I agree completely with @dizzy_boy
A licensed Mario (or Zelda, DK, etc) table by on Zen Pinball would expand the franchise universes without taking away sales from Nintendo consoles!!
I was so exited by MK:DD the first day I got it, I pulled into the driveway so tightly that I scraped by car down the fence... but I didn't let that get me down as I had to play MK:DD NOW (Still don't regret it... as MK:DD, Windwaker & SSB:M all kept me a Happy Nintendo gamer for years.
I love my (two) GameCubes... Its what got me back into Nintendo after the PC started to dominate my gaming time!! I wish Nintendo would release a Wavebird II for the Wii U (Shaped like the wave bird but all the features of the Wii U Controller Pro, and some extra weight/rumble please)
Nintendo fanboy for life, the day they go third party is the day I turn into a full time retro Nintendo gamer!! I do enjoy PC/Steam for the good third party games, but noting beats a Nintendo game on Nintendo Hardware
I've flirted with the XBox (Org) and 360, for some strange reason I usually hate cookie cutter shooters.. but really enjoy playing "couch co-op" shooters like Gears of War with my mate?!?.
Why no option for Wii U and a Steam Box (well PC that can run Steam games)? Nintendo is my console of choice... but a Steam PC is required by me to experience other gaming titles at a price I can afford .
I have a simple equation for me the GamePad = More game time!! I live in a house with only one main TV and lounge area… So when my wife wants to use the TV to watch her TV Shows/Movies I can still game, simple but infinitely better than no gaming time.
@oldaq & @Mahe I just hold down the power button to turn off the Gamepad. What bugs me the most is you cant get to Wii mode from the normal Wii U menu with out turning on the TV to use the remote to select preferred Wii mode. (Wii Mode would have been awesome if it supported the Gamepad )
The update installed last night no issues, I have only ever had 1 freeze on my Release Day Wii U, and that was Oct 2013 on Sonic Racing Transformed. I have never had any other stability issues with my Wii U. @pukka-pie Totally agree with you, I would love to play my vast Wii Games collection Via the GamePad while my Wife hogs the TV
I’m getting Mario Kart 8 on release... But I’m bummed about not been able to play MK Wii anymore... Nintendo have already forced me to us my old Wii so I can enter the Bi Monthly MK Wii tournaments, now I won’t even be able to play on line… I can regularly find more players raceing on MK Wii that I ever can on Wii U’s Sonic Racing!?!
I’ve enjoyed the game so much I have it on both Wii U and Steam… the only issue I have with the Wii U version is no DLC and no racers seem to be online to race with.
I was going to wait for Dr Luigi to be discounted... but the free Dr Mario (NES) is enough to make me get Dr Luigi now. Thanks Nintendo for making me spend my eShop Cards
I love Nintendo and will always buy and support Nintendo consoles, even to the point of buying watered down 3rd party ports on Nintendo consoles…
When I need/want to try other publishers games I just use PC/Steam, it really isn’t that hard to be a Nintendo Fanboy and experience the goodness that occasionally pops up on the other side of the fence.
@Nintenjoe64 +20 (I still have my collection of GCN games and love it) I belive time will be kinder to the Wii U, than the current doom sayers will have you belive.
Sometimes been a Kiwi gamer sucks... Specials for Japan, specials for North America and even specials for Europe don’t always make there way down here (Luckily I have already got this)
I'd like to see them go back totally private, get rid of greedy investors who just want a pay-out.. Invest in yourself Nintendo and keep making great games
Wii U GamePad rocks... but if Nintendo did decide to make it an optional extra… then at least make it mandatory to have “Off TV” play option in every Wii U title.. I cant live without off TV mode anymore as it increases my game play time by a factor of 5!! (You trying sharing one large HD TV with your Wife and kids!?!)
Nintendo teaser touch mini games (and videos) are ok… but leave the Real Nintendo games for the real Nintendo consoles!!
That said… being able to browse eShop and purchase games via my smartphone and then have them waiting for me when I get home would be awesome!
Instead of a race to the lowest price for the Wii U, how about a different approach for the Wii U. The Wii U Gamers Edition. A redesigned Wii U, that includes; 1. Full GCN capability (4 x Controller, 2 x Memory Card, + dedicated GCN silicon), an upgraded Slot loading drive to accept the smaller GCN disks, refine the menu front end to be able to directly launch GCN or Wii Disk games without having to load backwards compatibility mode first, and make all Wii/GCN games able to be played off screen via the Wii U Controller (emulate a GCN controller / Wii Classic Controller Pro). 2. Redesign the Wii U Controller Pro to have a Headphone/Mic socket and basic motion sensing (3DS styles), and make this controller able to control all the Wii U menus including eShop. (A wireless Headset wouldn’t hurt either Nintendo) 3. Add a “Nintendo” removable/upgradeable HDD to store all your games on. This will be at least $100USD more expensive and NOT get the casual crowed, but man how many Nintendo fanboys (and Girls) would get on board for a comprehensive Nintendo experience! My 2 cents
I got this for my birthday and I’m pleasantly surprised that I’m having so much fun with this game… My daughter likes playing with the real girl “Danica Patrick”.
@skttr
AFAIK Wii Sports + Wii Sports Resort was only released as a bundle with new Wii's in AU/NZ.... It required new saves which was a bummer
Being the total Nintendo fanboy I am, I brought a new console just to get this
It would have been great to have these a few years ago when the Wii as actually accepted in NZ as a gaming system…. I’ve been paying “Nintendo Tax” for years and already have all of those games purchased at or near release for $80+ NZD. I love my country but my choice of gaming systems (Nintendo) makes me pay through the nose for games… and I do try to buy AU/NZ games because I want my Star Points, buy I give up for the more off beat/rear titles which are always over $100 NZD and I can get online from UK for ~$40 NZD inc shipping!!
The "Wii TV Edition" without a disk drive would be the perfect option for China Market and other emerging and/or piracy heavy markets. Nintendo just need to make the "Wii TV Edition" compatible with a new Universal Nintendo ID/eStore. A new universal Nintendo ID/eStore would be of massive benefit to the Wii U/3DS in primary markets and perfect for tackling China/emerging/piracy markets Nintendo what are you waiting for?!?
I will buy these if they come too little old NZ… But what would make my day is if these have the “new “ Remote Jackets with the reset hole and the cut out for the official Battery Charger… As the official Nintendo Batteries only come with Black Jackets.
Two things... 1. Patent Trolls suck 2. Technology evolves in many different ways. Nintendo have been testing/investigating 3D tech for years (Virtual Boy/GCN/GBA to name a few), and have experimented with many different ways to implement 3D Tech.
I still paly Mario Kart Wii... but unfortunately Nintendo "nerfed" MKWii on the Wii U.... You have to use an old Wii to access Mario Kart Wii Tournament mode
I cant wait for Mario Kart 8 (Hopefuly with heaps of retro tracks and extra non Nintendo Racers)

To be honest... Nintendo + PC, since the SNES days but the PC wasn't very good at gaming back then

I've had the Nintendo & PC gaming Combo since the N64 Days... long may it continue.
