Re: The Wonderful 101 Demo Coming to Europe Today

Quickman

@Joffy Not only did Europe have to put up with paying more money for inferior PAL ports (still makes me angry), but we had to wait a whole six months for most games after they were released in the US.

I think that they got off pretty lightly with the W101 demo..

Re: Iwata: No Chance Of Nintendo's "Precious Resources" Coming To Other Platforms

Quickman

@Nintenjoe64 That's why I mentioned big 3rd party devs because all they need to do is repackage the same game every year, Sony and MS consoles have used exactly the same gamepads over the years, they never change, whereas Nintendo are always coming up with something different so obviously it's a headache for them.

I've always said that investing in smaller devs is the future for Nintendo, relying on big 3rd party support is a false economy, MS and Sony have that market sewn up.

Re: Iwata: No Chance Of Nintendo's "Precious Resources" Coming To Other Platforms

Why would Nintendo even think of going multiplatform? They've made a profit on pretty much every console that they've ever released, The Wii + Nintendo software sold like crazy and the 3DS is smashing it home.

The Wii U isn't even a year old yet they've managed to sell 3.61 million units, with little 3rd party support no advertising or big 1st party software, now it has an excellent lineup of games coming things should really start to pick up.

All this "multiplatform" idea would do is suit is big 3rd party devs, MS and Sony..

Re: Wii U Hardware Still Being Sold At A Loss

Quickman

Actually I think that they were selling the GC at a loss as well until it picked up..

@gurtifus Actually I'd say that now is the time to buy as when the games start rolling out and as demand gets higher, you won't be seeing price cuts.

Re: Iwata: Getting The Attention Of Gamers Is Harder Than Ever

There are a lot of AMIGA games available on the PlayBook, they even run natively on the OS, so I was really excited to play games like Chaos Engine, Desert Strike, Alien Breed and Turrican.. problem is that they are very difficult to control with the touchscreen.

You're limited on those devices to just swipes and taps, ironically though Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks would be a perfect fit for touchscreen so great games can be made on those platforms.

Re: Young Justice: Legacy Will Come To Wii U, 3DS and Wii in November

@Cohort Why do you have to have one thing without the other? Isn't that what this whole thing is about? Plus you're inventing a hypothetical situation to argue my point which is a bit silly really..

Also you're assuming that this is my POV, neither am I shouting or screaming (again you've manufactured that part to add weight to your argument).. All I'm saying is that some people have a point, it is a bit strange that a console heavily championed by Nintendo for it's local multiplayer capabilities and also being one of it's main selling points actually has the local multiplayer option taken out.

Like I said before it could be patched in later and it doesn't bother me, I'm quite happy but at the same time they're not doing Wii U owners any special favours either by including online play when it should be included regardless (same with the GamePad features) and generally why does it have to be either or? Especially as you're paying full price for these games..

@Davidiam007 I'm not the one complaining.. sounds like you didn't even read my reply properly, as I've already covered all the games and points that you've repeated and also gone on to explain about the "small install base" that you've mentioned 96 times. Plus the GamePad features come as standard as it's part of the Wii U, not an accessory or "special perk" and especially as local multiplayer has been championed by Nintendo itself over the years its strange that it's been left out. Maybe this will be patched in later, who knows?

Also thanks for mentioning your "stellar gaming career", the "I've owned every console going so that makes me an authority" argument I haven't heard that one in a while..

@Marshi Here flipping here! That splinter cell thing really annoyed me. I mean unless its a beat em up or platformer, who plays offline now anyway?

But surely you must realise that this was an odd move, especially when you take into account Nintendo's stance on local multiplayer (ie they heavily promote it).. and even more so when you look at how good local multiplayer is on say BLOPSII. It is after all a feature of the gamepad which in turn is a selling point of the Wii U.

@Davidiam007
I knew that it would be a long day today..

Okay first off just pretend that you're not on here just to moan about people that are moaning.

Secondly bear in mind that a lot of people own more than one console these days..

Wii U + Delays + "trimmed" 3rd party ports at FULL PRICE isn't really going to add many more to that small install, base is it? Because most people are just going to go elsewhere, why get the Wii U version with less features when you can get it on PS3 or whatever with everything included for the same price? Or as with the launch titles, own them already like .NFSMW which was old news before it was even released for Wii U.

Then you go on to name a string of titles that haven't been released yet, To be honest there won't be a lot to complain about WHEN those games are released but as it stands at the moment I don't think that you can blame people that much for feeling a bit peeved about most of the 3rd party "support" thus far.

Some have gone over the top with BLOPSII and Splinter Cell for instance, but most people have a valid point regarding other titles.

Re: Ubisoft Gives French President François Hollande A Wii U

@Araknie Actually you were the only one as you were the only person to reply to that post with your little rant because you assumed that someone was saying nasty things about nintendo...

Tell you what... give me your address and I'll send you a box of tissues so that you can dry your eyes...

@feline2 If you saw the twitter backlash regarding the news of Bayonetta 2 being a Wii U exclusive then you wouldn't think that any of those people were 20+

Besides, just because a game has M or 18 on the box doesn't mean that it's not aimed at kids..

Re: Ubisoft Gives French President François Hollande A Wii U

@banacheck I'd bet that CoD is probably one of the the biggest sellers on the system and it's a good thing that it doesn't have party chat as otherwise you'd be deafened by the high pitched insults screamed at you... The PS3 and 360 are set up in exactly the same way that horror movies were in the 1980's, 18 certificate (or adult themes) targeted at 12 -15 year olds. Sega even adopted a similar strategy with the Sega Megadrive..

... and this "real gamer" tag is utterly pathetic in all honesty, every time you see this term it generally heads into fanboy territory and is usually a prefix to a stupendously idiotic statement that you would find splashed across twitter or youtube. It's only one step away from "serious" or "hardcore" gamers who really are the s***s

Re: Nintendo Most Likely To Produce Gaming-Centric Tablet, Says Game Designer Jesse Schell

Quickman

@element187 They must surely realise that they need something else other than half arsed 3rd party support? Especially when you all you're likely to get is standard PS360 ports and companies like EA constantly bashing your systems..

The big 3rd parties are riding the gravy train, but starting to run out of ideas, Ubisoft have already announced an end to AC (not before time) Nintendo need to invest at "grass roots" level.
