What would be the best way to enjoy the DLC? I just bought BotW for the Switch. Buy the DLC and start a new game? Finish the game first, then get the DLC?
It´s a shame there won´t be Tetris on it, because the rights for mobile consoles belong to Ubisoft (?) at the moment.
However, I am sure we can still get a nice classic list together:
Super Mario Land 1
Super Mario Land 2
Wario Land
Links Awakening
Dr. Mario
Final Fantasy Adventure / Mystic Quest
Pokemon Red/Blue
Tennis
Kirby´s Dreamland 2
Donkey Kong
Metroid 2
Mega Man (V would be sweet)
Donkey Kong Land
Donkey Kong Land 2
Mario´s Picross
Kid Icarus
Operation C
@Neon_Blues: Modern Tetris games use something called a 'bag system'. Imagine putting all seven Tetris pieces into a bag. One by one, the game takes one random piece out of the bag until the bag is empty. Then, the game does the same with another bag that is again containing all seven pieces.
The difference, when compared to pure randomness like in the GB or NES Tetris, is that you can not have something fatal like "4 square pieces in a row", because the bag system would not allow it.
This system even allows some kind of prediction. Lets say you played five pieces (say: O, I, S, Z and L). You know, that the next two possible pieces can only be a J or T piece and play accordingly.
I am from Germany. The german public has a lot of angst (tbh about almost everything) regarding the content in media, especially in video games, and its possible harm to the youth. Over the last decade, the angst calmed down and most ratings now are reasonable and old / wrong rating are also getting corrected.
That in mind, the german USK rating system is almost an institution of its own and might not be replaced any time soon. Even if other rating system, like PEGI, seem to be superior.
I never played P&D before and enjoy P&D Z quite a lot. Yes, the story is forgetable and the game seems to follow almost every JRPG trope I know, but it is a lot of fun and reminds of good old Puzzle Quest. Collecting and evolving your dragons is quite fun and some of those designs are very cool and creative.
The Mario spinoff is a different story. I enjoyed the demo a lot, but on the real thing I got stuck in World 3. The game seems to have some kind of design flaw in giving you frequently new leaders. You spread the, already rare, XP thinly over every one. In a result, the game got very hard! Grinding is almost no option and good monsters or usefull items are too rare. You would this far to say, that the Mario game needs a balancing patch!
I see three problems: 1. Shy marketing by Nintendo. 2. Judging by german amazon cyber monday no Wii U bundles were offered, unlike frequent XBONE and PS4 sales. 3. Currently very strong line up for XBONE and PS4, like GTA V and CoD:AW.
@Ralizah Of course The only reason to buy any other Tetris Game instead are working online duels anyway. Tetris Ultimate does better than Axis is this regard.
I would say it is better than Axis. It offers less (modes), but what it offers is better. You can customize more and make the game closer to the original for example. The silly Mii is gone and the game is in general less distracting. A big plus for me is the itemless online multiplayer option. 1on1 mode would have been perfect.... The low pricing is also fair.
Where is the difference between indi and garage developers anyway ?
This statement makes Nintendo look very snoby and arrogant. They let the Wii and DS swarm with shovelware, but I guess its okay when they still cost 30 or 40 bucks... Actually cheap games ? Devils work...
I have a very weak right-eye and cant stand 3D games or 3D cinema. No surprise for me. My strategy is to hope for a significant price drop for the DSi XL
I think R-Type on the Game Boy is one of the best 8-bit ports of Irems classic.
The C64 version is rushed and buggy, the Master System one suffers from heavy sprite flickering, the ZX Spectrum is ... limited, but okay for its system, the Amstrad one is just a bad port of the Spectrum version....
So, leaving two levels and some tracks out is a fair trade for a very playable (and beatable ) version of R-Type.
@timp29: Yes, sure. However, I think the reviews here are often a bit too positive here. Could list some examples now, but that wouls just kick some unneeded discussions... For Other M: the negative reviews impressed me more then the positive. I felt forced to cancel my pre-oder and I am going to rent it. I am a huge Metroid fan and because of that I have very high personal standarts for the series.
I really dislike the artwork here. Fox, Falco, Krystal and so on... they all look inferior compared to SF: Assault and even more compared to SF: Adventure or recently SSB: Brawl.
Some one metioned the weird endings and I went watching them on youtube. Yes, damn yes, this might have been an interesting approach, but these mostly turned out to be very strange.
After massive games like Star Fox 64 and Assault, this title feels like done by the "B-Team" and on a smaller scale, budget and goal.
The best thing a Star Fox fan can do for this generation is to get SF64 for the VC and wait for its remake for the 3DS...
@ MrWout: good Review. I did lend this game out and I got a several impression. It is a potential birthday aswell
Short: lots of content, technical mediocre, presentation is pending from great to lacking , butt the drive and racing engine turned out to be VERY well done and is a lot of fun. I am not for hardcore realism, I am for fun and them game found a good balance between. I drove with the remote btw.
I would give it a 7/10 game and recomend it to anybody who likes racing games on the Wii like Ferrari Challenge.
Well, the reasons why recent Sonic games more or less sucked weren´t his sidekicks. Tails was a good addition in Sonic 2 and Blaze did a great performance in Sonic Rush for example.
I know, some Sonic moments seemed like a furry soap opera, but games like Sonic Unleashed, Sonic and the Black Knight and 06 wernt games at all and got badly design, avoiding year long critism and the fanbase.
I had to import it from the UK to be able to play it. One of the most charming, challenging and unique games I played since the... well 90s. But, GTA: Chinatown Wars is a better title for DS GOTY

Too many anime tropes for me.

I guess they rushed it to market (PS4, XBOX1) in competition of AO Tennis. A game, that is also rushed :-/

Well, it is a great game in general and suits a wide audience. Unlike many other Indie games, it is not in your face artsy, hard or gross.

Re: Reggie Wonders Where Metroid: Other M Sales Went Wrong
I tought it sucked. Samus got destroyed by old man lust and horrible writing. The lame and dumped down gameplay didnt help either.
Yeah, I am sorry, but I am glad it ´s selling poorly.
