The thing to remember in regards to announcements for the NX is that developers are usually reluctant to announce big titles for systems that have not even been officially announced yet. Certain titles don't matter in regards to this because they release on every single console no matter what, Just Dance being one of those games.
@gcunit GTA V did a decent job of it. Drive/Walk around, see random event marker pop up on map, go to event, crazy crap ensues. My favorite was always that one spot off the side of the highway where everyone killed each other and you just walk in after the fact and take the suitcase like in No Country For Old Men.
@LUIGITORNADO Zelda is the winner so far as being the game of E3. Did you see the setup they had for it, absolutely incredible. One of the most awesome displays I've ever seen. I want that Link statue. I have no where to put it, but I want it. And the game look amazing too.
When it comes to which company won, Nintendo didn't win because they really only showed off the one game. M$ got the most mentions as shown above (likely due to the XBOne S announcement), but it seems to me that Sony won when it came to the games announced/shown for the PS4. Though until I dig deeper into everything showcased it is hard to pick between the two.
@edcomics They don't want it to be overused, but if it has 20 hearts and you only play once a day for a few hours you may not even need to worry about losing him until the next day. Plus, if they let you feed him to heal then he will be the ultimate Zelda companion.
I doubt I'll be able to play the game without Wolf Link. That feature looks like the best use of Amiibo yet.
This game simply looks amazing. This is why I never doubt it when Nintendo delays games. Yes, a part of it was for the NX version, but they never stop tinkering with game design, and it looks like they just hit a 600 foot homer out of the park.
@ImDiggerDan Signed items are graded differently. Basically they are just checked for authenticity. No actual grade is given because the cartridge/disc or box are written on, therefore damaged.
One could argue this is more important than a grade.
@gcunit That Wii U owners were stuck with Rainbow Whatever (changes with region) and 3DS owners get this just annoys me. Both are better suited for the other system (touch heavy vs traditional).
I'll be passing on Generations. 4U was my first handheld MH game and I realized quickly that I didn't like it (not the game, the cramped controls). MH is a console series for me, unfortunately Capcom doesn't have a console MH planned as far as any of us know.
The pictures themselves look real, but that doesn't mean someone didn't just 3D print it to fool everyone. Personally I don't mind the concept behind the design, but it looks uncomfortable to hold for long sessions. And, lack of actual buttons would be extremely annoying. Something touch screens just don't have is that blind tactile feel. Without it your always looking at the screen to be sure your actually hitting the buttons.
Your not alone in that feeling. I sunk about 2000 hours into Tri and 3U, but I just can't stand playing 4U on the 3DS, even with the second stick on the New 3DS. I myself need to see it on the big screen using a comfortable controller. Long sessions on the 3DS on high action games just annoy me. Hopefully we'll see a return to console when the NX releases.
The reason that TPHD doesn't have the same hype is because of it's art style. Realistic graphics from the 480 era of gaming simply don't hold up as well, even with higher res and all new improved textures. More colorful graphics just tend to hold up better because of their more cartoonish art style that helps us suspend belief. The more realistic something is, the more we notice the flaws. It is why WWHD looks so good, why SS still looks good despite being only 480, and why TP looks so awful on 1080 TV's (at least until HD releases).
I have seen clean 1080 videos of TPHD, and they look great, but that doesn't change that it's 480 roots are still plainly visible in it's character models. This won't take away from my enjoyment of the game at all, but I am simply trying to state why there is less hype. It also doesn't help that videos of it have usually been immediately followed by shots of the gorgeous Zelda U. Seriously, that game is looking amazing.
@Indielink IGN's recent video of the changes (don't think they made it, but they had posted it) was one of the best videos I've seen for it so far. Full 1080 with what is either excellent or very little compression. It looked fantastic.
@ZAZX Actually, when they first came out there wasn't a clear distinction between the games and the show that there is now. A lot of people named them that back then.
@crimsontadpoles Previously, Club points were earned based on titles purchased and attached to your Nintendo ID either via eShop purchases or entering a code that came with a physical copy of the game. These let you get either free digital games or physical rewards. There was also the Deluxe promotion, which was completely separate, that gave you points based on all of your eShop purchases (came out to about 10% back if I remember correctly) which could be redeemed for eShop credit. These were both completely separate sites that you had to go to in addition to the eShop.
Now, everything will be done automatically as they will all be the same service. Platinum (Club) and Gold (Deluxe) are just new names for old things.
Question about this glitch. Does it cause input lag as well, or is input still responsive while the glitch occurs? It looks like it is still responsive which is wildly different from lag on old school games. In this regard it instead becomes a play mechanic instead of your standard slowdown.
Hyperkin has had mixed to terrible quality control, however, they have seemed to take the design of this controller very seriously since it's initial design. If it is made of quality materials then it could be a very good controller.
@Xenocity There is no technical reason it couldn't work both ways (video streaming). And save files could be as simple as a 'sync data' option on either console assuming that the games themselves don't do it automatically when using both at the same time (or possibly cloud saving).
My prediction (want) is that NX is actually two systems, a console and a handheld, the handheld continuing with the dual screen format. They would be separate purchases to keep individual costs down. They will share the same basic architecture which will make it easy to port games between both systems. The main console will come with a standard controller, but will support legacy controllers (Gamepad) for backwards compatibility as well as being able to use the handheld as a controller for the console. For games available on both platforms, the handheld would display the touch interface for the game as well as the option for offscreen play (games made for only console could support offscreen only). Games made only for the handheld could stream the feed from the handheld to the console, though it would likely be at a lower resolution than your TV.
The whole point is synergy, making everything work together effortlessly, but at a price cost effective to the end users (maybe they only want or can afford one of them). Will this happen? To early to tell, but it is what I would shoot for if I ran Nintendo.
I use to have this game. Always ran out of fuel even when I set a perfect travel path to minimize usage. Never completed until I used a cheat for unlimited fuel. Was actually a decent game after that.
Would never do this myself, but cool to watch. Eventually someone will beat it, but it took the creator, an extremely skilled player, 9 hours to beat. Most people only do this kinda stuff in tool assisted videos.
I regularly destroy most anyone no matter where they are from, but the lag is still annoying. Japanese players especially seem like they have instant transmission (DBZ reference) jumping around me like crazy. And often there are splats where I just splatted them and 3 seconds later I'll just splat with no one around with the camera focusing on the recently splatted enemy.
Basically what happens is their character has the appearance of super speed on our side of things and our characters stand still like a tree while they get a free splat on their side. I also question that they are better. Obviously there are always those that have no life outside of gaming and can play and hone their skills all day long, every day, but outside of those players who I'll willing go toe to toe with, they suck just as bad as any other player I splat.
That said, the last 2 months since I bought the LAN adapter, issues have been at a minimum, japanese lag still being and issue though improved.
@BertoFlyingFox "Square Enix should really release this sucker on the WiiU VC finally."
I already have the Wii VC version, but this would be awesome because it would finally give people like me who just can't get the Super Jump timing down to finally get the Super Jacket (via Save State). I managed to get the Attack Scarf, but never had the patience for 100 jumps.
They are 2.93 million units shy of their target hardware sales numbers. Splatoon will continue to sell, but I'm not sure how many units it will move. The only other games that I can imagine increasing sales is Star Fox (some, but not a ton), Xenoblade (with advertising, maybe), and Mario Maker (will at least move some, but could potentially be a lot). Really, I don't see it happening, unless (and this is a big what if) they release Zelda after the holiday season in Q1 2016. That would move millions of units by itself. Either they just hinted at it's release date or they are just being stubborn with their projections.
@PigmaskFan Or maybe the other team had 2-3 instrike users with Special charge up. When they all launch at once it is a sight to behold. Had one match the other day with 6 instrike users that all launched in a 15 second span. There were 5 splats from that barrage alone.
@Pinemeowth weapons are unlocked with online rank, so it takes a little while to have them all available. Definitely test out all weapon types to find out what works for you. Also, do single player first. Good warm up for online, plus you get free stuff for finishing it.
So many people not wanting an N64 version. The core game would be designed around the best specs that games had then, cartridge size, memory expansion, 64DD and any other specialty add on from japan that is useful for them. But, the game we would get would look better because it would be at a higher resolution than the original N64 spec. Basically think about playing OoT in an emulator at 1080p. The geometry is no different, but the rendered resolution makes things look great (except for blurry textures).
As for what it would be like, a mix of Zelda and Banjo seems like it would be a good fit.
@mikeyman64 Just made the jump myself. The head tracking isn't 100%, but it works the majority of the time (occasionally losing track, but immediately picking it back up). I keep it on between 50-75% on the slider. Just can't do 100% as it is too much artificial 3D for my eyes to take comfortably. Overall, this is the 3DS that should have always been, but Nintendo always makes sacrifices for cost reduction.
@BensonUii I suppose I should clarify what I meant. A single custom design using existing items will typically not be an issue even if it technically falls under infringement. The 3d printing I mentioned was meant to imply actual production of multiple copies for sale, in which case Nintendo should stomp their foot down hard.
@BensonUii There is a big difference from selling a one of a kind custom item from pre-existing toys (He had to pay for the Mewtwo figure, and Amiibo figure and the Mewtwo NFC figure for Pokemon Rumble) and trying to profit off of multiple sales of a completely new item (ex. 3D printed Mewtwo glued onto 3d printed bases with NFC chips containing copied information from the Rumble base). This is no different from reselling a used system with custom artwork on it.
