Re: Ubisoft Slices Sales Predictions for Red Steel 2 in Two

JonWahlgren

I'd wager they're sticking to the name because it's established (the first game sold over 1M too) and much safer to slap on a 2 than go forth with a new IP.

Anyway, I passed on the first one but have my eyes firmly set on this one. Not much of a Western type, but I'm getting a good Sukiyaki Western Django vibe out of this. Plus, more FPS is okay in my book!

Re: Netflix on Wii confirmed

JonWahlgren

@Twisted: It's not ideal, I agree, but the disc is I think more of a necessity to get around a one-year home console exclusivity deal that they signed with Microsoft. The PS3 will be getting a downloadable app at some point for this, and I'd expect the same for Wii eventually. Netflix would rather not manufacture and ship more discs than they have to I'd guess.

As for if you keep breaking/losing the disc, well, if that keeps happening then you're doing it wrong. =)

Re: Netflix on Wii confirmed

JonWahlgren

@Twisted: I take you hate putting DVDs in the player to watch as well? Plus, as warioswoods pointed out, the PS3 has the same dealio.

That being said, hooray 360!

Re: Even More Nintendo Titles Get The Axe

JonWahlgren

@Machu: This is not a new trend, nor does it necessarily mean Nintendo is about to roll out a new console anytime soon. Just means they're not seen as profitable enough to keep up production or something along those lines. Excite Truck got dumped too a while back.

Re: Netflix Might Make It To Wii Yet

JonWahlgren

@Bulbasaurus: The cheapest unlimited streaming plan clocks in at $8.99/mo (plus you get one disc out), so depending on how much you wind up watching I'd say it can blow Red Box out of the water.

Re: Merry Christmas from Nintendo Life

JonWahlgren

No, it's the family gift. They do one gift for the entire family in addition to whatever else they give. If you have three kids in the house like they do, it's not fair to give a Wii to just one of them.

Re: Merry Christmas from Nintendo Life

JonWahlgren

@Smash: What makes you think the family is poor? Is it the video camera they're filming with, the TV and movies in the background, the computer and Internet connection they used to upload the video?

Re: Review: Rayman (DSiWare)

JonWahlgren

Actually, I don't think a problem now would necessarily have been a problem then, or at least not as severe. A lot has happened in the world of gaming since 1995.

EDIT: I know I put up with a lot more crap in my games when I was younger that I just won't tolerate in this day and age. Like Altered Beast.

Re: Podcast: NLFM Episode 1 - Open For Business!

JonWahlgren

@Ski Deuce: I recorded it in Garageband with a Rock Band mic. The room shouldn't have any sound problems, so I suspect it's a combination of cheap mic with a crappy sound filter and possibly some reverb snuck in by Garageband. I never actually noticed the reverb TBH, but I'll keep it in mind for E1M2.

Re: Nintendo Blocking Third Party Releases On Virtual Console?

JonWahlgren

Heresay of course, but I heard Nintendo threw a hissy-fit over Bionic Commando: Rearmed going to XBLA/PSN and not Wii and denied the original a VC release.

Sounds petty, but just petty enough to be believable.

@SSBF:

We can understand blocking some games from the Wii, since they might suck, but Virtual Console games is unacceptable.

Quite the double standard you got going there.

Re: Review: Doc Louis' Punch-Out!! (WiiWare)

JonWahlgren

@bro2dragons: In the NES Punch-Out!!, Doc mentioned the Nintendo Fun Club. In the Wii release, that line was updated to be Club Nintendo and was more a wink and a nod to fans of the old game than a hint that this was coming I think.
