Famitsu's Japanese chart figures are now in for 4th - 10th November, revealing that Luigi's Mansion 3 has missed out on finishing in top spot once again.
Despite selling more than 150,000 copies in its opening week last week, the game couldn't compete with the new launch of Persona 5 Royal. This week it's Death Stranding's turn to ruin Luigi's party, with 185,000 sales securing top spot.
Elsewhere, Ring Fit Adventure is still performing well, with its total sales now topping 200,000 in the region.
Here are the top 10 (first numbers are this week's estimated sales, followed by total sales):
1) [PS4] Death Stranding (Sony Interactive Entertainment) {2019.11.08} - 185.909 / NEW
2) [NSW] Luigi's Mansion 3 (Nintendo) {2019.10.31} - 54.680 / 205.329
3) [NSW] Ring Fit Adventure (Nintendo) {2019.10.18} - 52.240 / 235.925
4) [PS4] Persona 5 Royal (Atlus) {2019.10.31} - 20.113 / 221.561
5) [PS4] Need for Speed: Heat (Electronic Arts) {2019.11.08} - 16.306 / NEW
6) [PS4] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (Sony Interactive Entertainment) {2019.10.25} - 16.179 / 171.754

8) [NSW] Minecraft (Microsoft Game Studios) {2018.06.21} - 8.321 / 995.523
9) [NSW] Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Nintendo) {2017.04.28} - 7.866 / 2.519.528
10). [NSW] Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Nintendo) {2018.12.07} - 7.693 / 3.324.998
On the hardware front, the Nintendo Switch family of systems is still comfortably outselling its rivals. Here are this week's figures, followed by lifetime sales in brackets:
Nintendo Switch: 54,249 (9,432,713)
PlayStation 4: 7,264 (7,166,947)

Man. Almost 10 million now between Switch & Switch Lite in Japan.
It's still a pretty good showing for the Weege.
Ring fit adventure is a stupidly good selling product
I heard that it keeps on running out of stores in Japan
Nintendo, I hope you will increase production because the next few months will be crazy
@rdrunner1178 Nintendo announced that Switch, incl Lite, passed 10M sales in Japan earlier in the month, so Famitsu's numbers are a little below the official number. I heard that it's because Famitsu doesn't count hardware sold directly from Nintendo's site
Great news that finally Switch original has more sales than Switch Lite!!
@DockEllisD I hope not. There are many other games that deserve it way more than this Pokemon.
Is there already crossover Luigi’s Stranding fanart?
Poor Luigi! Fated to always be #2...
On one hand, I´m happy to see Switch is selling close to 100.000 units per week.
On the other hand, I´m sad to see no sings of DQXI or Switcher anymore...
Poor Luigi. Is he forever destined to be #2?
Ring fit adventure is a really a surprise. Announced out of nowhere, but has been selling really well.
@SmileMan64 looks like it, starting next week, we will see Pokemon dominating for months to come...
Still pretty good for LM3. And another new iP up there for Kojima. It is actually the best new IP laUnch in Japan this generation.
After starting my Work Week. Death Standing + LM3 Is a perfect combo to have.
@DockEllisD That I can´t disagree with lol
Persona 5 Royal certainly dropped more than I thought it would.
Take a wild guess which one I will be buying for myself for Christmas out of Death Stranding and Luigi's Mansion 3.
SPOILER Luigi's Mansion 3
Death Stranding looks great, but in the end, Luigi's Mansion 3 is a game that I would rather have in my permanent collection. I can wait a few years and pick up Death Stranding for $20 or less at Gamestop.
@m8e3point1415 lol! Sorry. I ended up editing the my post.
Poor Luigi. You're always #1 in my eyes!
Good luck to Death Stranding especially when Pokemon Sw&Sh are coming this week.
Persona 5 Royal is doing really well for a definitive edition re-release just two years after the original version, not selling as much but still really strong sales would be nice if it was coming to the west sooner than Q2 2020 but Atlus are garbage with getting their games out in the west so to be expected
My Nintendo GOTY is Luigi Mansion 3. Haven’t had that much fun on Switch since Mario Odyssey.
@KitsuneNight The games ahead of Luigis Mansion right now? They will fall off that list much faster. Luigi has way longer staying power.
Ring Fit Adventure weekly Japanese sales:
1. 68.497
2. 64.045
3. 51.143
4. 52.240
Total: 235.925
Thats good Ring Fit Adventure is selling well still. That gives me hope that they'll make a sequel or another game that uses the ring thing accessory and won't just be another piece of plastic gathering up dust and taking up space once you're done with the game.
@westman98 Yeah this is insane
I wonder why Minecraft always sells well
@westman98 damn, very constant sales and even a raise in week 4. Possibly the most unexpected hit of 2019 since it looks like something that might sell really well in holiday season.
I'm so happy to see Ring Fit Adventure has had great sales. I hope for the holidays it only increases.
Ring Fit Adventure came out of no where and actually ended up impressing many.
I'm a firm supporter of the title and feel it has improved my life.
After reading multiple reviews and watching gameplay videos I feel that a more appropriate title for Death Stranding would have been Fetch Quest: The Game.
@m8e3point1415 they wouldn't be if they released P5R on Switch like everyone wants!!
@m8e3point1415 How? If it's in the top charts it must be doing decent
@AxeltheCorvikni becauseeits a great wholesome game that's surprisingly fun for all ages
@eltomo dude shut up and stop complaining. And it's not disappointing. At this rate buy ps5 on the ps3. I did that and bought persona 4 for 65 dollars. If your a nintendo fan you definently have that money lying around
@m8e3point1415 considering it's selling very similar to the original PS4 version as a rerelease with new content, I'd say that's extremely good.
@Angelic_Lapras_King Adventure isn't the only mode Ring Fit Adventure has; you can still incorporate the minigames and custom lists of exercises you want to concentrate and work on. The game has legs, so to speak, long after you've done Adventure.
@AxeltheCorvikni As someone who didn't "get" Minecraft before, there's multiple reasons: Minecraft can be a straight-up survival game, a creative game or a game to enjoy modded (like many of the PvP games on the servers). That and the game is especially fun when played with friends and family in any mode.
Not long now til the Xbox is outselling the 3DS
@Iacobus I'm sure it does, but the Wii Balance Board had plenty of games that supported it, even non-fitness ones. Every game has limited time before you either 100% it or get bored with it.
A new game or sequel would introduce new mini games and uses for the Ring Thing. I do want to buy the game but at £65, it would be more assuring that I can use the add on for other games and not be tied to just one game.
I know I rather play an actual game, with gameplay, then a walking sim
Tbf I've not fully checked the game out myself, but it doesn't sound like there's much gameplay involvement
luigi's mansion seems like a great hit by the numbers? It sure is a great game in my book
These numbers make it seem like nintendo is owning the place left and right, only to be - sometimes - ousted by a minor blimp of another platform. There's a lot of nsw numbers week after week.
@PickledKong64
Not everybody has or wants a ps3.
And not everybody can afford 60 bucks either.
Just saying.
Luigis number 1 in my eyes regardless.
The new Mario and Sonic game is showing some nice legs.
@KitsuneNight bruh if you have a nintendo game you are definently using 60 bucks to buy Nintendo games as they never get price drops. Plus theres nothing wrong with owning another console. Also if you really care play it yourself
P5R had great FW sales, but its hard to look at such a huge drop as anything other than horrific. JRPGs suffer larger drops than other franchises, due to their nature, but we’re talking a 70-75% drop. A 90% drop doesn’t happen naturally! P5R’s WoM has been rather horrific since it launched (justifiably so, imo), and since WoM is king, the game has essentially zero long-lasting sales potential.
@PickledKong64
LM3 is available on Amazon.fr for € 44,49 right now.
Somewhat lower than the launch price, isn't it?
So no need for a Nintendo fan to save 60 bucks for a Nintendo game. 🙂
@Ambermoon then no reason for them to still complain about persona 5. I'm in high school and my parents dont buy my games. I have a job and bought a ps3, persona 5 and persona 4 all for 65 bucks. Get my point? Just buy the freaking game and ps3
@PickledKong64
👍 Got your point.
@PickledKong64
I have on last count, 12 consoles. ( give or take )
There is nothing wrong with having different consoles, but my point is that some people cant afford more then one console.
To them 60 bucks is either a game or 2 weeks worth of food.
And in that case food wins.
Believe it or not a lot of people are at the poverty line or below it
and 60 bucks is major money to them.
And in the end video games are a luxury item.
And having the console also means nothing it could have been a gift or the result of saving.
My point stil stands : some people cant afford to throw 60 bucks at a game.
Now used games however.
Wow, I didn't realize Persona 5 Royale suffered such a big week-over-week drop of 90%. Looks like it won't sell much more than retail 250,000 copies in Japan LTD.
