If it could connect to the TV, I would consider it. But Switch is my only console, so having it able to play on the TV is a must, even if that's only like 25% of the experience for me. I do love the colours of the Lite, though.
@gcunit @Bunkerneath You think that's bad? I live in Ireland, where the shipping cost jumps up to £17 when ordering from Nintendo UK! Pull the other one, sheesh.
I hated—HATED—Bayonetta 1 and 2. Every aspect of them. It sounds like this has enough in common with those that I won't enjoy it, and the things that do look different aren't appealing to me. It just wasn't meant for me. That said, I do hope that everyone who has been hyped for the game really enjoys their time with it!
@DarthFoxMcCloud The YouTuber Mark Brown has an excellent video on his channel "Game Maker's Toolkit" that gives a really helpful and approachable breakdown for how to make good levels. He's definitely worth a follow, as all of his videos, which focus on various aspects of game design, are very informative and interesting.
@N8tiveT3ch I immediately thought that it was a tiny Shovel Knight controlling a giant mech armour made to look like his body. I shall not be persuaded otherwise.
@NintendoByNature Yep, different strokes for different folks And yes, like all media, if you find something to be truly unpleasant, then your time is worth more than its completion!
I really like the aesthetic of Astral Chain, but my utter indifference to Bayonetta has made me cautious. I'll be keeping an eye on reviews, but I'm in no great rush to play it. I'm trying to focus on clearing out the games I haven't finished before I make any big new purchases.
@NintendoByNature Thought I would. Everyone raves about it, and I remember liking the original Devil May Cry back in the day, but I don't find the combat fun, and I really, really don't like the over-the-top-ridiculous characters and plot. I know that's the whole point, and plenty of people love it for that, but it's just not for me. But I bought it, and by God I'm going to beat it.
@Damo @bluezbro It's also the best option when faced with the inevitable decay of original hardware. My old SNES looked passable on my HDTV, certainly good enough for me to still enjoy it, but then it started displaying all sorts of visual crud on-screen because it's nearly 30-years old and something just isn't working right anymore. Finally took the plunge on a Supa Retron, and it has given all my SNES games a new lease on life.
@Bunkerneath Strangely, there is a demo (in English) in the Japanese e-shop for Necrodancer. You'll need to create a Japanese account to get it, but I highly recommend you do. Why it's not available in other e-shops is a mystery.
They also said you could 'embiggen' enemies with a super mushroom and called Boom Boom a 'mad lad', so I think they were just in a particularly playful mood.
@daveh30 I've long been interested in the game, and that was my only reservation, too. A lot of outlets are reporting that it is a very impressive port. The YouTube channel "SwitchUp" has a good video on it—it wasn't shown in side-by-side comparison with the PS4 or Xbox One versions, but I honestly thought the direct-feed docked footage WAS from those versions at first. I bought it straight away after seeing that.
One thing I would definitely like about this setup is not having the HD Rumble obscured by the plastic of all the other traditional grips out there, and the wider spacing would probably feel better too. That said, those two aspects alone a worthwhile purchase do not make.
@RupeeClock Huh. I've been hearing people talk about the input lag on Classics, but I haven't experienced it at all. Not saying it isn't existing for others—maybe I'm just too dense to notice, haha. But it hasn't impacted my enjoyment of the games at all.
@Heavyarms55 That's how I use mine, too. I got the Mario themed one, which goes decently with the red right Joy-Con. My biggest issue with it is that it cramps my hand to use it without a grip on the Switch , but once I do (I use the GoPlay grip, which I had already), it feels pretty good. For $20, it's really not bad if you can get over the caveats; made my most recent playthrough of The Messenger even better, and it's great with the NES, Mega Man X and Sega Mega Drive collections.
@nintendo_idiots The term "console exclusive" is commonly used to refer to games that only launch on one of the home consoles in addition to PC. The original Hollow Knight was also a console exclusive when it launched on Switch, having been on PC before that. That ended up being only temporary when it launched on PS4 and Xbox One later in the year, though.
@Kidfunkadelic83 You should definitely give Snake Pass a shot while it's on offer. It took a couple of levels (for me) for the controls to feel right, but once they clicked with me it was a joy to play. I only wish there were more of it to play! I've had my fingers crossed for DLC levels or a sequel.
@Baart I can't speak for Atooi's other games, but Xeodrifter is a lot of fun. It's a bit pared back compared to other metroidvanias, but that's exactly what I liked about it at the time. It's a nice bite-sized game that feels great to play through in a few hours. Also, the HD rumble in it is fantastic, one of the best non-Nintendo games to utilize it.
@BionicDodo Will any European credit card work on the Russian eShop? I buy digital US eShop vouchers from Amazon to use with my US account, but there's no Russian Amazon at the moment.
@RoadieRunner @MeloMan If you have an Amazon UK account, you can switch the region to the US and buy Nintendo eShop digital codes using your UK debit or credit card, then set up a US eShop account and use the code to top up funds there! A little bit of a rigmarole, but a good way to take advantage of good US sale prices. I picked up The Messenger last night that way
I only ended up buying this because of the $60 digital edition in the NA eShop (not available in Europe, for some reason). Basically came out to around €50 Euros, with five ships, five pilots, and tons of weapons. I thought the game was absolutely thrilling, especially getting to play as Fox, and totally worth $60. I think that same basic digital edition is marked way down as well. If you live outside of North America, buy a digital eShop card on US Amazon. It really is worth giving it a try.
@Ogbert I was surprised with how well the motion controls worked for me, too. Almost every missed note felt like it was my own fault, because I'm just not that great at rhythm games. Granted, it was just the demo, but I had way more of a blast than I thought I would.
I'd honestly be tempted by this only because I bought my Switch at launch, and it's a bit worse for wear as a result (warping and cracking being the primary issues). Still works perfectly well, so I'm not inclined to buy a brand-new or even pre-owned system (which would be €200+). But then, I don't know that GameStop would even take my Switch in its current state for this deal; that, and I live in Ireland, so I can't avail of the deal regardless. Ah well.
@mr_grimm Totally agree with you about Dead Cells—I never expected to get so addicted to it! How far did you make it in Hollow Knight? It opens up in a huge, wonderful way after the first major area, and it just kept surprising me how much more there was to it, both in gameplay and in story.
Has anyone tried out the RDS Goplay Grip? Similar in design to this, though without the ergonomic asymmetry as far as I can tell. It's only $15 on Amazon US, and with family coming from the States soon I was thinking of having them ferry it over for me.

@sketchturner Haha, I literally just saw the sale price when I went to purchase the game and came on to amend my comment. Well spotted!

@Dazza Just a heads up that you have Untitled Goose Game listed at $14.99 here and elsewhere on the site, but it's actually $19.99 on the eShop.
Re: Video: Untitled Goose Game Gets New Gameplay Trailer, And You Know You Want To Watch It
I actually stopped watching, because I want to be surprised by everything the game has to offer. I'm honestly so excited to play this game
