aesthetic of it just looks too good to pass up.
As long as Nintendo keeps up the marketing and supplying good games to it, it'll do just fine. It be even better if there was a brand new monster hunter released for it soon.
I highly recommend getting either Waku Waku 7, The King of Fighters '98, or Metal Slug 3. Although the commenter Gogiguy has already stated this, there are audio desync issues and washed out color palettes that should be noted. And will be patched by Hamster soon.
This isn't surprising, especially from the likes of Gamestop. You'd trade in your own soul and all you'd get would probably be $20 dollars worth of store credit.
@Einherjar Yeah, I shouldn't be surprised by how poor the emulation on PS4. Heck, Wild Arms 3 used to crash during enemy encounters and needed a patch to fix it. But time will tell to see what other Neo Geo gems come to the Switch, but Blazing Star and Metal Slug are on top of my list, that's for sure. If they're released.
@Einherjar Yeah, if we ever see something like that on here, it probably wouldn't be from the PS2 port, because of legal issues. But you're right about the frame rate issues being a problem, what makes even worse is that it's $20 on PSN. I know the Metal Slug Anthology on PS2 is rare and all, but they've could have at least done something with the frame rate in order to make it worth that much.
@Yasume It's not a bad game, just because you don't want it doesn't mean everyone shouldn't buy it. I know you're free to speak your mind but some people are actually happy that some these games are coming to the Switch.
Cool. I'll just sit here and wait until it gets restocked...whenever that happens. To be fair there are some out in the wild, but there either scalped or somewhere on a distant store shelf.
@BiasedSonyFan No I have not read the blind gamer article, but i'm not labeling motion controls as a gimmick, it's just some people call it that. If you're trying to paint me as someone who's anti-motion control, then just stop right now, I like the Wii and the Wii U, but it doesn't mean there not subjected by the public as gimmicks. And why you are asking me to figure the irony of something that we weren't even talking about in the first place. I already know PS4 pro is a stupid idea, but asking me to figure out the irony behind it just makes you sound like some pretentious jerk. I'm just saying that the majority of Wii owners didn't buy a Wii U because of the success of smartphones in the casual market, which is a factor why it didn't do so well.
@BiasedSonyFan The Wii was a success and Nintendo did make a lot of money from it, but those 85 million users didn't come back for the Wii U, because they thought it was just another gimmick. A lot of them would rather play on a touch pad on a iphone then on a Wii U gamepad. Nintendo's doing very well in marketing the Switch to a broad audience and sales for it have been great. But it was the mainstream casual audience that touted Nintendo as a gimmick machine maker, that's why a lot of people didn't take the Wii U seriously, because of that.
@Turbo857 @BiasedSonyFan I understand that, but I wasn't talking about the Switch. I was talking about the Wii's sales and how Turbo857 stating "100 million Wii consumers would disagree with you." which is a bit of an hyperbole since the majority of wii purchasers never really played it again. The reason why I brought up casuals is because they were the largest group who bought it and made it look like it was a fad, that's why there's this stigma against motion controls. People would rather boast about it rather then actually play it and as soon as they got bored of it, they didn't bother with it. What's even worse is that Microsoft and Sony jumped on with their own 'motion control' products that didn't even work half the time, because all they really saw was just fad to make a quick buck, which worsened the stigma. You understand what i'm trying to say now?
@Turbo857 Motion controls in games are fine, (As long as there done right), however the Wii's success was a bit of glass cannon in terms of replayability for most. The reason for that is because of it's pioneering motion controls attracted a curious wider casual audience leading to high sales for it, but most of those customers were like a said 'casuals', who would go out and buy it and play Wii Sports with their family and friends, then never touch the thing ever again. The people I knew who regularly played it were Nintendo fans, but everyone else that I knew who had it, just kind of let it sit there and collect dust. Games like WarioWare: Smooth Moves, Sin & punishment: Star Successor, and Rhythm Heaven Fever were great motion controls game, however the majority who bought the Wii never really cared much about it after they got it, especially with the advent of smartphones.
@UK-Nintendo The worst part is that they didn't even add Super Mario World to it. I know that original version of Super Mario All Stars is a bit more well known, but the should've at least re-released the version that had included Super Mario World.
@PlywoodStick Your not wrong. I can get the Sligeach is annoying, but he does have the right to speak his mind whether it is negative or not. The angry mob that's after him is a bit childish in my opinion and shows why a lot of people despise Nintendo fans.
Good to see that the sales of the Switch's launch are strong and it'll be even better if Nintendo can keep it that way through some good marketing and game announcements. If they can keep that up and address some minor problems with the Switch, Nintendo might have a runaway success.
@Kalmaro Nintendo will try their best in stopping piracy, but all they're really doing is stalling the inevitable, while also annoying their consumers.
@yomanation My Nintendo 64 memory card begs to differ.
I might pick it up later on in the year, when more games are announced for it, but for right now I need to finish my backlog of games before I go out and buy another system.
I can see that you guys made this in line with the Switch's launch to promote a new era for Nintendo and that's fine by me. But my only concerns are that it's a bit cluttered and a little hard to navigate through some articles. I hope you guy fix it in the future, but other than that it looks great. Keep up the good work.
Well at least it's not bad. It's just a game that shows off what the Switch can do in terms of hardware. Although I don't really care for the idea of HD Rumble, the fact that it shows the potential of it in this game gives me hope that Nintendo will do something much better in the future. It's sort of tech demo for the Switch's capabilities, I wouldn't pay $50 for it,(I wouldn't pay $30 for it either) but if it becomes much cheaper later on, maybe i'll grab it.
@Kalmaro Still getting releases though, no matter whether their successful or not. It's just nice to see publishers and indies giving some life to the Vita.
@Anti-Matter Don't worry, Some these games will probably get a physical release. It's just cheaper to release it digitally, because of the cost of releasing physical copies, but if there is enough demand for a physical release it is possible for it to happen, although a limited run.
Cool discussion. I'm excited to get this game on my Wii U. Although the Wii U, will be considered a failure by some, for what it's worth, it had a good selection of games. Although The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the Wii U won't be the definitive version, I'll still consider it as one last goodbye to a neglected system.
@BiasedSonyFan Well, it's simple the North American Dreamcast launch is considered to be the best because it had a lot of games from different genres that would appeal to different gamers, plus it being the most powerful console at the time, with out of the box online capabilities and the clever marketing drew in consumers for the Dreamcast. The another reason why it's considered the best is because nothing of that specific caliber had been done for. An "overnight success" as you will. Before that it usually took clever advertising to get the console up to speed in terms of selling well. Although the Snes and the Playstation were the first consoles to achieve this without that need, the Dreamcast broke their selling records in console and games wise. The games that were launched were quite good at the time, such as Soul Caliber, Powerstone, and Sonic Adventure. And yes, you can say it's a subjective claim, but the fact is a large number of gamers do believe that it is true, whether it's nostalgia based or not. It's still considered by many as one of the best. Greatness is always subjective.
Honestly I didn't mean to step on your toes, but what you said at # 143 "What facts? The only facts you've shown are that Dreamcast video games sold well at launch; that has nothing to do with how great the video games are." was kind of a dumb thing to say, and contradicting. The reason why it contradicts, is the notion that you don't think those games were good, but that's also subjective, (How would you know how good they are if you haven't played them).
Also apologize on my actions, with some of my comments, the whole "Cognitive Experiment" was a foul move in my part and it's my responsibility to apologize for it. However the whole "Don't pretend as if your personal, subjective gaming taste is somehow a universal fact for everyone else." is nonsense since greatness has always been subjective whether it be based on movies or video games. Greatness is never fact it's opinion, so why even bother comment with someones opinion on greatness when it's never a fact?
Although I'm not getting it at launch, I'd love to see what leads up in a few months after launch, like new hardware or game announcements in future Directs or E3, the Switch so far seems to have a lot of potential, although the launch line-up is a bit soft, in time there will be enough to please everyone.
@BiasedSonyFan Well I guess I have to come clean. I was actually testing a cognitive hypothesis whether or not someone would take a trolls bait. My first comments were actually real however my sales = greatness comment were just a ruse to see if you would take the bait and go on a tangent like a fool. And it worked precisely as I planned. At first you faked replied ,Which is in my opinion the most spineless way of making a point. (So I guess you're the real chicken here.) Then you began contradicting yourself over and over, which made your arguments much more invalid, so I took the next step in repeating my "argument", however that made you just go to name calling and using random intellectual synonyms to prove your point, but all it did was worsen your already baseless argument. I got a real kick out of seeing you try your hardest to one up me, but seeing you fail again and again became quite tiresome (I might actually take pity on you for taking the bait). Anyway thank you for taking part in my cognitive experiment and I hope this doesn't ruin your credibility even more. This will probably be my one and only time doing this though, but I just wanted to see first hand how someone will go through thick and thin just make their point, only to realize they were being trolled the entire time. Good day to you.
@BiasedSonyFan Lol, you just did it again and confused someone with another poster. Then attacking someone who was just asking a question. Congrats you really are ignorant, Keep contradicting yourself friend and a good day to you.
@BiasedSonyFan Boy, you really like contradicting yourself, it's already bad enough you're making a lot of weak arguments of complete nonsense, but to keep coming back over and over, only to worsen your credibility, is quite sad really.
A large amount of people consider Mario and Zelda as great games, and they sell well because of it, if they are some who do not like Mario or Zelda that's fine, but they're still considered the best by many others. If a large amount of people are willing to buy it, then it does great in sales and those games have a high probability of being good, since no one is going to go out and buy a bad game. There is a thing called reviews and game research before buying a game, you and your friends should try it sometime. However you commit the unfortunate appalling delusion of ignorance, something that will always grab you, until you see the light of comprehension.
@Tsusasi Yep! The Saturn is an absolute importers dream, (although for some it's the only way in order to play it on a budget), but either way it's a great system overall. Especially with games like Radiant Silvergun and Silhouette Mirage.
@3MonthBeef Nope. If it was an ultimate failure then people would scoff at it like the infamous Virtual Boy or 32X. Although the Dreamcast didn't last long it'll still be regarded as the best.
@PlywoodStick It's good see the Sega Saturn getting the praise it deserves. So many great games made by Sega on that system that have either been lost to obscurity or lost all together.
@BiasedSonyFan They are the opinions of gamers. The gamer bought the game they liked and the sales show it. If the game wasn't great or decent they wouldn't have bought it. Software selling well does equal software greatness, for example Super Mario bros, Ocarina of Time, etc. The reason why gamers buy good games is to play good games. And since those games were good, they sold very well.
P.S. Try hitting the actual reply button when making an argument or else people might not take you seriously
Lol, Vita 2. I love my Vita, (Dare I say, a bit more than my 3ds), with it's indie and JRPG library, and having psone classics on the go was an absolute blessing, but Sony's poor marketing and lack of faith made it the way it is. I hope the Switch can hold up the torch that the Vita and 3DS are leaving behind.
@Dr_Lugae Those were the days where it took a year or two to bring consoles out of Japan and into western markets. It's not like today where we have simultaneous releases in each region. Back then it took time to localize games and systems, now it's much easier.
It's not misleading, that's like saying the NES launch list was misleading even though it had 2 years worth of games in it's library when it launched in the US.

@PlywoodStick It's good see the Sega Saturn getting the praise it deserves. So many great games made by Sega on that system that have either been lost to obscurity or lost all together.
Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Launch Games & Release Dates 2017
@BiasedSonyFan They are the opinions of gamers. The gamer bought the game they liked and the sales show it. If the game wasn't great or decent they wouldn't have bought it. Software selling well does equal software greatness, for example Super Mario bros, Ocarina of Time, etc. The reason why gamers buy good games is to play good games. And since those games were good, they sold very well.

Re: Parent Trap: A Family Gamer's Perspective On The Nintendo Switch
@NintySnesMan That's good to know. I'm glad to see the Vita lasting a little bit longer, thank you.
Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Launch Games & Release Dates 2017
@BiasedSonyFan You just answered your own question. The games that came out were great and sold well. It's not rocket science.
Re: Parent Trap: A Family Gamer's Perspective On The Nintendo Switch
Lol, Vita 2. I love my Vita, (Dare I say, a bit more than my 3ds), with it's indie and JRPG library, and having psone classics on the go was an absolute blessing, but Sony's poor marketing and lack of faith made it the way it is. I hope the Switch can hold up the torch that the Vita and 3DS are leaving behind.
Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Launch Games & Release Dates 2017
@Dr_Lugae Those were the days where it took a year or two to bring consoles out of Japan and into western markets. It's not like today where we have simultaneous releases in each region. Back then it took time to localize games and systems, now it's much easier.
It's not misleading, that's like saying the NES launch list was misleading even though it had 2 years worth of games in it's library when it launched in the US.
