Call of Duty: Black Ops on Wii has been shrouded in secrecy for months, with next-to nothing concrete revealed, but now the game's senior producer Anna Donlan has spilled the beans on what gamers can expect on November 9th.
The biggest news is arguably that the game will feature online co-operative play, including the console's debut of the amazingly popular zombies mode. The game will also support the Classic Controller Pro for players who prefer a dual analogue set-up, and Headbanger's PDP headset is supported too.
We've reprinted the juicy bits below, but the full Call of Duty: Black Ops Wii interview still has a few interesting nuggets for you to sift out.
Well, let’s start with the basics. We’re giving the fans the full single-player storyline, with huge maps and an amazing story that I think will really blow them away. We’re also back with 5v5 multiplayer, all maps and all game modes, including the newly introduced Wager Matches and Contracts.
There’s a bunch of other new features that we developed this year as well. We’ve created a new "Allies" system that allows you to invite recent players to be your allies for text messaging, game invites and more without a need for code exchanges. We have more player customization in Create a Class than ever before and we have enhanced party privacy options for players who want to set up their private matches with a little more control over who they allow in.
Don't forget, if you're a UK resident you can take part in our exclusive Call of Duty: Black Ops Wii competition for one more week.

Wow, a Wii game that ISN'T much different then it's HD counterpart?
Bravo Treyarch/Acticision.
Its about time the Wii gets all this but will have to wait and see if all the perks will be there also. Still this might be a hard fight with Goldeneye for online play time!!! Both seem really good but sucks now this game seems so awesome and I'm getting Goldeneye!!
Hmmm, sad that I don't really care about Call of Duty. I'd like to be able to support them since they're actually trying to make the Wii version good.... (unlike many other 3rd party developers).
I'll wait for the reviews for Goldeneye/Black Ops before I decide on which to buy.
I'm getting Goldeneye and probably Black Ops on the 360. I entered the competition for a copy of the Wii Black Ops though.
Read it last night, was so relieved to find all my answer with a positive reply. Hope they manage to keep the frames per second count up, this will be withtout a doubt the greatest Wii FPS ever! =)
@7
untill the conduit 2
me i am happy and unhappy it means that i will now have to balence both black ops and golden eye together its so annoying lol because i want to commit to both
I was a little hopeful for some original stuff instead of being JUST like it's HD counterparts since I had heard Treyarch was taking a different approach to the Wii version. I guess that different approach was just on improving on the Modern Warfare port.
Wow, the throwback to my past lets me down in terms of features (NBA Jam, no online) and the wickid (not in a good way) FPS genre is doing right for the Wii? Ladies and gentlemen... the MINDBLOW!
full coop modes on wii version? you sir have just sold me.
It's great to see some confirmed Wii information for Black Ops at long last but I'm concerned about when UK/European gamers will be able to get their hands on PDP's Headbanger Headsets...I called PDP in the UK yesterday & was told they're not being released until Mid-Jan 2011 including the CoD branded version...
I'm intrigued, muchly. But, the lack of any media so close to release is never a good sign.
@ Machu: Same happened to Modern Warfare last year, but I think I can understand why they are doing it. Black Ops is going to be on 3 seperate platforms and they will no doubt make money with all combined but Goldeneye is only on Wii so has no other home console to recover any losses that they may make on the Wii.
If this game is as good (or dare I say, better) than the XB360 & PS3 versions, I'll probably pick this up.
If not, meh.
Wooow, I'm impressed! I might actually pick this one up.
CoD:Reflex took me by storm. I ask myself if there are any Wii screens, or even gameplay videos, out yet
Wow this and GoldenEye are at war with me right now on which to buy...
Sometimes I wonder why all the Wii FPSs get all the online bells and whistles while other genres on the platform (racing, sports, etc.) don't.
Im sticking with GoldenEye. Its not that I dont like call of duty (lol, yes I do, I HATE it) Its mostly that GoldenEye was designed JUST for the wii, and will probably make a better use of the Tech.
Plus you know you all wanna throw hats at people and kill them! xD
Impressive. I wasnt planning on getting this at all but now there's a chance. I love it when Developers/etc. make a conscious effort to out-do competetion, especially in regards to features largely or entirely absent on a system.
i sent this in I CANT WAIT!
Kudos to Activision and Treyarch for putting in so much effort to brimg us poor nintendo fans a better fps experience. Getting this and Goldeneye I just won't eat for a week lol mebbe I'll just trade some old games in for credit.
Zombies? 5 vs. 5 multiplayer? Online co-op? It's all the things that the Wii version of WaW should have been, but isn't. Excellent! I am gonna get this for sure!
My brother and I liked the Nazi Zombies mode in the 360 version of World at War, and my brother wanted to pick it up for the Wii (despite the lack of that mode), maybe now he'll consider this one instead...
Finally the Wii is getting the hardcore respect it deserves (from other than capcom).
@peterifico I feel ya bro, I'm in the same boat
Sounds awesome for the Wii, but I do have a 360......
Wow, I'm legitimately impressed. Now I won't buy both Goldeneye and this, but its good to see Activsion actually try and make an effort on the Wii and not give us hand-me-downs version.
Anyone noticed that Activision's port gets better usually get better along the years? I guess they're trying to see what they can do with the Wii and shape it up to it's HD brothers as much as possible.
@ 27
It does sound awesome,but the FPS scene is getting a little old( at least for me). Call of Duty games especially
@27
At that point it depends on your preference on FPS controls. I prefer pointer-controls.
Well, it's nice to see that the Wii is getting the same game as the HD consoles instead of a completely different game, but I still won't be able to persuade my parents to get me this. Unfortunately I'm probably going to be playing COD all day today because I'm visiting my cousin who is a COD nerd (and he's younger than me - so unfair!).
This actually got me really interested in this game.
CLASSIC CONTROLLER PRO! AND CO-OP!!!! there is absolutely no way i'm not getting this game first day it comes out!
between this, Goldeneye, and Conduit 2, are even Wii owners going to start flame wars about the best fps now?
as for me, i don't care, i'm just excited we're getting three good ones. between those 3, Red Steel 2, and Metroid Prime Trilogy, all my first persons shooting cravings will be fully satisfied. forget Halo Reach, my Wii is doing me just fine, thank you.
@LuWiiGi We non-17s will prevail. Hopefully
@danschemen Same!
My only question now is, will this run of of Activision's/Treyarch's servers, or on Nintendo's servers? I'm hoping for the former, because then we can play with our HD console friends.
@wes008
im not sure ps3 people can play with 360 people and thus neither can we
Well well well. Looks like I picked the right time to jump into Wii-boat.
What's that? Activision knows how to do online on the Wii? I knew EA didn't try hard enough with NBA Jam! Take that Trey! Of course I won't get this game or goldeneye because the new goldeneye will suckz compared to the original and everyone deep down knows it, and I dont care for COD. Besides these two games are probably so similar its LOLable.
screw goldeneye. im getting black ops all the way
Thank God Treyarch cares for the Wii audience.
YAY!!! now this is going to be awesome better then the 360 and PS3 version of Black Ops
Yeah Wiiversion for me! Aiming > HD-Ready.
Is the zombie stuff DLC, like of PS3 and 360 or is it on the disc?
