SwSh’s soundtrack is definitely a lot different from previous games. Personally, I love it, but obviously some people will prefer the old styles. Its a matter of tastes.
P5R had great FW sales, but its hard to look at such a huge drop as anything other than horrific. JRPGs suffer larger drops than other franchises, due to their nature, but we’re talking a 70-75% drop. A 90% drop doesn’t happen naturally! P5R’s WoM has been rather horrific since it launched (justifiably so, imo), and since WoM is king, the game has essentially zero long-lasting sales potential.
1. Fire Emblem’s drop from previous games in the series can largely be attributed to shortages and a much larger than average digital share. The game is consistently selling almost all of the allotted stock, meaning its literally impossible for it to sell much more without Nintendo shipping more. Additionally, the digital share for the game will be significantly higher than normal due to both shortages and the NSO Vouchers (SMM2 also had an abnormally higher digital share bc of vouchers).
2. A 75% week 2 drop is perfectly normal for a RPG, which generally have poor legs. For comparison Awakening had a 75% drop and Fates had a 79% drop. Its a perfectly normal drop for a game of its genre, and it’ll be hard to tell what legs it really has till week 3 or 4.
3. Switch sales are falling because of the Switch w/ better battery life and Switch Lite coming out. There will probably be a small bump (~60k) when the better battery life version comes out, before falling again until the Lite comes out, when sales will soar once again. For comparison, PS3 sales dropped to around 2k a week just before the Slim version released.
@rjejr Don't forget Guest Star Mode, it's incredibly fun to speedrun it, and The Ultimate Choice. Even post-game, there's a lot of content to check out.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE How was Pikmin 4 "pulled" from the Wii U? The game hasn't even been announced, it's just something Miyamoto said exists. From the sounds of it, the game's still not done, so why would they release it on the Wii U?
@mateq Can people not get some basic information right? This is The Binding of Issac: Afterbirth +, a version only available on PC and the Switch currently. On PC, it's $36. On Switch, it's $40 with some extra things in the box.
@Cosats @Ballzilla @Jaredfrogman Snake Pass is missing the Time Trials mode in the Switch version for no good reason. It's objectively inferior to the other versions at the same price.
Street Fighter's price point is insanely high for what it is: a port of a $15 remake of a 25-year-old game with 2 clone characters and some Wii Sports Boxing stuff.
Also, the people who claim Splatoon 2 is just an updated port are being idiotic. We've seen, what, four stages and five weapons? And the game won't come out for months.
There's a new single-player campaign, completely new specials, chamges to how each weapon class works, new weapons, and more. How is this a port again?
The future's certainly looking bright for Nintendo; there's a solid line-up of upcoming games here. I think this upcoming holiday season is where Nintendo will really shine.
Bundle in MK8DX or Splatoon 2 and just watch the money roll.
Also, maybe it's just me, but I think we're getting a Direct next week.
@impurekind You must be misunderstanding what I'm saying. I think this mod looks amazing and I kind of want to try it out. However, I also believe that people, large corporations included, should be properly compensated for their products.
I've already bought Sonic 1 in two different ways that directly compensated Sega (Sonic Classics collection on the DS and on the App Store, so I'd be fine with downloading this.
However, there's billions of potential people who could look on this site who haven't played Sonic 1 and could download a ROM directly linked on this site. That's my problem.
@impurekind Nintendo Life directly linked to a ROM hack of a game that's available to buy in a way that directly profits Sega (mobile version). That's immoral, they're basically promoting piracy.
That's the 10th or so game to get something that's customarily not changed about the game on the Switch. Resolution increases, controller support, fixes to HD Rumble, etc).
@impurekind The worst part is that I'm afraid the Switch's HD Rumble, which is amazing I've heard, will be severely under used by anyone not named Nintendo. It'll be treated like normal rumble, which is already used wrongly a lot.

They have no credibility, and never have had any.

There has been a surprising lack of reading comprehension in the reactions to this announcement.
Re: Japanese Charts: Super Mario Maker 2 Knocks Fire Emblem: Three Houses Off Top Spot
Alright, let’s clear some things up.
1. Fire Emblem’s drop from previous games in the series can largely be attributed to shortages and a much larger than average digital share. The game is consistently selling almost all of the allotted stock, meaning its literally impossible for it to sell much more without Nintendo shipping more. TL;DR: Both FETH & the Switch are doing fine.

@rjejr Just wait for world 4, it's like 3 worlds in one.
Re: Super Mario Run Version 2.1.0 Is Now Live
@Julien Or they could be talking about the in-game purchase to unlock the rest of the game.
Re: Nintendo Download: 13th April (North America)
@BezBot You're in the minority. Demos, more often than not, hurt game sales.
Re: Feature: What We Expect From the Nintendo Direct - 12th April
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Oh snaps, that was back in 2015? Sorry about that, I must of misremembered. I thought that was from 2016.
But still, there's no evidence that it was ever Wii U game.
Re: Feature: What We Expect From the Nintendo Direct - 12th April
@Mogster I'm just taken the words from the man himself. https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2016/07/shigeru_miyamoto_provides_assurances_on_pikmin_4_development

Why are you even covering this NL? It looks to be one big scam; it's on Indiegogo for a reason.
Re: LEGO City: Undercover Sells Best on Switch in UK as Yo-kai Watch 2 Endures Poor Launch
A brand new game barely outsells a six-year-old game for the same system? Ouch.
Can't blame anybody but Level-5 though.
Re: The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe File Size Speeds Into View
@memoryman3 They left Daisy out because she's the worst character in the Mario universe. But yeah, Boo should have a costume; Waluigi too.

That looks really nice, if a bit expensive.
That's First 4 Figures for you I guess.
Re: Aonuma Says That Open World Is Here to Stay in Zelda Games
@Anti-Matter Let's get an open world Pushmo game where you can equipt him with armor & gear.
In fact, let's just get open world everything. Kirby? Open world. Mario Kart? Open world. Pikmin? That's gonna be a giant world, that's open!
That's sarcasm BTW. Open world most things would be terrible.

RiME, well, that should be obvious.

@Shellcore Since when have 2D platformers had a free pass? Maybe it's just that they don't have worse, outdated mechanics?
Re: Round Up: Yooka-Laylee's Scores Are In, And Critics Appear Divided
You mean the game I've been telling everyone would be mediocre for months now and have been called a troll for is actually mediocre?
I'm shocked.
Re: Australian Distributor Claims Switch Version Of RiME Has Been Pushed Back To Q3 2017
Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers
RiME
Snake Pass
Sad to see so many games trying to exploit and disrespect the Switch consumer base so soon.
Re: An Official Shovel Knight Art Book Is in the Making
If you know GameXplain at all, Ash Paulsen is personally working on the art book. From what I've heard it sounds pretty cool.
Probably won't get it though. The only real "art book" I have is Hyrule Historia. I'm not much of an art book guy.

Re: The Yooka-Laylee Rap Tries to be the Best and Worst Thing All at Once
Glad to see that people are finally realizing the game really looks mediocre. It probably won't even run well on the Switch.
What poor decision will Playtonic make next?
Re: The Yooka-Laylee Rap Tries to be the Best and Worst Thing All at Once
Meh. It's nothing special.
Just like the rest of the game it looks like.

There's also the Hello Nintendo podcast April Fools episode. I'm on it, so I'd suggest you watch it.

@Jumpman Putting challenges? I'm talking about golf, not mini-golf.

No golf game can topple the true champion- Mario Golf: World Tour.
Re: Super Meat Boy Forever Might Hop, Skip And Jump Onto Nintendo Switch
@roadrunner343 The developers talked about porting a mobile game before their console game. That's what's worrying.
