It'll be my birthday soon, so I voted for "as soon as possible"!
I really wish I was better at these games, Bayo 1 is way too hard for me, I'd much prefer it if it was updated to have Bayo 2's progression system, so you don't have to start the game from scratch to play on higher difficulties.
That and Bayo 1's difficulty modes in general are insane, I beat Bayo 2 on every difficulty, but could barely get through 1 on Normal, I hope 3 isn't as hard as that
Monster Hunter has been well known to have lots of cool collab content, there's been Sonic collab stuff before, and Rise also has some Sonic stuff too. So they're repaying the favour, I like it when devs work together like this
Japanese sides of studios seem to really make the effort to keep the same voice actors, it seems to be a weird American thing to have more problems with keeping them consistent from game to game or across media like from a game to a film.
I still can't get over how particularly egregious the recasting for FFVII Remake was
@Yosher From what I understand, it's not taking the colours from Link's textures, what it's doing is that it's interpreting the code that determines Link's pose in the equipment screen as texture information
Hmm, I hope they say something about it soon then, the silence is odd
Speaking of things that have missed their release, what happened to "Sword of the Vagrant"? That was supposed to come out in June, and yet it still doesn't even have an eShop page
Kinda tired of this weird fascination of replacing (or not hiring) professional voice actors in favour of famous actors... it even happened with Final Fantasy VII Remake, where the people who had been voicing the characters in English for almost 20 years were all unceremoniously thrown out, (it didn't happen with any other language) and they weren't happy about it... I wish more people cared about that...
Can we get more characters for Mario Kart too? 'Cos personally I wanna gut out all the non-Mario characters and unnecessary alts of Mario and Peach, and replace them with characters like Pauline, Birdo, E. Gadd and such...
For the life of me I can't understand why people who have no idea what they're doing, no love for the franchise they've somehow been hired to write, have disrespect for the loyal fans, and can't write to save their lives keep getting jobs where all they do is ruin everything they touch
Wait, can someone pester Team Ninja/Koei Tecmo to make the free DLC for "Dead or Alive: Dimensions" available through the eShop?
They originally distributed it really weirdly, you had to be online in a certain window and it'd download the one that was available automatically. But it didn't always work, so I'd like to make sure that people can get them.
Don't know if it's like this on other platforms, but the Switch version even on the current patch (I think): -Frequent stutters -Dropped inputs -Wonky hitboxes -Some loading screens are weirdly long -Doppelganger boss getting stuck in a wall (admittedly makes the fight a lot easier) -Aurora's hair physics are super jank -At a certain point, Aurora looks like she has Miriam's head, and it looks really bad
There's probably more stuff too. The game is still fun and it was a LOT more broken on release, but after SO long it STILL has so many issues. Play it on something else if you can.
Haven't Embracer said that they're very interested in game preservation? Them holding all these rights hopefully means that they'll at least try to get older games from the companies they own working properly on modern hardware.
The eShop's Game Voucher system pretty much confirms that they won't get permanent drops. They do occasionally go on sale, but don't hold your breath on the price going particularly cheap, even when they do get temporary discounts.
I wish they'd do the course thing the other way around, bring the courses/characters and such to MK8D first, then tone them down for mobile... but sadly we don't live in that world
I still wish this game got more updates after they were done with the online stuff...
There's stuff you can't get anymore, the online requirement for the store and golden wumpas is dumb, the prices for stuff are way too high and the golden wumpas you earn are way too low. The loading times are still atrocious... I've only played in split-screen once, the frame-rate was really bad and after a few races the game crashed...
Still confuses me why they put Metal Mario, Tanooki Mario, Pink Gold Peach, and Cat Peach all on separate character slots, instead of treating them like "costumes". They could've added even more costumes if they did that and I wouldn't have minded.
But I really thought that when Odyssey came out that they would add Pauline in an update... it's also missing characters like Birdo, Petey Piranha and such. Heck they could even have put Boom Boom and Pom Pom in there.
There's so many characters and yet these spin offs have wildly inconsistent rosters.
@nintendoknife Maybe clunky wasn't quite the right word, it's just because of the very deliberate nature of it, and the in-built wind-up for every action. I couldn't think of a better way to describe it at the time.
I do really like the original, so I hope I didn't give off the impression that I dislike it. I just needed to get my thoughts out into a comment when I read it deing described as "turn-based" when it isn't.
The original Crisis Core wasn't turn-based, it had very clunky action-oriented combat. You could only take a certain number of extra abilities with you as Materia, and scrolled through them with L and R (I think), selecting one with X. Triangle was Block, and Square was dodge, all done in real-time.
You can still see the original's attack "menu" in the bottom right of the UI in those shots. Though I think now you may be able to also use Materia with button combo shortcuts? And your regular "Attack", without using Materia, may have a dedicated button now, I'd assume.
I don't know that I really even want remakes/remasters of anything anymore. I just want games playable on more modern hardware, at a higher resolution, with all their content and without any performance issues they would've had from being played on the old original hardware, and fixing up controls if they were wonky.
While we're at it, can we also fix the entire copywrite system too? So games don't get lost because of legal nonsense? Including things like licensed music, 'cos all of this is kinda driving me crazy...
Man I wish someone like Virtuos had ported games like Crash Team Racing and Bloodstained, those games STILL have problems, I bet there are other games too that could really benefit from a company with some proper porting knowledge.
For those not in the know, the "Revealing women's clothing" is Kainé's outfit from the first Nier.
I hope this means we may also get Replicant, and that it pushes enough sales to get the Gestalt version of the story added as DLC (as they said they might if the sales were good enough)
Crisis Core was my first ever Final Fantasy game, and still one of the very few that I've actually played. Not a fan of the voices, especially Zack's, they made him arrogant and I really don't like it. There's something a little off about how it looks in-game too.
The higher quality versions of the original's pre-rendered cinematics look great, and Zack's new VA did do a much better job of his iconic line at the end than he did in the FFVII Remake...
I'm a little sad they decided to completely replace the compilation Buster Sword, they could've explained why Angeal/Zack's had the gold bit on the cross-guard, and that Cloud perhaps covered it up to protect it? But no, they're just replacing it completely.
Actually Bow in Rise is already incredibly good at cutting tails, I do it a lot and it's fun too. It's harder in Hub quests, 'cos of the extra health, but still doable, especially if you have a bit of the Partbreaker skill.
I really really hope this means we'll get properly ported versions of all the old Tomb Raiders (including all the extra levels from the Gold versions, the Times Exclusive level, and the DLC for Underworld and such) to modern PCs and consoles!
Does this also include Blood Omen? I'd love to see the same done with the full Blood Omen/Legacy of Kain games, people need ways to play these without faffing around trying to get them to work properly.
I don't want them to be "remastered" or whatever, I just want all of these to be available and easily playable...
It saddens me that the first comments on things like this are from folks who don't even like the idea of it, and would never have considered playing it even if it was good.
I for one would like to see good games that aren't scared to use this kind of content, or pressured to change by people who aren't even interested.
Ratings boards exist for a reason, let them do their jobs. No one is making you buy them, it'd be nice if people didn't try to pressure people into such ideas. If you don't like people forcing their views on you, then perhaps don't do that to other people.
I like big boobs and I'm not going to apologise for that. If other people don't like that, then that's perfectly fine, but I do take issue with people saying it shouldn't be allowed. Society is weird.
There are real women with big boobs, and if you want to represent that, then go ahead. I don't like the idea of marginalising and ostracising them, and demanding things be changed just because some vocal people don't like it.
Now that doesn't mean that I'm comfortable with playing something like that in front of anyone, because personally I'm not, I'm insecure about that I guess.
People will always judge you no matter what you do, and think you're something that you're not based on one tiny interaction, such as how you look. This mentality is insidious, and we do it to each other all the time, even though we all know that we hate it when someone else does it to you. I wish we'd all be more aware of that.
Crazy that we're getting new courses for this, and so many as well! I'm intrigued to see what the other ones will be.
Though I'd love more characters too... at least add Pauline and maybe like Birdo or something, it's honestly baffling how inconsistent the rosters are for these spin-off games.
I would've liked to see more added to the battle mode too though, such as more old battle courses, and things like shine runners or something.
1. Rathalos is a Boss and an Assist Trophy 2. The Mii costumes were in SSB4 as well 3. The release of Rise and incoming release of Stories 2 as well as these Spirits gives the series even more exposure
If anything I'd say this is more likely to be gearing up for a reveal. The things that I would potentially count against it are that Palicoes/Cha Cha/Kayamba aren't Assists when they could've been, and Byleth having some moves that are sorta Monster Hunter-adjacent.
It's entirely possible to me that they could be working to implement some of the new moves from Rise, like some Wirebug stuff.
Monster Hunter has a great presence on Nintendo hardware, and huge potential to be a fighter with all the moves and weapons spanning the series.
I don't necessarily mind if it doesn't happen, as there's already so many characters that could be in that aren't, but I do think it'd be a missed opportunity.
I really wish companies would just figure out already that cloud gaming will never be mainstream until they put serious investment into the infrastructure first!
Fast enough and reliable enough internet for this purpose just isn't available for whatever audience it is they're trying to target. Plus the requirement of many powerful servers to host all this on, and then when it doesn't work out they'll just pull the plug and all those games go away.
It strikes me that it's not very well thought out in general.
The loading times are long for the kind of game this is, I really dislike the internet requirement for earning Wumpa Coins and viewing the "in-game" shop. I played it in split-screen multiplayer for the first time about a week ago, the performance was playable, but notably worse than single-player, and after a few races the game crashed.
I still played it a lot, and I've enjoyed my time with it, but from a performance standpoint, I would've greatly preferred if it had been ported by specialists like Panic Button.
Darn, I bought and completed Risky's Revenge on PS4 just last month!
Got the original Shantae on my 3DS (made liberal use of the Restore function, wonder if that'll be an option on Switch?), Pirate's Curse on Wii U and 1/2 Genie Hero recently on sale on Switch. Haven't got Seven Sirens yet though, but I probably will at some point!
Might still keep an eye on this, depending on the price.
Enjoyed the original on DS quite a lot, might be one of my favourite games actually.
Got the Switch version and played it in co-op with my little bro and we had a great time, I'm glad he got to experience it too! Don't know what people are talking about with the controls, worked fine for me and my bro. Amazingly the Switch version is still at 1.0.0 and has never had any updates.

Re: Poll: Bayonetta 3 Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?
@AngelSlayer Oh wow, I don't know if I somehow missed that, or if I eventually realised and just completely forgot xD
I dragged out the Wii U and you're right, thanks for correcting me!
Re: Poll: Bayonetta 3 Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?
@AngelSlayer I know you can do that in 2, but I couldn't find a way to do that in 1 when I played it, unless I missed something?
Bayo 1's way harder anyway, higher difficulties make enemies obnoxiously fast and overpowered, as well as dramatically nerfing witch time

Re: Random: Persona Composer Would 'Love' To Write Music For The Legend Of Zelda
I think sometimes it's easy to forget just how much variety there can be in one composer's work.
Takeharu Ishimoto for example has composed music for The World Ends with You and its sequel, as well as Type-0 and Crisis Core.
So I wouldn't write off things like this so quickly, even if it's still rather unlikely to happen

Re: Talking Point: It's About Time Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night Came To Switch
We need to also mention other things too, like:
Rondo of Blood
Castlevania Legends
Adventure Rebirth
Harmony of Despair
I'd love to see SotN with all the content of both versions in one release, or at least offer both PS1 and Saturn versions together.
The DS games are also a must, if they can figure out a proper way to do them that's not clunky or awkward that is.
The fully 3D games need a comeback too, I've never played any of those
