I'd wager they're sticking to the name because it's established (the first game sold over 1M too) and much safer to slap on a 2 than go forth with a new IP.
Anyway, I passed on the first one but have my eyes firmly set on this one. Not much of a Western type, but I'm getting a good Sukiyaki Western Django vibe out of this. Plus, more FPS is okay in my book!
@Twisted: It's not ideal, I agree, but the disc is I think more of a necessity to get around a one-year home console exclusivity deal that they signed with Microsoft. The PS3 will be getting a downloadable app at some point for this, and I'd expect the same for Wii eventually. Netflix would rather not manufacture and ship more discs than they have to I'd guess.
As for if you keep breaking/losing the disc, well, if that keeps happening then you're doing it wrong. =)
@Machu: This is not a new trend, nor does it necessarily mean Nintendo is about to roll out a new console anytime soon. Just means they're not seen as profitable enough to keep up production or something along those lines. Excite Truck got dumped too a while back.
@Bulbasaurus: The cheapest unlimited streaming plan clocks in at $8.99/mo (plus you get one disc out), so depending on how much you wind up watching I'd say it can blow Red Box out of the water.
No, it's the family gift. They do one gift for the entire family in addition to whatever else they give. If you have three kids in the house like they do, it's not fair to give a Wii to just one of them.
@Smash: What makes you think the family is poor? Is it the video camera they're filming with, the TV and movies in the background, the computer and Internet connection they used to upload the video?
Actually, I don't think a problem now would necessarily have been a problem then, or at least not as severe. A lot has happened in the world of gaming since 1995.
EDIT: I know I put up with a lot more crap in my games when I was younger that I just won't tolerate in this day and age. Like Altered Beast.
@Ski Deuce: I recorded it in Garageband with a Rock Band mic. The room shouldn't have any sound problems, so I suspect it's a combination of cheap mic with a crappy sound filter and possibly some reverb snuck in by Garageband. I never actually noticed the reverb TBH, but I'll keep it in mind for E1M2.
Heresay of course, but I heard Nintendo threw a hissy-fit over Bionic Commando: Rearmed going to XBLA/PSN and not Wii and denied the original a VC release.
Sounds petty, but just petty enough to be believable.
@SSBF:
We can understand blocking some games from the Wii, since they might suck, but Virtual Console games is unacceptable.
@Devil_Hunter_Dante: To be fair to those guys, Treyarch originally announced Wii Speak support would make it in, but it was cut. My guess is to make everything run smoother, online really is awesome.
@Crunc: Madworld was, let's face it, a very niche type of game and probably scared off the general public with it's art direction. No amount of advertising could help that IMO.
@bro2dragons: In the NES Punch-Out!!, Doc mentioned the Nintendo Fun Club. In the Wii release, that line was updated to be Club Nintendo and was more a wink and a nod to fans of the old game than a hint that this was coming I think.
@Sneaker13: So far there are no plans for this to be made available to the general public anywhere else. If it did, I'd feel kinda silly for picking it since it was, you know, a Platinum exclusive and all.

Commenting before reading FTW.
Re: Fatal Frame IV Fan Translation Finally Released
@tealovertoma: There are actually loaders for System Menu 3.2, 4.2 and one for HBC. No reason at all that they can't work around it somehow.
Re: US Pokémasters: Preorder Now, Get Ho-Oh or Lugia Figures
Oh man, that's damn tempting. Might have to take the preorder plunge.
Re: Fatal Frame IV Fan Translation Finally Released
There are instructions on the site, but basically all you need to do is put the patch on an SD card, install it and play the game as usual.
Re: Fatal Frame IV Fan Translation Finally Released
No and no.

Re: Netflix on Wii confirmed
@Twisted: I take you hate putting DVDs in the player to watch as well? Plus, as warioswoods pointed out, the PS3 has the same dealio.
That being said, hooray 360!

Re: Interviews: Legendo's Pearl Harbour: Red Sun Rising
Battalion Wars 2 (Wii).
Re: Feature: For Your Consideration - Henry Hatsworth in The Puzzling Adventure
I thought the steep difficulty curve was great, made the game feel that much more rewarding.
Re: Review: Miami Nights: Life in the Spotlight (DSiWare)
Nah, I've played worse. It wasn't a great game, but like I said, you can still have some fun with it. Certainly whiled away my commute.
Re: Review: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (Wii)
@ryanknight717: Cool story bro. I hear Nintendo Life gave it a 9/10, calling it a "great horror game."
Re: BlazBlue Blazes onto DSiWare
My guess is free roaming fighter = Power Stone, but who knows.
Re: Review: Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (Nintendo 64)
Fixed!
Re: Review: Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (Nintendo 64)
Big huge fan of this game, just picked it up again actually. Hope this sees a VC release, STAT.

Re: Review: Rayman (DSiWare)
@UncleSporky: Cool comparison pic. Of course, just because the original game was that zoomed in doesn't mean it's still not a problem.
Re: Review: Rayman (DSiWare)
SCORE TOO LOW
Re: Nintendo Shifted A Boatload Of Hardware Last Week In US
@pikman96: Does it not say that?
Re: Nintendo Download: Monkey Island, Zoos, 'Copters, Face Stealing and Puzzles! (US)
I think it's safe to say we're one step closer to getting EarthBound on VC now.

Re: Podcast: NLFM Episode 1 - Open For Business!
@JayArr: That's the plan.
Re: Nintendo Preloading DSi's For Black Friday
No Prosody here.
Re: Nintendo's Denise Kaigler Calls It Quits
@V8: I highly doubt Kaigler was booted for going rogue in Nintendo Minute. You can probably remove the tinfoil hat

Quite the double standard you got going there.

Re: Review: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex (Wii)
@Odnetnin: Sorry, no content filter as far as I can tell.
Re: Review: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex (Wii)
@ioioi210: I coulda sworn it did, but apparently I confused it with the hardcore modes. I'll amend the review accordingly, thanks.
Re: Review: Ninja Gaiden (Virtual Console / Virtual Console Arcade)
@Bass: I fiddled and it should now be listed under Virtual Console, thanks for catching that.
Re: Hotel Dusk Is Getting A Sequel
I keep seeing Hotel Dusk for cheap, maybe I should finally get around to playing it.

Re: Pixmania: Wiimote Tech Is "Endangered"
@zranoll: Natal doesn't require a suit to use.
Re: Club Nintendo Japan Adds WiiWare Game Ultrahand
@King Elemento: It's Club Nintendo points, not Wii points. I'll fix for clarity. Thanks!
Re: Review: UNO (WiiWare)
Think I'll be sticking with my Batman UNO cards and the XBLA version that came with my 360.

Re: Nintendo Blasting Off With New DSiWare Puzzler
This reminds me a lot of the hacking minigame in Bioshock. Odds are good I'd pick this up, but I'm mostly holding out for Digidrive.
Re: Space Invaders Extreme Z Hits Japanese DSiWare
It's the only thing on the back of the game box. Big huge letters too, don't know how you would've missed it.
Re: Space Invaders Extreme Z Hits Japanese DSiWare
Space Invaders Extreme, that's what.
Re: Sin & Punishment Team Talks N64 Development Hell
@timp29: "The game library on the n64 was small compared to the previous consoles... perhaps an indication of the development issues."
Possibly, I'm sure this along with sticking with cartridges instead of CDs didn't help either.
Re: Miyamoto Talks Zelda With MotionPlus
The SNES was NES 2. I mean, all it did was put Super in front of the name.
Re: Nintendo Announces Wii Line-Up For THE WORLD
@bbb7002004: This list is Wii-only.

Was the MSX at all popular in the US? Seems like it was Commodore country here.
Re: Review: Zombies Ate My Neighbors (Virtual Console / Super Nintendo)
That giant baby is creepy as hell. Great game!
Re: First Impressions: Need for Speed Nitro
I like the cop mechanic, but the rest sounds a little drab. Hopefully the full version is more inspired!
