Re: Nintendo Download: 26th September (Europe)

@unrandomsam I'm guessing that it's easier to pump out the NES ports, I don't even know if the Wii eShop upgrade is even worth it for NES Gradius? But Gradius II was great!

Looks like a Nintendo only VC for the Wii U from now on?

@Bliquid All my points are specifically to do with the hardware, pretty much everything else you point out I agree with except maybe the gamepad and a few Wii U games.

Of course, potential is only potential if nobody takes advantage of the hardware and that goes for all next gen hardware not just the Wii U, but there is a lot of misinformation out there regarding the Wii U in terms of performance.

It's going to be very interesting when the Xbone and PS4 hit, I don't think that some people are going to be as "blown away" as they expect to be. but in saying that I'll certainly be keeping an eye on the PS4..

Re: Shin'en: If Developers Can't Make Great Looking Games On Wii U, It's Their Own Fault

@Bliquid I wasn't comparing the Wii U to 7 year old hardware, it's quite interesting that you bring that up as obviously the problem here is that both the last gen systems are holding the Wii U back in performance terms.

Like I said before 3rd party ports to the Wii U are mostly from last gen hardware with different architecture, obviously 3rd parties are not going to go to all that trouble of developing games for the Wii U from the ground up when they can get away with basically what they are doing now..

As a matter of fact the PS4 and Xbone have more similar architecture to the Wii U which will make porting games to the system much easier.

Also the Wii U was built just for gaming, the PS4 and Xbone have a lot more going on than just games, so obviously they are going to need more resources..

No doubt the PS4 and Xbone will be more powerful, there's no doubt about that, but there's nothing to suggest that the Wii U isn't capable of doing some pretty awesome things either.

Re: Shin'en: If Developers Can't Make Great Looking Games On Wii U, It's Their Own Fault

@Bliquid But yet the Wii U can do all of those things that you listed, very well infact. The problem is that people are looking at the specs (which are still rough estimates for the most part) and then forming an opinion based off numbers with no idea how the RAM, the CPU and GPU actually work together.

In performance terms all the "credible" information that's out there suggests that the Wii U is a very capable console.

Re: Poll: Would You Buy Grand Theft Auto V On Wii U?

Quickman

@kereke12 If that was the case then Nintendo wouldn't never have allowed GTA to be released on the DS. This video on the other hand, may shed some light on the subject..

@TreesenHauser It's a 3rd party party game though, ubisoft are not going to put any more effort in than simply getting it up and running on Wii U + Gamepad. If Blacklist was built from the ground up for Wii then it would have blown the PS3 and 360 versions away in performance.

It's interesting that GTA "marks" are using the word "embarrassing" quite a lot in the comments and saying things like "this is what gives gamers a bad name". But in actual fact, if you look at the fallout from the Gamestop GTA V review, the word "embarrassing" doesn't even start to cover what went on there...

...and of course this "reaction" to the Gamespot GTA V review came from those so called "responsible", "mature" gamers... Marvelous!!!

Re: Soapbox: Why Grand Theft Auto V Isn't For Me

@ActionMan But many many people on here have also posted that they would buy it or have bought it on another system, a few people have said that they don't like it (including ONE member of the NL staff). That really doesn't indicate to me that there isn't a market for the game on Wii U...

Re: Soapbox: Why Grand Theft Auto V Isn't For Me

@SkywardLink98 I'd say all the blame was on Nintendo for putting Rockstar North off in the first place, not a lot to do with this site or people on here, all fans moan and complain, It's not like Rockstar North are getting anything as bad as death threats or anything like that from people on here now is it?

Also "you guys" how does that include me? Personally I'm not bothered about no GTA on a Nintendo system, would be good for Nintendo but I'm really not surprised by this situation.

Like I said before if I really wanted it then I could buy it on another platform. When I say that I "don't like the game", there's no subliminal message hidden in there, I just don't like GTA games and it's good to see that a few others feel the same way as I was beginning to think that I was the only one...

Re: Soapbox: Why Grand Theft Auto V Isn't For Me

Quickman

@jpcline004 I could go out and buy it for 360 if I wanted it, doesn't make a difference to me. I even had Vice City for PS2 for FREE, but I gave it away.

Some people just don't like the game, I'd assume that Damien McFerran, isn't speaking for the rest of the NintendoLife staff as it's just his own opinion, not theirs, If GTA did become available for Wii U then it would get a good review here as someone else would probably be reviewing it.

Personally i'd like to see GTA V on Wii U as it would definitely boost sales, I still wouldn't buy it though.

@SkywardLink98
Nintendo only have themselves to blame on that one.

Re: Soapbox: Why Grand Theft Auto V Isn't For Me

@Damo Are you sure that you're willing to incur the wrath of not liking GTA?

But seriously, I agree with the article, GTA just doesn't do it for me at all, I find it quite an uncomfortable experience, especially as the visuals have become more and more realistic over time.

I've tried to like GTA as I've had many a friend tell me how amazing it is, but in all honestly I find it to be fairly boring and quite unnecessary. Good to see that I'm not on my own here..

Re: Monster Hunter 4 Ships Over Two Million Copies in Four Days

@SCAR392 Either way, it needs to happen on Wii U, it would be crazy for the Wii U to miss out on a game like this, especially as quality exclusive 3td party games are not exactly plentiful at the moment.

I get the impression that MU3U did quite well on Wii U and that was only really an HD update, so a new MH game should do well?

Re: Review: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist (Wii U)

Quickman

I've never been tempted to buy a Splinter Cell game until now, so I guess that I'm part of the "new audience" that they're trying to pull in.

By the way, anyone in the UK looking to get this game, I picked it up on Amazon UK for £24.99... It arrived yesterday.
