Re: Talking Point: Steel Diver: Sub Wars Proves That Nintendo Can Make Free-To-Play Work

Sinister

@Damo Sry but the ships you get access to when you pay are better than the ones you have access to as a free player. Alone the possible crew slots are enough to make this point.

With players of the same skill level the one that pays will win most of the time. And that is what P2W is all about.

The holy grail of F2P at the moment is dota 2. A game i do not like to play but it does everything right when it comes to F2P.
Another game that does everything right is Path of Exile.

Re: Review: Picross e3 (3DS eShop)

Sinister

Tbh i hate the new mega picross. This will pretty much be the first picross game i will not finish. Only 6 mega picross to go but they suck so much that i do not want to continue any more.

Re: Flipnote Studio 3D Friends Gallery Disabled in Japan

And here we go again. Well we knew about it yesterday already and it makes me sad to see Nintendo do this.
Well everyone has to decide for themself on how they will react to Nintendo's actions. I made my choice and withdraw my unconditional support for Nintendo.
From now on every Ninteno produtc i am interested in buying will be subject to close examination if i really want it or if it is even worth buying.
Prior to yesterday i was blindly buying Nintendo products. This has stopped.

Re: Nintendo Disables Swapnote's SpotPass Service Due to Online Safety Concerns

Sinister

How is this a smart move. If they are afraid of legal consequences they should have never released such a app. Nintendo has no idea how the internet works and proves it day in and day out.
From what i read in the announcement it seems they were surprised that people would share their FC online in forums. Come on how blind of the world do you have to be to be surprised about that.
And if people want to trade such offensive materials they will do it either way. No matter if Swap Note is active or not. Now they will just use email or facebook or whatever else.
And you can access most of that from the 3DS browser. So the should discontinue the browser as well right? Would be such a smart move.

Re: Nintendo Disables Swapnote's SpotPass Service Due to Online Safety Concerns

Well it pretty much sets Nintendo firmly in the Kiddy Company corner and there is no way to get them out of there for a few years.
People that were thinking about going back to Nintendo will not come back now because their old views got proven once more.

You could not recieve any messages unless both parties agreed to add their FCs. At that point it becomes the perents responsibility. Or do you think FB will shut down because some idiots send bad pictures around.
There are way easier ways to get those pics than SwapNote.

Have to agree that Nintendo made a move here that makes it very hard for someone to fight the Kiddy image. Was just a knee jerk reaction from them.
Have to call them idiots as well.

Re: Wii U And 3DS Developers Share Their Thoughts On Region Locking

Sinister

Region Locking serves multiple purposes.
1. Support local retailers
2. Ensure Games that get released to a certain market are localised
3. Different pricing in different regions.

Now i think we as gamers do not really care where we buy our games from. But Nintendo does. If the local retailers don't sell your games because noone buys them then they won't sell your hardware. There is not enough profit in the hardware for retailers hardware.
Some games that got localised would have never got a translation into at least english if it were not for region locking. Unless Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft would pay for it. The profit is again not big enough to warrent a translation if some of the possible consumers already imported the game.
Pricing in countries like India and Brazil would not be as low as it is right now. The people there would suffer much higher prices compared to what they pay now.

For me only point 2 is relevent since i live in a rich country and can afford video games. But i can see the ther side of the coin as well.
As a compromise i would like to see the European, Australian and North American Regions getting combined into one region.

Re: Nintendo Initially Requested a Shutdown of the Whole Smash Bros. EVO Event, Before Backtracking

Sinister

Nintendo really has to wake up. They are harming themself with these duck moves. The youtube thing was just the same. More and more people will just turn their back on them because on these stupid moves. Nintendo really has no idea what is happening at the moment.
Embrace the web culture perhaps even sponsor it. In the end you will geain more that way then trying to destroy it.

Re: Review: Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader (GameCube)

Sinister

One of the best games ever made and my favorite GC game. I even think it still looks really good by todays standards.
This was the reason i picked up a GC at launch. Loved the N64 predecessor but did not like its sequel because of the levels on foot.
If this game ever ends up in the Virtual Console it will be a day 1 buy for me.

Re: EA Outlines Its Reasons for Lack of Wii U Support

Sinister

The only game i will miss from all the upcomming EA titles is Mirror's Edge 2.
I could get that on the PC but i refuse to buy games that require Origin after i had some hands on with it while playing BF3.
I still hope the WiiU will get a good boost over the holidays and after MK8 is released. I gues that could entice them to bring these games (or in my case just ME2) to the WiiU.

Re: EA Will "Jump Back In" If Wii U Becomes A "Viable Platform"

Sinister

Ok ME3 released over 8 months later and NFS nearly 5 moths later. Fifa 13 or should we say Fifa 11 that does not even run smooth and Madden is pretty much the same deal as Fifa.

Why would you expect good sales from any of those titles? While ME3 and NFS are great games that were released way too late. Both sport titles are poop ports and gamers are not that dumb to buy those in masses.

I just got my WiiU and i am considering buying NFS but it is hard to justify paying 60€ retail if i could get the game on PC for 10€.
