Re: Review: Dillon's Rolling Western: The Last Ranger (3DS eShop)

Finally playing the game now that there's a lull in 3DS software. I'd never played the original, so to me The Last Ranger is pretty fresh. I have honestly never played anything quite like it. It is also very charming, with well-designed, likeable characters and some funny dialogue.

I do agree that a standard button setup might be best, as touchscreen controls can be inaccurate, and they are here. However the combat system is a blast once you understand exactly when to tap and swipe. A tutorial video for that would have been nice.

I'm thinking The Last Ranger is at least a 7, and perhaps an 8 if it adds some more interesting elements as the game progresses. I'd like to see the series continue, or see Dillon/Jiro in other Nintendo media; dare I say Smash Bros?

Re: Talking Point: Moving To Smartphones Is Not The Answer For Nintendo

If Nintendo put a simple port of Super Mario Bros., optimized for mobile and with no other changes made, for 99 cents? I'm thinking...10, 20 million downloads probably in the first week. Nintendo is in a unique position where they could really half-donkey the whole thing because they already have the software and the people to port it.

Mario Party was always so good at destroying controllers--making control sticks flimsy, hastening button weardown, etc--that it seems crazy to me to put one on an expensive handheld.

Also, no online play is a bummer. With a game like this it could be a really different experience.

Re: Poll: As the PS4 Arrives, What Do You Think of the 'New Gen' Environment for Wii U?

Technosphile

Microsoft had a lot of bad press, but Nintendo has worse: apathy.

For example, I live where both Microsoft and Nintendo's US headquarters are located. The local news did a feature on the midnight launch of the PS4, then described the console war as a two-horse race. Not one mention of Nintendo. Now you may scoff at that and say its just one instance, but I think there is a great deal of that sort of general public ignorance to Nintendo's products. And that is 100% on Nintendo.

I've said it before, but if this Christmas is very bad for the U and it finds itself outsold by its four competitors, Nintendo can go ahead and panic.

Re: Ace Attorney Producer Wants To Revive Capcom's Final Fight

As long as Capcom ends this trend of handing off beloved franchises to lousy western studios who don't understand those games anyway. Bionic Commando Rearmed was amazing, but only because Bertil Horberg is a genius.

I love Final Fight with all my heart. One of my favorite games of all time. I love Cody like he was my brother. But giving that name and those characters to some crap western studio--it was an insult to people who love Capcom's games. Capcom's REAL games.

So yes, Mr. Eshiro, please work on Final Fight Something. In Japan. And don't let anyone from anywhere else put their hands on it unless they've paid to play it.

Re: Wii U Players Won't Be Able To Join A Clan In Call Of Duty: Ghosts

It's like they want it to fail. Then they can save money not porting to the U, save money not running U servers. And best of all, they can blame Nintendo for the "install base".

What a screwjob for Wii U owners. You want to support these releases because you want the system to succeed, but the vaunted third parties keep giving you perfectly good reasons to not buy.

Re: Wii U Isn't Getting Need For Speed: Rivals Thanks To Low Sales Of Most Wanted

Bought a brand new copy of NFSMWU almost day one, was irritated by all the DRM in it, then that EA guy trashed the Wii U and I was compelled to shelve it. And truthfully, that game is just the driving parts of GTA, but without all that makes GTA fun.

While we're here, whatever happened to The 90's Arcade Racer which was to be an eShop title? Haven't heard anything about that one in months.
