I wouldn't call the 6 month late release of a game that received very lukewarm reviews and deceptively advertised of supporting the "longest" out of the third party. Hell, Activtion put more effort into their Call of Duty ports in terms of supporting the Gamepad .

Considering, their statements of mature games don't sell on the Wii U, wasn't even true when holding on the portion that brought the game vs the size of the console base. Then issue okay, Ubisoft still had non-mature games that they could have had released games in genres that have historically performed great on Nintendo consoles like Tetris, Monopoly, Trail Fusions, The Crew, Uno, Hasbro Fun-Pack etc

An interesting take on AC: Black Flag from a someone that runs another Nintendo fan blog:

Ubisoft games are pure trash. I don't see how anyone can say they supported Nintendo considering all of the trashy games they released on the 3DS during it's launch period. When Nintendo were holding of the release of titles to give third parties breathing room for sales.

When I think of Ubisoft "support" I think of this: https://pietriots.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/3pwall1001_ubiwallofshame.jpg

Re: EA Executive Clarifies Scope of Nintendo Switch Support, but is Cautious of Its Prospects

@ThomasBW84 I'm sorry. Considering the damn price of the Switch is going to be 199.99 GBP, the you wants to go on about "...It's not anticipated to be bleeding edge technology for home gaming" That is the definition of a strawman. Bleeding edge compared to what? Xbox One/PS4/PS4 Pro CPU are nothing but two netbook CPU ducktaped together with a low end and low-mid end gpu (at the time of released) respectively. If you want "bleeding edge" why don't you write for PC-Gamer Life instead of NintendoLife. Or better yet get you expectation in line.

Re: Project CARS Isn't Planned to Appear on the Nintendo Switch

@cleveland124 From my limited understanding, NVIDIA and Bethesda seem to have a decent working relationship. Actually, there are a lot studios that seem to have a decent relationship with NVIDIA. So, I do think the noise/crap talk that Nintendo received during the Wii and Wii U eras from developers, at least, should be a bit toned down to almost non-existent.

Re: Project CARS Isn't Planned to Appear on the Nintendo Switch

@BiasedSonyFan Yes, that is true. However, have there ever been a SIM racing or SIM-cade racing game on a Nintendo platform? When looking at the GameCube third party sales, Need for Speed (although that is a arcade racing series) sold pretty well. Don't know the Wii Need for Speed sale figures. It doesn't help that Need for Speed: Most Wanted U was sabotage by EA.

Re: Nintendo Will Continue To Develop 3DS Software After Switch Launch

@MeloMan "Having multiple hardware systems is costly from a manufacturing and development standpoint despite successes, and the Switch in concept was born of Nintendo's motivation to consolidate it's hardware and software to strengthen each software title released, cut turnaround release time, cut development costs, reduce the headache of development, and stop it's split dichotomy of "profitable system, not-so-profitable system".

The above, hardware-wise, isn't even true historically for Nintendo. Both home and portable consoles were quite profitable until the Wii U.

@aaronsullivan the numbers only hold true for the United States. So, the console and handheld split is not evenly disturbed across the globe-in refecerence to your 50-50 split of handhelds. Looking at the gamestop article we have roughly 13 million +11 million +5 million= 29 million for PS4, Xbox One and Wii U receptively. Also, we still are getting releases for PS3 and Xbox 360 where this isn't the case for the DS, PSP. (which I can imagine this may as well be the case for the Vita in the United States as well) I believe the Xbox 360 sold about 40 million in US and the PS3 did about something about in the mid 20 million-ish (for this comment I'm going to assume 25 million in the US) figure. (Assuming a one to one relationship i.e. PS3 owner brought a PS4 case or a Xbox 360 brought a Xbox One which I know isn't exactly the case) We have 25 million minus 13 million equals 12 million remaining PS3 and 40 million minus 11 million equals 30 million reaming Xbox 360. So roughly at most 42 million gen 7 console owners out there that still may be gaming on them. 42 million for gen 7 and 29 million for gen 8 home console gamers. Roughly 71 million active home console gamers in the United States vs only the active 17 million gamers on the 3DS platform in the United States.

The gamespot article percentages refers to: "Top devices most frequent gamers use": PC (56%), dedicated game console (53%), smartphone (36%), wireless device (31%), dedicated handheld system (17%)

So, going by my calculated figures it seem as if the home console are the one that is underrepresented vs the handheld.

Re: Metroid Prime: Federation Force Power Bombs in Japan

@Caryslan Very good points. I don't think the concept is bad at all. FPS is missing in general on handheld systems so I would give some credit for that. The other issue is that it is hard to find people to play local multiplayer when it comes to the 3DS in the west, especially in the United States. Also, it would be a bit nice if it didn't retail for $40. Maybe if Nintendo would have had released the game as a cheaper download....
