Wow. It's been a long time since we heard anything about SEGA's Monster World IV coming to Europe, but it seems the project is still breathing if PEGI is anything to go by.
Interestingly the game was rated for Xbox 360 several weeks ago, but now a rating for the Wii Virtual Console has hit the 'net:
Monster World IV
SEGA Europe Ltd
The content of this game is suitable for persons aged 7 years and over only.
It contains: Non realistic looking violence towards fantasy characters - Non realistic looking violence towards characters which although human are not very detailed
System: Nintendo Wii - Virtual Console
Genre: RPG
Release date: 2012-03-28
Bear in mind the release date is just the release for the PEGI rating, not the game itself, so don't get too excited. It's also worth remembering the Australian Classification Board rated it last year.
Still, it's good to know that Monster World IV is (almost) definitely still happening, right?

It's just a shame that Sega can be relied upon to botch the conversion, squashing it into borders and slowing it down when running it through its horrible Mega Drive emulator...of course it'll charge us an extra 100 points for the priviledge and probably falsely advertise it as 60hz if previous hanabi imports are anything to go by.
Ever the optimist!
If this game doesn't get released on the Wii VC i will definitely turn into a Monster.
I'm beyond optimism at this point, sadly. When the company has a 100% track record on VC for doing this then there is little hope of change at this point. A real shame as The Mega Drive is getting some really interesting games late in the VC's life.
I normally look forward to imports on other VC platforms as they ensure a proper conversion; it's a shame that Sega's end up broken. They should at least reduce the cost to the price of these imports to that of a "normal" VC game if they can't properly emulate it.
Forgot about his game. Bring it on.
Enjoying Strider with its hard as nails gotta have another try gameplay since release and looking forward to MW IV because I never knew it existed until it was rated last year. The SEGA love on VC at the moment is great and it seems Nintendoesn't want to support it.
Now is the time to release Chakan the Forever Man
Very cute!!!
I will be getting the 360 version because of the 60hz option.
Grey Lancer was listed as 60hz but only runs at 50hz so dont hold your breath.
On WII its best to enjoy dragons curse and dynastic hero which are two great monsterworld games that are better then the sega counterparts. 60hz turbo duo.
finally feels like I've been waiting on this forever hopefully they don't take too long to put it up on VC now.
Xbox 360 version for me too.
Actually looking forward to this game. I hope the PS3 will get the Sega Vintage Collection: Monster World.
I loved the Monster world series alot, please releasethis and then and bring to usa...
360
Sweet. Now I just need arcade Monster Land and I have the whole series on the VC!
I feared we wouldn't get it anymore. Now there is still hope!
Was shocked when I saw the release, but then realized it wasn't for the game.
One of my most wanted VC games. Very excited. Will get it on release day and finally complete the Wonder Boy saga on VC.
1. Wonder Boy (MS)
2. Wonder Boy in Monster Land (MS)
3. Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap (MS)
4. Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair (MD)
5. Wonder Boy in Monster World (MD)
6. Wonder Girl: Monster World IV (MD)
It will be cheaper and better on Xbox 360.
Hm, the XBLA version will be upscaled... and Wii is 50hz. Decisions, decisions. Getting the game for sure, I really liked playing it in japaneese.
If its 60hz on wii that will be great for europe.
Im getting the 360 version because it contains a cool front end where you can play 3 of the titles. Also M2 are porting it so it isnt backboned.
One good thing for wii is that it has the superior dragons curse (wonderboy dragons trap) and Dynastic Hero (Wonderboy in monsterworld). These are the best versions of both of them.
Huh. I thought it was already released in Europe. I'm still waiting for a U.S. release. Until it arrives, I'll have to continue using questionable methods to play the game.
