@Astral-Grain These games do not exist in a bubble. Just because the originals are flawed masterpieces doesn't excuse a remaster of them from being a separate disappointing product. We've had remasters of everything from Crash to Destroy All Humans to the Mass Effect Trilogy and all of them treated the original material with respect and improved on them. They didn't make the games objectively worse.
Your defense reads as excusing Rockstar from having to polish their remasters because the other versions got high scores. That makes no sense, it's a separate product.
If they're talking about it, then the new console will be here in a couple years. I'd say it all depends on the chip shortage. If things get better next year then maybe 2023, if not then the year after that I guess.
When you're my age, you end up paying for the whole price of the family plan because you're supporting your spouse and kids, who for some don't have incomes, so they can't contribute. $80 is too much money, we should have tiers and options that fit our needs! Instead we have two one size fits all options.
I've come around to see its value to some people, some people just plain love N64 games. I hate them so I projected a bit of that onto the announcement. For me, in the end, there's nothing there for me and that's fine. I mean don't even subscribe to "good" services like Gamepass, I don't play online or care about getting a bunch games dropped on me. But if you care about N64, more power to you, you don't have to listen to the haters.
@Bentendo1609 They really just need to say dlc from future games will be added and that would work for me. I don't have to know the specifics and we already know games like Banjo are coming, just not when. But yea, I'm glad you get what I'm saying.
This game is great... if you like old school horror games. If you miss fixed camera titles like og RE, Silent Hill and such definitely get this. I don't know how well it'll run on Switch but like Luigi's Mansion 3, it should be decent.
@Bentendo1609 You're probably right. So if they can add more dlc like expansions to Splatoon 3, Metroid or BotW 2, I'd get this. All they need to do is announce a road map of upcoming drops and tell us if they're adding more dlc and I'd feel alot better about the $50 but I don't care about N64 games that I put 100s of hours into as a teen, anymore.
If they add more dlc for games in the future I might get it as long as they stay on the service indefinitely and if the service actually saves you money on them. I could not care less about old games, except for a few GameCube titles.
Would be nice if it was Aloy. You never know know, she's in Genshin afterall and PlayStation would have loved to get her into Smash around the time they were hoping to be able to ship Forbidden West.
Of course they vet their bidders. That's how scam auctions work. Rich guys building up hype and value of an item in hopes some ignorant person enters the fray with years of savings. They plan this out but they're pretty dumb as they don't realize gamers will complain about budget pricing even
If this is legit, then they aren't scammers, they're idiots. Guy paid over 400k for the equivalent of a 1990s Toyota Camry that someone bought and parked because "it'll be valuable someday!" The game is not rare and no one knows how many of a variation/misprint actually exist.
20 years, man hard to believe. It deserved much better sales and recognition, its library is still top tier today. It's really aged well compared to N64 or Wii.
So they went with someone new or are still in planning stages of the game. Yikes, everything we hear makes me think that this game is aimed at the next console's launch. They're running out of time with Switch.
I realize part of this is likely due to lower priority porting or just lazy porting but the game has had some improvements, it's not just an emulated Wii game. So this gives me mixed feelings about Nintendo's hardware strategy. I feel like Nintendo needs to offer a little more power with the next console so we have less issues with games towards the end of its lifespan, especially if developers are going to put in less effort because other consoles are easier to get games up and running on.
I want an actual retro handheld that would have Nintendo build quality that is actually pocket sized with a proper sized gba screen. They could still do a sub service if they want or a store. Treat it like it's own thing. I just don't want to play those older games on bigger screens. It's bad enough on Wii U.
I feel like Nintendo needs to facilitate a way for fans to make their own Metroid (and DKC, Yoshi, Kirby) games like they did with Super Worlds in Mario Maker 2. They're on to something with the maker games, sure they're limited but great content comes out of them and it gives fans a legal avenue to make a tribute and it sucks that they abandoned Mario Maker. Perhaps a Nintendo Maker is needed.
Yea like in 3 Nintendo consoles from now. The next console will probably be on par with Steam Deck, except maybe have 4k upscaling when docked but that won't give us this kind of fidelity.
Notice how none of these games selling big money were ever rare and the value is completely determined by how "mint" their condition is or whether it's a misprint. The misprint cases make sense but trying to sell a sealed, mint copy of a game that millions were produced of sounds sus and that's what happens most of the time. You have no way of knowing how many complete in box, sealed and/or mint items are out there.
You wouldn't get much for a mint baseball card just because the card is old or of a popular player. It has to be a rare card.
Not much, there's probably dozens and dozens of near mint cibs and a lot more sealed than people know of out there, they did produce a lot of carts. I'd only pay big money for games with very limited runs ( no pun intended).
Bayonetta 3 will not be a Switch title, unless it's cross gen with the next console. They're clearly waiting on hardware that's significantly more powerful than Wii U, in order to give it a true sequel improvement in visuals, imo.
I wonder if they regret title dropping Prime 4 and Bayo 3 so early? Since there's no Switch Pro I'm thinking these two games will be cross-gen with the next console/hybrid. Great lineup though, looking forward to many of these but I wouldn't call 2022 a window, it's more a glass house.
Jk, they won't release it until they have hardware that can provide an experience much better than 8D. But you know what? An actual large expansion pack for 8D would be more successful then any game they have coming this year except for maybe (hopefully) Metroid Dread.
The true hero. All he ever wanted was for his son to have a mother. Not like Peach actually wants to marry Mario or anything. She'd just run off with Toadette.
Someone should hire this person to lead a remake of Rudolph's stop motion Christmas special. This would rock for that but as a game it looks a bit saccharine. Like it's made of candy or something. It's beautiful though, just not very gamey. Maybe it needs a filter.
Pretty interesting month for Indies, which I'd rather play than over-hyped, overpriced games. Greak and Dreamscaper look good, Baldo has potential and I think nmh3 will have a good dose of imagination and creativity, especially for a $60 major release. Gotta finish Eldest Souls and Ender Lilies then I will pick up some of these.
Best be buying w/e virtual console games you need before the end of next year, I guess. It's not like we have a choice. Nintendo are either incapable or unwilling to meet the demand for retro right now.
I get what he's saying. They're betting on adults with a ton of disposable income who are already spending $100s of dollars a year on Steam, making this a success. That's why it has bulkier grips, more buttons and track pads. A handheld like Deck, you can play Total War on and not suffer hand cramps if you're like me and have big hands.
The Switch is designed with more people in mind. My kid has been using one since age 3 and I guarantee at age 7 now, Deck will be too much in size and weight. Me, I had to buy a OIVO grip to use a Switch comfortably and honestly much prefer a Wii U gamepad. But that's Nintendo's market, families. Steam is not in the market for families. I mean it has hentai/sex games on it. People who aren't PC gamers don't understand Steam, lol.
I voted Obviously but why do publishers really think people don't want to play old games past the PS1 era? Nintendo have proven several times that you can spit shine an old game and make millions and spend little on it.
Well deserved. I still play it regularly on Switch and pc but I quit ACNH two weeks after release. Sometimes I feel I should play it because I have missed a lot but eh, I can't find the fun anymore.
I like this, poor guy feeling bad about announcing a game a year early while Nintendo announces games before they even have an alpha they're committed to releasing.
Great game. I absolutely love the presentation of this game, from art style to battle animations. Pretty much what many folks wanted from SwSh but in a tropics setting.
@Mgalens I agree, I know they have to conduct business in certain ways and I don't fault them for that, I just feel like they used to listen to the community and hold us in higher regard. They'd admit mistakes and you could trust them to fix things.
I do not trust Nintendo when it comes to anything like this that could impact public opinion or stock value. 5 or 6 years ago, I did sure but they've damaged their reputation imo, since the joy con issues and other things. They'll do what they have to, I know but without Iwata and Reggie being candid and humble, they come off as corporate as any big game company now.
And if they don't release a oled Switch Lite within 6 months of the standard model, I'll be shocked.
Definitely looking forward to this myself but I wonder what the new fans of the series will think. I just hope sells aren't a flash in the pan kind of thing, as I'd love to see HD versions of the 3DS N64 remakes.
I'd love to get one in theory but I have a feeling they'll do a Lite oled sometime next year. Imo a Lite is better for handheld play and carrying around since it's lighter and smaller. And it'll be cheaper.
It looks like it's going to have better visuals and performance than the recent Ice Age Scratte game, which I guess is the last licensed game that was pretty decent that I noticed. Hope it's good.
I thought the game played fine originally, so I'd still probably play with buttons and rarely ever adjust the camera if I didn't like motion controls but I don't have a problem with them. So big improvement, to me.
