Re: Feature: Will These 10 Classic JRPGs Ever Come To Switch?

ReaperMelia

I voted for Skies of Arcadia and Paper Mario TTYD purely because I never had a Dreamcast or GameCube back in the day and those two are very expensive now, I have most of the others on this list I'm interested in... but I somehow forgot Mother 3 was an option, so I'd swap Paper Mario out for Mother 3.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 16th)

Mainly more Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga on PS5. I finished the Original Trilogy and I'm currently almost halfway through the prequels. I'm still having a lot of fun with it! I think my plan is to beat it, do a decent amount of optional content, and then save 100% for once all the DLC characters are out since there won't be any DLC levels to use as an excuse to try them out.

On Switch, I decided to boot up Final Fantasy XII again. No clue if I'll get more of that in this weekend, depends on how much time I wind up spending with Lego Star Wars. I also got Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge on the 3DS eShop, and I'm just about done with that. Axiom Verge and .hack//Infection are still potential picks for this weekend as well. I definitely want to get back to .hack soon with that new trademark suggesting a collection of some kind...

Re: Nintendo Updates Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Game Page With Stunning New Artwork

ReaperMelia

I love this art! I hope we get to see more familiar areas than just the ones in this picture, I'd love to see how everything's changed since the prior games. It's nice seeing the other confirmed party members added to the picture as well.

@PeterAndCompany 1 and 2 both had party members not revealed in trailers/marketing material, so I'm sure we'll have at least one more here. A Nopon seems like a very likely choice since it's a staple of the numbered games to have one as a party member.

Re: Square Enix Officially Announces Kingdom Hearts IV

ReaperMelia

@MajorasLapdog You're good! You weren't coming off as confrontational, I was just worried I'd come off as defensive when I agree that it's not really a good move. Yeah, it usually winds up being controversial, so I'm not sure how Kingdom Hearts gets a pass on it honestly.

Re: Square Enix Officially Announces Kingdom Hearts IV

ReaperMelia

@KoopaTheGamer It does look cool, so it has that going for it. I also kind of get the impression Flowmotion might be improved compared to III here, which I'd like since I didn't like how heavily it was nerfed in III. I know it was broken in 3D, but I kinda liked that about it. I don't need to be able to bound across the map in one jump, but it'd be nice to see it improved at least a little again.

@MajorasLapdog That's definitely a fair thing to think! I'm not disagreeing that it's misleading, it's kind of just something they like to do with these games for whatever reason. Maybe they were trying to avoid the inevitable jokes about having to wait another 6 years if there was no gameplay or something like that.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 9th)

ReaperMelia

My Switch is getting (mostly) sidelined so I can play Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga on my PS5. I've been enjoying it so far! Almost done with Empire Strikes Back, I'm going through the movies in release order.

I'll probably boot up Chocobo GP a bit to work on unlocking Cloud, but I don't see myself spending too much time on the Switch this weekend. Like the last couple of weeks, Axiom Verge and .hack//Infection are also games I should get back to soon if I need a break from smashing plastic bricks.

Re: New Screenshots Of Fire Emblem: Three Hopes Surface Online

ReaperMelia

I'm honestly kind of disappointed to see that the monastery socializing elements seem to be back. I know most people love them, but I'm not into the school social elements that are big with JRPGs these days. It was one of my least favorite parts of Three Houses personally. I'm still getting this, but I hope it'll be easy to just ignore for anyone who doesn't enjoy that sort of thing.

@Don If it's like the previous FE Warriors, it will have an optional "permadeath" mode where you can still pay to revive the characters afterwards, but you'll also be able to turn it off completely. This is a spin-off that plays differently from the main series games, so mechanics like that will be treated differently.

Re: Soapbox: The Video Game Camaraderie On r/place Is A Lesson About Community

ReaperMelia

@Ardisan I didn't see the Cave Story art until after it had already been repaired, but I'm glad you were all able to get it fixed! It's a fantastic game and I thought it was cool to see it get its own spot on the canvas. Streamers erasing art from smaller communities just to get their ugly logos up was a really obnoxious issue that seemed to keep happening.

Re: Soapbox: The Video Game Camaraderie On r/place Is A Lesson About Community

ReaperMelia

@nessisonett I'd say it's also a good sign of the strength of the community that no matter how hard those losers tried to erase the trans flag, it still stood strong in the end. I ultimately see it as a victory that they failed to do any real damage to it.

As for the game parts specifically, I liked seeing all the cool game art! I was happy to see Xenoblade get some pretty good representation from the start, and even something as niche as The World Ends With You managed to get a small spot on the canvas. There was also a lot of... questionable art, but all in all, it was a fun experiment to take part in. I'm kind of sad that nightmarish monster in the middle of the bottom half got erased at some point, it would've fit great as a Kirby final boss design.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 2nd)

ReaperMelia

I think I'm coming up on the end of Kirby and the Forgotten Land's main story (Started world 6 earlier today). I've been having an absolute blast with it! I've gotten all the Waddle Dees and done all the treasure runs up to this point, so I'll be ready to jump straight into whatever postgame content the game has right after finishing the main story.

On other systems, I didn't get in any more time with Axiom Verge or .hack//Infection last week, so it'd be nice to get some of those in. I might slow down a bit on the Switch after I finish Kirby to give some other systems a bit more attention. I tend to just spend a lot of time with my Switch despite having a lot of games on other systems I need to get around to playing...

Re: Video: 12 Exciting New Games Coming To Nintendo Switch In April 2022

ReaperMelia

I'm getting Lego Star Wars on PS5. I can't wait to play it next week! As for the Switch itself, I have the physical release of Chrono Cross pre-ordered and I'll probably pick up Switch Sports at launch as well. Tormented Souls and The Force Unleashed are also games I want to get at some point. Tormented Souls already has a physical release announced and TFU will definitely get one from Limited Run Games at the very least, so I'll be holding out for those specifically.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 26th)

ReaperMelia

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is my main game for this weekend! I finished Skyward Sword HD last night, so it was perfect timing to free up my Switch schedule. I'll be getting in some Chocobo GP as well; my physical copy arrived so I've been able to play as Terra finally, and I'm still having fun with the game!

I started up Axiom Verge on Wii U finally and I've enjoyed what little I've played of it so far. I'd like to get a bit more of that in as well. I should get back to .hack//Infection soon, too... My copy of the G.U. collection arrived, but I told myself I'd finish the first set of games before jumping into that.

Re: Nintendo Download: 17th March (North America)

ReaperMelia

I got the MK8 DLC. Rune Factory 5 is one I might pick up at some point, though I still need to play RF4 and I'm not sure if the performance has been fixed in 5 at this point. I'm not one to generally care about performance as long as it's not a slideshow, but the footage I saw from the Japanese launch looked pretty rough. Hopefully they've fixed it by now though.

Re: Netflix's Resident Evil Series Gets A Release Date

ReaperMelia

I'll check it out because I'm an RE fan, but my expectations are as low as it gets. I've just never cared for Netflix's exclusives outside of a few exceptions, and the plot summary for this one sounds, well... not like RE at all. I am one of the people who enjoyed Welcome to Raccoon City as its own thing, but I think an RE-themed teen drama just sounds really boring (of course, I'm not a teen anymore and I was never into teen dramas, so that's a big part of it).

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 12th)

ReaperMelia

My Kirby marathon has brought me to Kirby Star Allies, where my progress is now dependent on whenever my co-op partner has a chance to join in, so things might slow down there a bit. Skyward Sword HD is back to my main Switch game, and I forgot how close I was to the end! I'll also be playing a bit of Chocobo GP for daily missions and things like that. I hope my progress from the Lite version will carry over to the imported physical release...

Outside of Switch... honestly not sure. Might start something up on the Wii U. I'm considering playing through the original Advance War now that the remake's been delayed. The GBA Fire Emblems are also pretty solid options. I should also really get back to .hack//Infection now that the GU remasters are out on Switch. Hopefully Namco actually sends my copy out soon...

Re: Reminder: You Can Now Download A Free Lite Version Of Chocobo GP On Switch

ReaperMelia

I tried this out since Play Asia still hasn't shipped my physical copy. It's definitely not on the same level as Mario Kart 8 or Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled, but I've had fun with it. The battle pass monetization is definitely irritating, but I'm honestly pretty happy with the base roster since I'm not as into the newer entries in the series (The ones I imagine will be represented through the battle pass, VIII is where the series went downhill in my opinion and it's spotty past that point), so it's not a deal-breaker for me personally. Terra's part of the base game, so that works for me. I do hope they plan on adding new tracks over time as opposed to just having the battle passes be all it gets in terms of new content. The base tracks are fine, but I could see them getting old over time.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 5th)

ReaperMelia

My Kirby marathon continues! I'm on to Kirby's Return to Dream Land at the moment, and I'm coming close to the end of my normal mode run. It's been a lot of fun! The challenges are pretty tricky, but I've got gold on most of them right now.

If I play anything else, Skyward Sword HD and Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster are my main choices. This could definitely just be a Kirby-only weekend, though. I still have Star Allies to go after I finish RTDL (I played the 3DS entries back when they came out, so I'm good on those for now)...

Re: Video: 9 Exciting New Games Coming To Nintendo Switch In March 2022

ReaperMelia

I have Chocobo GP pre-ordered through Play-Asia and .hack//GU Last Recode Begins Edition pre-ordered through the Namco store, I'm hoping those both ship soon. Won't be ready for GU right away since I need to play through IMOQ first, but it'll be nice to have that secured.

I'm also planning to get the Mario Kart DLC and Kirby once those come out. I definitely want to get Triangle Strategy, but this month is too packed for me to get everything I wanted at once so I'll have to wait a bit on it. Rune Factory 5 is one I'll consider, but I want to see improvements compared to the original Japanese release. I'm not as sensitive to performance issues as most people are, but it still looked pretty bad to me going off of launch footage.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 26th)

ReaperMelia

In my whole Kirby marathon, I'm currently on to Squeak Squad. I'm really enjoying it so far! I really wish I'd played some of these sooner. Once I finish that, I might start up something else on the Wii U in its place; maybe one of the Fire Emblems or NES Remix. I don't have Return to Dream Land quite yet, so I won't be able to jump straight into it anyway.

On my PC, while my Steam Deck won't be here until some time in Q2, I caved and fired up the Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster. The original is one of my all-time favorite games and I've been delighted with this new version so far! I'll definitely play more of that in the next few days.

Oh, what's that? Switch? Oh, I should probably get back to Skyward Sword HD as well...

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 19th)

ReaperMelia

I finished Pokemon Legends Arceus' postgame (or at least as much of it as I'm willing to do, I caught every Pokemon and did every request), so I'm hoping to get back to Skyward Sword HD on the Switch this weekend. I'm also going to try out the Switch Sports beta!

I'm on to Kirby and the Amazing Mirror in terms of Kirby games, so I'll be playing that. I'm debating firing up one of the Fire Emblem Virtual Console games on Wii U as well; I have all three but haven't played any of them yet, so they would be fun to give a go! .hack//Infection's another game I should return to soon.

Re: 'Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour' Returns - Games, Announcements And More

ReaperMelia

I'm just hoping for more FighterZ characters or a sequel honestly. I don't really feel a need for Xenoverse 3, XV2 already just felt like Xenoverse 1.5 and I don't want to just wind up feeling like I'm playing the same game a third time. I'm fine with them just doing more expansions for it personally. Some news on Breakers would be nice, too.

My dream new game announcement would be Fusions 2, but there's no way that's happening.

Re: Random: Here's Steam Deck Running The GameCube And Wii Emulator Dolphin

ReaperMelia

I've got one reserved and it's estimated to come in Q2, although I'm hoping enough people will cancel to bump me up since I got my order in within 10 minutes of reservations going live. I'm personally not interested in using emulators, though, so I'm not going to use it for that. It'll just make my Steam backlog way easier to work through.
