Re: Nintendo Download: Cubes, Ninjas, Tennis, Strategy Games and Cameras (US)

Rapadash6

@Comment 32, Ren

I think people have just given up on seeing the Nintendo branded games they want anytime soon. Personally I've come to the conclusion that NOA just won't release anymore first party VC titles for the forseeable future. With every European update filling in the barrel with more Sega and Tecmo branded games, I'm convinced NOA just can't be bothered to release their own games anymore. Too bad because the Virtual Console USE to be more balanced than that but now... well, you all know how things are, at least in North America.

On the bright side actual new Wii retail games are getting better at least, and I'm actually finding it hard to find time to play all the games I want to.

Re: Rare: Fate Was Against Us With Goldeneye

Rapadash6

I'm just surprised there was someone out there foolish enough to bother asking about this. I had thought this case was closed a long time ago. Goldeneye will be fondly remembered, but never celebrated again, unfortunately.

Re: Nintendo Download: Super Star Wars, Golden Axe, Magnetis, PooYoos and MySims Camera (EU)

Rapadash6

Wow, now you guys are getting two games a week AND the Star Wars games. Now there's no question about it, of the big 3 territories, North America is OFFICIALLY the worst for VC now. Lets see here, Smash Bros, Pilotwings, Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Rygar and Solomon's Key, not to mention about 10 C64 games we have yet to see... and what do we have? Tecmo Bowl... I give up on this ****.

Re: Help People Get Their Wii Consoles Online, Get Free Games

Rapadash6

Even if NOA offered us this promotion, it would be pointless for a lot of people because they've already bought all the games they wanted.

Edit:Also, sinse Nintendo's being so generous with it's first party titles, why not offer up Mario All-Stars soon. I would assume if you're ready to start giving away games that this would be a viable release now.

Re: Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth Coming This Month

Rapadash6

@NintendoBrad

Unless Nintendo and Konami are planning some kind of Castlevania themed month in October, which would kick serious you know what. Unlikely, I know, but I've seen stranger things happen. Also, didn't we already get a Castlevania game this year? ^^' (Dracula's Curse)

Re: Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth Coming This Month

Rapadash6

That can't be right... there were 9 yet to be released WiiWare titles slated for Q3 on that list and with only two weeks left of this years third quarter, seeing the release of that many titles, the likes of which include a handful of high profile games, is ludicrous. I think Q3 might be referring to Nintendo's fiscal year, which actually ends with March, thus making the months of Oct, Nov and Dec Q3. Sorry to break that to you all. I think an October release of Castlevania is very likely however, so that's still not that far off.

Re: Nintendo Channel Gets An Update in North America

Rapadash6

Nice update overall. The weekly Nintendo show is a bit on the corny side but reminds me of all those promos from back in the SNES days, like the Donkey Kong Country video sent out to Nintendo Power subscribers. Informative but I felt a bit like a tool watching it. At least the co-host, Allison, is super cute, so it's not all bad.

One thing I'm curious about is if videos will remain on the server, or if they are only on there for a limited time like in the past. I noticed if you look up a game it has a huge list of videos that don't show up on the main page. It would be nice to have a kind of perminent resource to refer to if I'm ever curious about a game. That alone would make this pretty much the most useful channel yet.

Re: Castlevania Comes to WiiWare

Rapadash6

I'm a huge fan of the series but not the Adventure games so much. Hopefully if it is a remake of the Game Boy original, it's a Metroid Zero Mission quality remake, as in it's so different that it's only the same game in name only. Hopefully we'll get to see and hear more on this game soon.

Re: Nintendo Download: Spaceballs, Shopping Carts, Poker, Street Challenges, Art and Toys (US)

Rapadash6

Definately a hefty update, but admittingly not much here that excites me. I took this as an opportunity to download Contra Rebirth from last weeks update and I am loving it. In terms of VC it's clear to me now that Nintendo of America wants to seperate their releases from other territories as much as possible which may not be such a bad thing. The likes of Smash, Pilotwings and Mario Kart will all come out here eventually but I guess we should just try to appriciate what they do release in the meantime, I suppose. Still a bit irritating that we have to wait longer but so it goes I guess.

Re: Tekkaman Blade Joins Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom

Rapadash6

Well, if that's true I'm sad that we won't be seeing Speed Racer but that's really only because he's the only Tatsa... whatever character I am familiar with. The possible addition of Zero, is QUITE awesome however. Preferably the MMX version but I can live with the MMZ incarnation, if need be.

Re: Super Meat Boy Development Update

Rapadash6

You know I just can't dig the Newgrounds.com art style in these games. It completely turned me off to the likes of Alien Hominoid, a brilliant game in pretty much every other regard. It just stinks of flash to me and is WAY over done these days. Now, Cave Story has a nice, unique art style.

Re: OFLC Ratings Promise Street Fighting Action

Rapadash6

The thought of more Street Fighter games on Virtual Console doesn't exactly thrill me. It's just like the Wonder Boy games; they just keep releasing alternate versions of games we already have. Call me when they get the arcade version of Super Street Fighter II Turbo, as that would be the only way I'd buy anymore games from that series other than the ONE I have now (SNES Turbo for anyone that's curious).

The one bit of good news from this is that this means more TG-16 games are on the way which could be pointing to an imminant release of Rondo of Blood, which I still attest will release, at least in the US, next month.

Re: New Zelda Wii Trailer Rumored For October

Rapadash6

Didn't Miyamoto say they were pretty far along in development of the new Zelda? From what I understand, he was just waiting to see how well Motion+ does at retail before finallizing the gameplay. Obviously it has done well and I'm sure the Zelda team has been working hard the past few months, so a trailer as soon as October isn't totally out of the question. The only thing that makes me kind of doubt this rumor is the fact that Spirit Tracks won't even be out by that point, so why would they risk taking attention away from that release? Personally I'm just excited to see updates on New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M at the October conference and I'm sure we'll see plenty of new info on those games.

Re: Nintendo Download: Rebirths, Colours, Jedi and Clubhouses (US)

Rapadash6

Not a bad update at all. I'm really glad that the Super Star Wars games all have been released though, so now we can start hoping for Smash Bros and Pilotwings again. Also I still stand by my predictions that we will recieve Rondo of Blood next month as a Holloween release. Just you all wait and see.

Re: Metroid Prime Trilogy: Visually Worse Than Original Releases?

Rapadash6

You know, I didn't even notice the partical effects were gone, but it's really not that big of a deal to me either. Why do people keep saying these effects weren't in the US version of the game because I specifically remember them being in there? I also remember that the gun didn't really move around as much on the screen as it does in the Wii version, so it makes sense that they would remove those effects if they were programmed with a still arm cannon in mind. I suppose they could've taken the time to reprogram them but they probably thought the majority of us wouldn't even notice, which I think is the truth of it. All in all the Trilogy versions are superior if only for the controls, which makes the game far more intuative to play.

Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - September 2009

Rapadash6

@WarioFan63 and Darknyht

It's just NOA trying to be smart with releases, you know, waiting for the "right time" to release those big name titles. The truth of the matter is that it doesn't matter WHEN they release them because they'll be as successful no matter what. So, yeah, that is something they just don't get. Frankly, though, I'm tired of the BS and just wish they would stop "holding on" to their first party titles.

Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - September 2009

Rapadash6

Great! Good for Japan! I'm so happy for them! __________

Seriously though, when is North America going to get some better games. I find it funny how little credit the company gives Americans the way they wave mediocre Star Wars games in front of us as though we aren't aware that everyone else has had Smash Bros. for the better part of the year. I don't want to hear how I'm complaining about a game that is passe either because that's not the point. It's a game that many people want, Nintendo knows it, but they refuse to give it to us. It's just not right! And no, I don't think we'll be getting it Labor day either, so don't try and tell me that, thank you.

Re: Review: Metroid Prime Trilogy (Wii)

Rapadash6

I really hope the 500,000 or so people who played the first Prime but not the other two pick this up and get the chance to experience Samus's other Phazon filled adventures. Afterall just because they weren't more or less a 3D version of Super Metroid like Prime 1, doesn't mean they aren't worth playing, right? Great trilogy and well worth the collectors edition treatment as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Nintendo Download: Jedis, Drills and Bubbles (US)

Rapadash6

The Virtual Console release wasn't really much of a surprise either but I'm happy that they put out Mr. Driller. Not a lot of releases today but they all seem decent at least. Plus Prime Trilogy comes out today, so it's a good week for Wii regardless of this update.

Re: Nintendo Download: Ninjas, Picture Books, Slot Cars, Sudoku and Guitars (US)

Rapadash6

What a turd of an update. And WHY Shinobi, if not one of the Star Wars games? Hello, Nintendo, we still don't have Smash Bros in the US and it's been out for a long time everywhere else... what's the hold up?

Actually I had heard a decent theory as to why we don't have Smash in the US and if true, it might mean we'll never get it. Appearently when the game was made, the US Pokemon voices (aside from the ones that weren't changed from their Japanese counterparts of course) were different then the ones they use now. There might be some kind of contractual conflict with these original voice actors that's causing the delay in the games US rerelease.

It seems to me that if that was the case though, Nintendo would just change the voices and also for anyone from European english speaking countries, aren't the Pokemon voices and names the same as in the US? Other than this though, there's no good reason we shouldn't have Smash Bros by now.

Re: What LucasArts games do you want to see on Virtual Console?

Rapadash6

Mostly the Indiana Jones games for the SNES and N64 but I'd also like to see Zombies Ate My Neighbors, not so much because I want it but because so many others do. Plus the ESRB rating a couple years back was a major tease, and now that it's possible, there's really no reason for them not to release it.

Re: LucasArts Bringing Classic Games to Virtual Console

Rapadash6

Great news for Star Wars and Virtual Console fans alike. Oh, and the more SNES games added to the service the better. At least now we know what the rest of August will look like. What about September though? Will we finally get Smash Bros. and/or Mario Kart? We shall see...

Re: Nintendo Download: Kindred Spirits, Rock N' Roll, Star Wars and Different Art (US)

Rapadash6

Although I am dissappointed by the lack of Smash Bros for yet another entire month, it's really hard to complain about this update. Not only is it the beginning of the SNES Star Wars releases but it's also a sign of other great Lucasarts classics to come, including Indiana Jones (SNES), Rogue Squadran and even Zombies Ate My Neighbors. Whether you're a fan of this developer or not, this is a really good thing and proof that Virtual Console is not dying, like we thought two weeks ago. ^^'

Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - August 2009

Rapadash6

Yeah, other than Final Fantasy IV, there's not a whole lot here to get excited about. Virtual Console is definately on the decline it seems, even in Japan. Still Final Fantasy IV is one of those games people thought would never come to the service originally, so this is still an excellent month... for Japan. ^^'

Re: Animal Crossing CD Album Coming Soon

Rapadash6

I wish NOA would add soundtrack albums to their version of Club Nintendo. I mean playing cards and DS cases are nice and all but to me, soundtracks are among the coolest kinds of collectables. I remember back in the N64 days I ordered tons of soundtracks from the Nintendo Power Super Power Supplies catalog. Now my only option is the very pricey auctions on ebay, and I'm tired of paying $30 or more for things people in other countries can get for free. The Platinum Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack was well worth it though.

Re: Nintendo Rep: Virtual Console Being Toned Down

Rapadash6

Here's what Nintendo needs to do; First of all, stop releasing VC games that little to nobody is interested in. Cut out C64 from the American line up completely as the system is incredibly niche over here and probably not worth the costs involved, even as minimal as they are.

Second, release VC games in bunches. I'm not talking about going back to three or four a week but, say, once a month have a Nintendo download devoted entirely to Virtual Console, rather than releasing one, or less, a week. This way there would be variety in the releases and it would be the perfect way to keep VC from stepping on WiiWare's foot and visa versa.

Lastly, have at least one major title a month. If people hear that Super Mario Kart or Yoshi's Island have been released, they'll be more inclined to check out the other titles released with it. The way things are now, I don't think nearly as many people even check the shop every monday because of the lack of buzz worthy titles. Sure, there have been decent games released but something needs to be both good and well known to attract attention.

I'll admit, on Monday I was very worried Nintendo would cancel the service indefinately but after chewing on everything that has happened the last couple of days, I'm starting to realize that maybe I, and many of us on here, jumped the gun a bit. It's possible Nintendo might just condence the service as I'm suggesting and I think in the end that would be a very good thing for all of us.

Edit: I'd also like to add that I don't entirely believe the legitimacy of this "reply". I've written Nintendo myself a couple days ago, so we yet shall see if I get the same, or at least, a similar response. Also, appearently someone on NeoGaf actually called Nintendo, and they were told not only that the VC isn't cancelled, but that we should expect a release this Monday. We shall see who's telling the truth soon enough I suppose.

Re: Nintendo Download: Monkeys, Musketeers, Cards and Sudoku (US)

Rapadash6

@Rum Rapture

You fail to see my point, obviously. What I mean is we don't have any special VC events like that here in America, so there is no good reason for Nintendo to hold onto releases over here because they aren't preparing for a month of more releases than usual like they just did for you guys.

Re: Nintendo Download: Monkeys, Musketeers, Cards and Sudoku (US)

Rapadash6

I don't even know what to say to this. Why would Nintendo just STOP releasing VC games? It's been incredibly profitable for them and it was a huge success... something just doesn't add up here. It's hard to be optimistic after two weeks of nothing. At least in Europe they were just being conservative to prepare for rush of import titles but we don't have release specials like that ever. Maybe it really is the end of our beloved service...

Re: Nintendo Download: Art, Cards and Crystals Have Gamers Seeing Spots (US)

Rapadash6

Well, next Monday we'll probably get Altered Beast because we haven't yet recieved our VCA title for the month and then the update after that is the first one of the next month so it'll be a C64 game, so no Smash until AT LEAST August 10th... Why does Nintendo insist on screwing North America over on first party titles? Meanwhile Japan will continue getting fatter on VCA titles, plus others, while Europe will probably get Super Mario Kart early next month just before we see Smash. It's just not right.

Re: What Nintendo games do you want to see on the Virtual Console?

Rapadash6

More than any other Nintendo title, I want Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

I'd also like to see Super Mario All-Stars (possible club exclusive?), Stunt Race FX and Star Fox.

I'd like to point out that this isn't really neccessary because I'm sure Nintendo will get all their own viable titles out eventually. Plus, yeah, they won't bother listening to a list like this anyway.

Re: Take on Doc Louis in a Club Nintendo Exclusive Punch-Out!! Game

Rapadash6

I just thought of something. Couldn't they offer Super Mario All-Stars as a Club Nintendo exclusive, sinse digital rewards are possible? Obviously putting it up to compete against the originals, which are still topping the charts every week, wouldn't make sense but it would be a good way to offer it to those who are diehard enough to want both versions. Just a thought.

Re: Nintendo Download: Bits, Tanks, Ants, Commandos, Pulses and Brains (US)

Rapadash6

I'm still perplexed as to why Nintendo won't give North America Smash Bros. but it's hard to complain about any update that gives us two games. Aside from the promising Pulseman, these are both catch up games so we are that much closer to Smash Bros.! Hopefully next week but I bet we'll get Altered Beast first, just to make us wait even longer.
