Yeah, I talked to the developer via Twitter, and he really seems like a nice guy. He's not laughing maniacally at us, he's not trying to deceive people out of their money, and he's certainly not trying to "bring more shovelware to the Wii U." Quite simply, he found that the IQ Test concept seemed to work well for the Wii U, and wanted to use the Gamepad to its full advantage. Hardcore Nintendo gamers were never the demographic he was aiming for, and the sooner that's realized, the better off we'll all be. This is a party game, a casual game meant for folks who just want to have a good time. That's not to say we can't leverage criticism, of course, and I feel like the review given here by the staff was definitely a fair one. Everyone deserves a fair shake if they're capable of developing games for the Wii U, and clearly it had to be approved by Nintendo themselves before it could get on the digital shelf of the eShop.
I wonder if this might have been the reason Nintendo had the one Mario website taken down. You know the one...where all of the original SMB was playable and had a level creator.
(As an aside, that is one GROOVY rendition of the Super Mario 3D World theme you have going on in that trailer! Did you guys actually make that yourselves to keep from Content ID matching, or is that in the game?)
Utilizing the StreetPasses I got for the Mii Plaza (18 total yesterday, I work at a spring break destination!), Super Mario Bros. 2 (US) and 3, AC:NL, and finally getting back to Pokemon Battle Trozei and Rusty's Real Deal Baseball.
They need to make it so that DS games/DSiWare can be played on 3DS without you losing the potential for StreetPasses! I never understood exactly why I had to sacrifice that connectivity just to be able to play my older games.
Absolutely LOVE the new StreetPass games, it brought the concept back to life for me in a big way and makes me feel much more involved with my Mii. I've only just now managed to complete Flower Town's 22 tickets and still have several more to go in the other games. Mii Force is just ridiculous with what it wants players to do to earn the tickets, but the others I can't complain about. They've brought new challenge and purpose to the Mii Plaza, and it's something that's quite welcomed.
Oh my goodness...my sides hurt! Super Mario 64 is one of my favorite games of ALL TIME, and yet, I have never encountered this level of glitchiness. This could only be the work of a Glitch Gremlin!
I hope SpotPass in SwapNote makes a comeback. I found it a fun way (if a little tacky and limiting) to communicate with 3DS friends. I always enjoyed the surprise of receiving them, especially the Special Notes. I plan on keeping it around in case that day comes, not to mention I have 400 SwapNotes I'd like to hang on to.
They couldn't just make it five and not have you miss 2 relay tags for every second one you use to fill your plaza? Still, I'm definitely grateful because relay tags are a nice little bonus for the commute home, not to mention trips to Nintendo Zone locations.
Make sure if you're going into a place you haven't in a while that has a Nintendo Zone, to go into the Browser and see if there's an initial page where you have to accept terms and conditions in order to connect. I did that, and haven't experienced any issues since!
Did anyone else get a little teary-eyed when the Mario 2 ending played, and it sounded -just- right? I know I did. Very inspiring, and actually a semi-decent way to see how to play the songs as well.
Why would a company like that try to block the sales of something that could promote interest in their product because of the similarities? That seems counter-productive.
@Jimbolicious This article helped immensely! I went to McDonald's this morning, and 2 minutes went by without the tag. I then went to the Internet Browser, accepted and connected until I was to the "You Are Now Connected" screen, closed the 3DS, and waited. Sure enough, 2 minutes later, I got relay tags for Crosswords Plus, NSMB2, AC:NL, and StreetPass Mii Plaza all at once!
I was able to get a bunch of tags in the first 2-3 weeks, but now it seems like it's happening less and less. For those reporting that it doesn't work, you usually have to be at a location anywhere from 2-4 minutes before the relay tag happens.
Unless there's a further price cut, I'm probably going to pass on Retail to Digital conversion for now. I bought the game for $16, and was hoping it'd be reasonable priced so I can finally have the digital with my save data.
Huzzah! I finally get a chance to make use of the Save Data Transfer Tool! Not sure I really want to buy a digital copy Sonic Generations for too steep a price considering I don't get a whole lotta use out of it, but it'll be nice to be able to keep around one of the titles I'm still StreetPassing with, and to be able to return the cartridge to free up that space on the back of my 3DS.

Re: System Update 8.1.0-19 Now Available on 3DS
@xj0462 No, but yes. I said those exact words before looking it up here, and it was a stability update, so I got what I expected. It worked out.
Re: System Update 8.1.0-19 Now Available on 3DS
I opened my 3DS, saw an update, and went "oh boy, I hope it's more stability!" Today's update did not disappoint.
