Re: Digital Foundry Begins GTA Trilogy Analysis, Describes GTA 3 On Switch As A 'Big Mess'

RavenWolfe81

@Astral-Grain These games do not exist in a bubble. Just because the originals are flawed masterpieces doesn't excuse a remaster of them from being a separate disappointing product. We've had remasters of everything from Crash to Destroy All Humans to the Mass Effect Trilogy and all of them treated the original material with respect and improved on them. They didn't make the games objectively worse.

Your defense reads as excusing Rockstar from having to polish their remasters because the other versions got high scores. That makes no sense, it's a separate product.

I've come around to see its value to some people, some people just plain love N64 games. I hate them so I projected a bit of that onto the announcement. For me, in the end, there's nothing there for me and that's fine. I mean don't even subscribe to "good" services like Gamepass, I don't play online or care about getting a bunch games dropped on me. But if you care about N64, more power to you, you don't have to listen to the haters.

Re: 'WATA Certified' Copy Of Sonic The Hedgehog Sells For Record Price

RavenWolfe81

Of course they vet their bidders. That's how scam auctions work. Rich guys building up hype and value of an item in hopes some ignorant person enters the fray with years of savings. They plan this out but they're pretty dumb as they don't realize gamers will complain about budget pricing even

If this is legit, then they aren't scammers, they're idiots. Guy paid over 400k for the equivalent of a 1990s Toyota Camry that someone bought and parked because "it'll be valuable someday!" The game is not rare and no one knows how many of a variation/misprint actually exist.

Re: Video: Here's Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Sonic Colors Ultimate On Nintendo Switch

RavenWolfe81

I realize part of this is likely due to lower priority porting or just lazy porting but the game has had some improvements, it's not just an emulated Wii game. So this gives me mixed feelings about Nintendo's hardware strategy. I feel like Nintendo needs to offer a little more power with the next console so we have less issues with games towards the end of its lifespan, especially if developers are going to put in less effort because other consoles are easier to get games up and running on.

Re: The Fan-Made 2D Metroid Prime Game Has Been Forced To Shut Down

RavenWolfe81

I feel like Nintendo needs to facilitate a way for fans to make their own Metroid (and DKC, Yoshi, Kirby) games like they did with Super Worlds in Mario Maker 2. They're on to something with the maker games, sure they're limited but great content comes out of them and it gives fans a legal avenue to make a tribute and it sucks that they abandoned Mario Maker. Perhaps a Nintendo Maker is needed.

Re: Possible Retro Game Grading Inconsistencies Come To Light Following Fraud Allegations

RavenWolfe81

Notice how none of these games selling big money were ever rare and the value is completely determined by how "mint" their condition is or whether it's a misprint. The misprint cases make sense but trying to sell a sealed, mint copy of a game that millions were produced of sounds sus and that's what happens most of the time. You have no way of knowing how many complete in box, sealed and/or mint items are out there.

You wouldn't get much for a mint baseball card just because the card is old or of a popular player. It has to be a rare card.

Re: Video: 9 Exciting New Games Coming to Nintendo Switch In August

RavenWolfe81

Pretty interesting month for Indies, which I'd rather play than over-hyped, overpriced games. Greak and Dreamscaper look good, Baldo has potential and I think nmh3 will have a good dose of imagination and creativity, especially for a $60 major release. Gotta finish Eldest Souls and Ender Lilies then I will pick up some of these.

Re: Valve Responds To 'Switch Vs Steam Deck' Comparisons, Insists It's "Going After" A Different Audience

RavenWolfe81

I get what he's saying. They're betting on adults with a ton of disposable income who are already spending $100s of dollars a year on Steam, making this a success. That's why it has bulkier grips, more buttons and track pads. A handheld like Deck, you can play Total War on and not suffer hand cramps if you're like me and have big hands.

The Switch is designed with more people in mind. My kid has been using one since age 3 and I guarantee at age 7 now, Deck will be too much in size and weight. Me, I had to buy a OIVO grip to use a Switch comfortably and honestly much prefer a Wii U gamepad. But that's Nintendo's market, families. Steam is not in the market for families. I mean it has hentai/sex games on it. People who aren't PC gamers don't understand Steam, lol.

Re: Nintendo Denies Claims It'll Make Increased Profits With Switch OLED, "No Plans" For Other Model

RavenWolfe81

I do not trust Nintendo when it comes to anything like this that could impact public opinion or stock value. 5 or 6 years ago, I did sure but they've damaged their reputation imo, since the joy con issues and other things. They'll do what they have to, I know but without Iwata and Reggie being candid and humble, they come off as corporate as any big game company now.

And if they don't release a oled Switch Lite within 6 months of the standard model, I'll be shocked.
