Re: Feature: Peter Molyneux On Never Underestimating Nintendo, And Why Switch Is His Dream Console

MinervaX76

@superpotion he has a reputation of overhyping his games. Taunting extreme holy grail features that end up never delivering. However, like it or not, at the end he does still deliver games that plenty love.

He is famous for Populous, Dungeon Keeper, Black & White (pioneered gesture controls before touch screens was a thing) and the Fable series on Xbox, with a fun karma good/evil system that may had been a bit (definitively was overly) overhyped.

There was also some Kinect AI tech demo that was touted to be a game changer but... well just go to the Project Milo wiki to see how that ended.

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want From A Switch Mini?

*Fused controllers.
*Thumb sticks like the ones in the 3DS (analog sticks don’t play well with pockets)
*This may actually increase the price but: cell antenna. If it’s going to be focused on the go, would be nice to be able to hook it to my cell plan and use online features anywhere my phone gets reception.
*A DS style flap, even if only a flat piece of plastic that just flaps all the way to the back during play, to protect the screen and controllers while on the go.

Re: Rumour: Nikkei Suggests Smaller And More Affordable Switch Hardware Is On The Way

MinervaX76

@Spectra Nintendo is unlikely to listen to anyone asking for more power this early in the lifecycle, but it’s their pattern to introduce cheaper versions of their portables with removed features. Last gen alone they followed up the 3DS with both, the 2DS that didn’t have flip screen or 3D, and then later the more powerful 3DS (that came very late in the cycle) got yet another also-powerful 2DS model (that flipped this time.)

I think it’s next to certain Nintendo will release a somehow cheaper version if the Switch, I just am curious if it’s truly this year or next, and what features will be omitted.

I think they already sell a version wirh no dock in Japan, same model though.

Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Switch Release Windows For Metroid, Pokémon, Animal Crossing And More

MinervaX76

Pokémon “rpg” worries me a bit, does that hint it’s not a main entry and instead just a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon entry?

Edit: thank you all for reassuring me Nintendo already confirmed this was a mainline title.

Edit 2: is it only me or this years release schedule seems to lack punch? Sure, there is a mainline Pokémon there, but I feel for the mainstream that punch will be dampened by the release of Pikachu/Eevee.

Nintendo needs more big punches, I felt Metroid was going to be it.

Re: Download Warning Ruins Box Art For Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster

@mazzel honestly, I already have the game in too many platforms. I have it on disk for the PS3 and PS4, digitally on Steam, plus the original PS2 releases.

Playing on the go is appealing, but if the game is going to be half digital I may as well just get the digital package on it's own. I dare guess in digital form we can pick to buy them separately, making it cheaper if either of the games is of no interest (I just finished a X play through so I would only pick X2 if that was an option.)

@Indielink "Also, notifications for achievements can be turned off if they irritate you to such an extent."

Last time I checked, Xbox and PlayStation both only offered a complete disabling of notification popups, not just achievement/trophies. Even then, It's hard to explain, but just knowing they are there messes with my brain cogs. Honestly, the switch feels so relaxing without any of it.

Re: THQ Accidentally Confirms Darksiders: Warmastered Edition For Switch, Then Removes Evidence

MinervaX76

If the whole series becomes available on the switch, I’d get it and get rid of my PS4 copies (that I still have not played.)

I personally prefer playing on the switch even with inferior graphics as it means portability AND no achievements (I detest achievements as I try as I might can’t ignore them and they end up ruining how I play games)

Honestly I would not mind if the bulk of the PS3 and X360 libraries were re-released for the switch. Tons of games I never got to play due to not having time to sit in front of the TV. Switch is the only way I got to beat Skyrim’s campaign.

Re: Download Warning Ruins Box Art For Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster

MinervaX76

@mazzel Bayonetta likely does not have the warning because the box specifically says the product you are bring is Bayonetta 2, the splash on the corner simply stated it also happened to include a bonus download code for the first game.

In theory Square could have done the same, had they been willing to change all marketing material to simply say Final Fantasy X, not X+X2.

Mega man collections are trickier, since they advertise a full collection and have a one time digital code for the second half without a banner, but someone stated earlier that the white label seems to be for anything were the download is bigger than 25gb.

Re: Download Warning Ruins Box Art For Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster

MinervaX76

@mazzel Nintendo is the one that chose these labels and they are used on many games, I’m sure the punisher would love to hide this fact on small print on the back. I personally appreciate that a game that is not complete will be perpetually marked as such, no store can ever sell you a used copy and hide it’s incomplete, and no publisher can hide the fact you need internet to get the whole game.

The right solution is not the removal of the impossible to miss disclaimer, it’s for publishers to just include the whole game on the cart!

I’m personally going to avoid this version of the game, and eventually just buy the Asian version. No ugly label, and no one-time-use codes.

@Majora101 “Never assume you know more than someone because you dislike what they say. You are not as smart as you think you are.”
...
Dude, pause and take your own advice, think before you try to act all smart. I’m Puerto Rican. It’s not common to find English speakers outside of metropolitan areas.

TV is in Spanish. Newspapers are in soanish. Movies in theaters are always subtitled in Spanish.

Mainland school students also are supposed to take either Spanish or French in high school, go about asking how many actually can say more than two words in these language.

"Spanish and French were not widely added to the box artwork of Nintendo-licensed games until the Wii years"

And it has been annoying as #$!@ that French is prominently added to US releases of most products but Spanish always been ignored even given how many Spanish speakers that only speak Spanish are living within the US.

Re: Download Warning Ruins Box Art For Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster

MinervaX76

@mazzel those instructions seem to be about managing stuff for one switch. There does not seem to be a way for me to ever move a digital purchase to a new switch without access to the online store (that’s the same thing going on with the Wii now, once their store does dark, only the one switch you downloaded stuff too can continue to play then, hacking aside.)

Mind you, we may get lucky and Nintendo stops reinventing their store every generation, allowing us to continue downloading forever going forward (yea... like that is going to happen.)

Re: Download Warning Ruins Box Art For Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster

@JaxonH I don’t think Nintendo offers any way to back up games to SD card, at least not in any way you can use it in a different device if yours was to break down.

Carts are ridiculously resilient, unlike disks, it’s unlikely that they will degrade before your time in this realm is up (aciddents like a dog eating them aside)
