6fps! Putting the hardware through its paces!

Only just got round to buying undertale in the mkw / dkb lull.

Under no Illusion i will finish it by mid July, but will give me a good taste of it... especially when im in a hotel next week for a certain band embarking on a world tour that likely would have some terrible names for me 🤣

If they're honouring it, then I can see the more ethical and consumer related problems that you are facing, but also id take the money and run to that end.

At least you've done what you should do... just again (and I'll keep.banging this drum, as i was part of the problem when I had depression 15 years ago), some customer care people are terrible; either through problems at home (despite what work tell them, they can't just "leave home at home" - hated that), lack of training or just because they have no empathy for others which means they should never have had the job in the first place.

Some think its an easy job, but you need a lot of patience, emotional integrity and as stupid as it seems, the will to be able to speak to a manager to get something resolved if you don't know what you are doing.

More power to you for pushing it though - you are in the right! 👍

@Kidfunkadelic83 id suggest trying (somehow) to get the gift card back to amazon so they know its not been used, and get a replacement. Hardly ideal, but then everyone involved knows its legit.

It's amazon's responsibility (if I've read it right) to provide a usable gift card.

If its an e voucher, amazon should be able to contact sainsburys and check if its been used, and then sainsburys can cancel that number and authorise amazon to send another.

It's really not complicated, but some service advisors just don't know what they are doing!

May have misread and other way around, so reverse should apply. Sainsburys or amazon should be able to liase and check that card is not active / used and cancel the number, then issue a new one. Either way, simple. But for some... work 😵‍💫

@Tasuki funny as I used to import play arts and figures from there around 2002 (before the boom of some stuff id call general tat lately!) and if something got lost, they'd contact the carrier or send another out. Still use them to this day for "rare" physicals. I guess you just got some really rubbish representatives, unfortunately.

@zombie-paper have you explained to them the concept of an apex? It's down to where you turn that the AI will determine where to accelerate coming out, so if you end the corner quicker than them, you too can go faster down a straight!

@Serpenterror you do not need a hacked switch to use a MIG switch. Is a piece of hardware that goes into the machine. Once you eject the cart, the switch is not modded. Thats like saying putting a cartridge in a switch modifies it.

@HugoGED add to that my 150 carts generally tucked away safe and all backed up, never uploaded or lent anywhere else... some people use them legitimately- which im sure we both admit is still a legal grey area - if not I certainly do.

Erm... unless you mean in movement, you can spin... hold a+b whilst still and turn the stick...

But on topic, I've only done free roam to unlock mirror mode... only 4 knockouts to go and im done - loved the racing, not so enamoured woth the world - needs something else to spice it up.

@rjejr maybe i didn't specify correctly - there is (a) C port, HDMI and ethernet inside the back of the casing and 2xA ports out the left hand side of the dock.

As for the charger (and I may have misunderstood this), I think you may also need to be wary of using a S2 charger with a S1 as the power output is greater. Similar to how I had to keep an eye on my S1 using the Samsung charger 🤣

edit is it possible your child broke it and hid it as well? I remember i trod on my original plug in a drunken escapade and broke a pin on it, I found it doesn't take much pressure to snap a plug pin 🤣

@Thomystic beer ads? Have you tried another browser at all as I don't get ads - there's one named after the composer of the four seasons that I use, and its fine 😉

@rjejr eesh man! Thats some kid logic right there putting it into the tv... do you own a firestick and thats how they managed it?!

I guess luckily they're not too expensive... and I also use a Samsung 45w charger on mine - or I did... hasn't made any damage, and don't know if i should, but i did, so if your a Samsung family, maybe thats an idea?

And yeah I get what your saying- but the only USB-C on the dock is the power, which is same as the old switch - inside the flap for HDMI etc, and 2xUSB-A are out the side, same as OLED.

Luckily my S2 is in front of the PS5, and in a dark cubby hole, so the wires aren't to noticable - the only other way around it to some extent to hide the ruddy great cable sticking out the top is hiding it behind the TV (dock and switch) and looping the camera wire behind / under said TV.

I guess nintendo looked into the possibility of a dock USB, but decided costs (seeing as they sell docks seperate) and may as well cram it all
into the console... i guess there's some logic, no matter how small!

As someone thats trying to 3 star 150cc only to save doing them all over again, and is on the last knockout tour to unlock mirror mode, only to keep restarting, yes 🤣

@Crimson_Ridley I did talk a little about ps5 - but only because they asked if i had other consoles, so basically said i now get the best of both worlds and I won't buy "premium" games on s2, only ps5; just so they know. They wanted feedback, I gave it!

@JohnnyMind a problem that will.arise if nintendo patches it somehow now with a pro controller will be people shouting that they've done it deliberately to stop people using old controllers and buying a pro 2...

Personally I didn't mind. I've more money than sense half the time and have 2 pro controllers and now 1 pro 2 (if that makes sense, haha). But equally i can see others' points if say even 2 years down the line with a lite or upgrade they say "oh and now you can use them"...

If 3rd parties can sort this out, nintendo could and it's going to be another easy hit for some people...

@rjejr there are USB-A (fat) ports as standard; whether you can use the relevant webcam that way, I don't know - but USB-C will have to be plugged into the slot above the console, whether docked or handheld.

I actually had the hori camera at 1st and eventually got ro test it out with friends on Sunday night with a mkw session. Works ok, but image was dire and decided to keep it as an expensive trinket to display and buy the official... the image is much better!

If you want a camera "on the go", the hori would suffice (it's just a pipe base that the plant usb c's into - said USB c goes into switch and stand upright, still able to manipulate position).

So which you want is more down to what function you want, id say - living room the official, in the move, hori - but be ready especially with the cheaper one for some circa 2004 webcam vibes 🤣

@rjejr I may be wrong, but i believe there's either a rubber washer to help the console grip, or more magnets at the bottom. I've noticed the same and thought it was neat.

Or you know... hold it around the l and r buttons like I do... jees... 😵‍💫

@Divide_and_Wander I'm an ally, oled, literally and s1 owner along with s2 (and had a steam deck in the past too), and i feel the pain... apart from it being "shiny and gorgeous" which i expected after the LCD of the PS portal, I have no favouritism between any of them because they all look the same (or as good as to me, apart from a bit of noticable blur etc).

Those complaining (to me) fall into 2 groups: those that get on the bandwagon because someone says it's naff, and those that have perfect eyesight and can notice it. The two aren't mutually exclusive though, and can be a decent Venn diagram.

I'm neither though, and perfectly happy once again with the tech used. Barely notice a thing when im using my bifocals anyway, and happy with what I got for the price. And as others have mentioned, it's one of nintendos best launch screens ever - add to that with the form factor, it can potentially save you a tonne of money not needing a tv either as it does what it sets out to do and a little better undocked anyway.

I'd imagine us "old farts" never tried it as usually we'd be hit by lightning, lose the item and with our slow reflexes not have time to hit the "fire" button 🤣

Also... when you get it, use it now; i don't think I've really ever carried one from say 8th to first in older entries 🤪

@JokerCK just playing devil's advocate here, but isn't a series s basically between ps4 and ps5 anyway?

I've owned all 3 (was never gonna buy an X), and after playing the s2, I'd also say its a fair view, no matter how bad they are at porting as a company, with the hardware at its disposal.

I'm not ashamed to say I love both of my children equally, but one does generally get more attention 🤣

@Yosti my thoughts exactly, and i had a £10 john lewis voucher for here in blighty, so in the end it was like £12 for me. Really can't complain on that price, and already endured a 150 Mile round trip the weekend in my bag.

@UltimateOtaku91 you'll be fine then mate. I've just got the pro2 on pre order with argos. Had the text at 11.47 and email from dpd saying they are expecting it has just came through, so you'll get at least one email, even if not woth tracking. If you get it tonight, it should be out for delivery tomorrow.

@RupeeClock it won't work until it's scanned at depot (most probably overnight).

From there expect a scan maaaaaybe 9am at the latest (could be later, because reasons).

@jsty3105 thank you. These are the kind of subjects that demand a bit of balance and integrity; something that most people sadly lack online whilst they do the digital equivalent of shouting at clouds (typing into digital clouds? 🤔).

@jsty3105 well development costs are usually above zero... I'm no developer, but it's an educated guess haha!

So I'd say any title has a value, even something that a person doesn't want. Thats the problem with entertainment; it's a form of art and therefore subjective.

Personally I think yes it should have been a pack in, but equally at least youre not being forced to buy it. I see both arguments, and equally I'm on the fence about buying it. I'm happy with Mario kart and if I fancy a change and something else to "play" I'll pick it up with curiosity.

But nothing has a zero value, no matter what people think. As an early ps5 adopter, I loved astros playroom, but if I could have shaved 30 quid off the price of a ps5 then I wouldn't have gotten it and maybe picked it up in a sale.

People seem to think pack ins are free, when they're not. They're a loss leader at worst for the company to shift hardware and a sweetener at best for the consumer to make it look better value.

@Justifier yeah they're on the day delivery in my experience. It most probably won't arrive early, but they do charge a week in advance in general. I've been charged too.

@Anti-Matter I'm not usually excited for directs anyway and I own both. But I do watch them to see what I want to buy. Directs to me are the old me's equivalent of going through a toy catalogue and circling them when i was a kid🤣

Anything 3rd party will generally be bought on ps5 for me... so to multiplatform gamers, a direct is a bare minimum "look forward" to moment, and doesn't need "excitement". The excitement comes when you know you like the look of the game, not waiting for a video on YouTube to be uploaded.

@JohnnyMind no worries... just trying to give you a bit better judgement (although my words are all over the place haha); but if you generally know the beats, you'll be fine - it is a fresh experience. Though when you get to it (and it releases), be ready for a lot of padding, mini games and at points needless filler just to do the next bit of the story.

At points, I just felt being forced to do something I didn't want to do, so ended up completing everything as I went along, even though it meant I completely forgot what the story was at points, like when you had an extra hard thing to do (I'm not even looking at chocobos, I'm shouting at them - lol) and you'd eventually complete it hours later!

Happy with 3 MK sets as around 180GBP.

Still gotta find the money for the "Big" MK one yet... Grrrrr! 🤣

@JohnnyMind it's honestly a tricky one... ff7 is "there", you know? What I've just now coined the rather snazzy FFIRWP37 (Final Fantasy Insert R Word Part 3 7 - I hope it catches on! Won't be out for maybe 2 (if we're lucky) years (and thats possibly only ps5, depending on exclusivity).

After playing parts 1 and 2 (and the OG back when it was released), I'd seriously consider trying to get into the original 1st, and the remake leans a lot into the expanded universe and even I get lost at times. So if you are willing to wait and (possibly) read up on what the heck it all means, go ahead and play the remake 1st. The second game is very filler heavy and I gave up on my hard playthrough (after platting part 1). Buuuuut... ff7 is linear and missing some story beats due to time and production.

So in a way they're both currently "incomplete" works, but 7 will give you a glimpse at the (unironically) original story, and if you can remember it; give you a good briefing for the remakes.

@burndive whilst I'm not technically minded enough to know about your second point (though seems plausible enough to me' being "outdated" now), the 1st point is already well known if you've ever played on a ps portal. I had one at launch, and whilst I sold it eventually, it looked better than the "big tv" in the living room (that wasn't cheap at the end of 2021)!

I'm more than happy with lcd tech at the moment after seeing what that little chunk can do 🤣
