Re: Luigi’s Balloon World Is Now Available In Super Mario Odyssey

Played it last night a couple of times... Probably won't play it again. I still haven't found a reason to revisit this game in months. My 8 year old son has recently gotten into it again though, and that makes me happy.
I feel like this game was more about passing the baton to the next generation of Mario fans. I know it had some some fun nods for the older Mario fans, but this game never felt like it was aimed at me for some reason.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's Riding High On Switch's Wave, But What Does It Need To Do To Stay There?

KevinLo9

I am at a point right now where for the first time I am getting a bit bored with my Switch. I don't want to be, and I know any console will go through ebbs and flows, but all that I am playing right now is Enter the Gungeon and Rocket League.
The only games that I could see myself buying in the next 6 months (that I know or suspect will be out in that period) are as follows:
XC2
Project Octopath Traveler
DLC for Mario + Rabbids

Honestly my wallet can use the break, but it does feel ilke Nintendo fired all their guns and I'm not sure what their 2018 strategy is quite yet...

Re: Soapbox: Is Super Mario Odyssey the Best Mario Game Ever?

KevinLo9

Not even in my top 5.
I beat it, got 600 stars but never enjoyed it, except for brief moments that made me remember better Mario games. I feel this game was created to create new fans among very young gamers. While that is smart for them business-wise, it just didn’t do it for me as a lifelong gamer and Mario fan.
1. Mario 64
2. Mario Galaxy 2
3. Super Mario World
4. Super Mario 3
5. Super Mario Galaxy

Re: Nintendo Direct Mini Is Happening Right Now

Wow... all that waiting, and what we get is a bunch of ports of Wii U and older games. No Online Service discussion, no VC, no Metroid info.
The highlight for me was the Mario+Rabbids DLC update. Did they say when it comes out?

Re: Enter the Gungeon Has Been a Sales Success on the Switch eShop

KevinLo9

I have a love/hate relationship with this game. I finally beat the first floor after 20+ attempts. I think ultimately I’m not a huge fan of roguelike level design.
It is undeniably fun, but I wish the co-op mode was available without beating the entire game, which I don’t think I will ever accomplish.

Re: Soapbox: A Super Mario Odyssey Sequel or DLC is All But Guaranteed

I might be the only one who was very disappointed with the length and scope of the game. I beat it in 12 hours with no difficulty at all, then spent another 18 hours getting to 600 moons. I really don’t ever plan to play it again.
The more I think about it, I don’t even think it would be in my top 5 Mario games of all time. I do hope they add to it, as the game itself was a little light on content, IMHO.

Re: Review: Stardew Valley (Switch eShop)

My wife was just saying earlier this week that she wished Animal Crossing was on the Switch.
I told her about this game but wasn't sure she would like it since it looked more like Harvest Moon than Animal Crossing.
She played it for 5 hours straight (she is not a gamer at all) and now I'm worried I won't ever get to play the Switch again. 😜
