While I get the anger and I think Nintendo should definitely release the Fisher Price-version of the New 3DS in 'Merica, I don't get this idea of' entitlement' or 'right' or whatever. It's not like Nintendo is obligated to even release ANYTHING anywhere, as some people seem to think.
I fail to see how a subscription-based service would be a Loyalty Rewards program like some suggest. I mean, how 'loyal' do you have to be to Sony to get PS+? All you need is one PS console and a PS+ coupon.
@HandheldGuru97 Maybe you should read the next few sentences in the article, you know, where it's explained that Nintendo doesn't owe you anything. The very words @ThomasBW84 'took out of your moth' are the ones he doesn't agree with.
@Kaze_Memaryu I see. Thank you for explaining, and again thanks for staying mature (you won't believe what kinds of childish dip[nope]s are on other forums).
@Kaze_Memaryu First of all let me say that I appreciate you staying mature, unlike some other people here. But my original comment still holds true, you're still forcing your opinions on others. The things that made Melee so great for you might not be so enjoyable for others, conversely what you dismiss as 'lost potential' or 'bad choices' might actually be an improvement for others. Again, it's this my-opinion-equals-fact attitude that gives people who prefer Melee a bad rep.
@Kaze_Memaryu You know, it's this defensive behaviour that gives Melee-players a bad name. Please let people have their opinions on what counts as content or not, what play speed they prefer or whether or not they see some ATs as exploits or glitches or whatever. You'll only cause unnecessary negativity otherwise.
1. Wii U, has the most of everything and BY FAR the best online. 2. 3DS, more limited than Wii U but it gets credit for being portable 3. Brawl, lots of content but non-functional online and looked ugly 4 (by far). Melee. I must be the only one who hates Melee's speed around here, never found it comfortable nor fun to play. Plus, the whole game always felt... unfinished for some reason. And before I get angry replies, I played Melee before Brawl.
Never played the original, so I can't speak for it.
Games that make a joke about being terrible can be funny now and then, but only, ONLY when said game is free. No exceptions. A good example is this. Terrible, self-aware and funny for ten minutes at the most, but also free.
@Light Your comment made it seem like you think even the smallest improvement over its predecessor would make it better than that predecessor, even if they take six years actually implementing it. Anyway we do seem to be on the same page indeed, I really don't understand why people would give it an A+, implying it's perfect. It objectively isn't.
@Light Really? That's your logic? Of course every console is going to improve on its predecessor, but that doesn't make it overall better! It has to actually be a big improvement over the previous one, otherwise they could launch a new console every week and clock the processor one hertz higher every time, and it'd still be 'the best Nintendo console ever' by your logic.
I give it a C, without accounting for sales. The OS is still slow and looks childish, the online functionality is still from 2005, and the hardware is still enormously limiting from a consumer's perspective. It's the games that save it.
@xj0462 Could you tell us why? Not trying to dissmiss your opinion here, you're allowed to have it, but I just wonder why'd you dislike him. Care to explain?
@Baker1000 @billychaos @mamp It's been confirmed for a while now that the New 3DS is coming to the West in 2015, Nintendo is just not hyping it because it'd kill holiday sales for the regular 3DS.
If I'm getting one, I'm getting the XL, because I like all my electronics to be one colour, preferably (probably spelled that wrong lol) black. Honestly, I hate those SNES buttons on the normal sized one.
@unrandomsam ever heard of the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon? Basically, it's when you hear/read about something, and all of a sudden you start seeing it often. I think that's what happened with you, you heard about the double 64th frame-bug and convinced yourself you noticed it. Then, being the half-troll you are, blew it up as the game being 'broken' in your conquest for responses on unreasonable complaints you have about Mario Kart 8.
@jrob23 You are right about the sales, MK8 really need to give a bigger bump, and the one that it did gave won't last long. Only, expecting a new console by 2017 it's unrealistic, especially if they're to actually give it some launch titles. With the ever increasing development cycles of videogames, creating a console in five years is near-impossible, especially for Nintendo. Also, do you expect MS and Sony to replace the Xbone and PS4 within 4 or 5 years? Ridiculous! Anyway, I think it'll be holiday 2018 at the soonest, with MS and Sony taking another year. As for the 3DS' successor, 2017 or even 2016 does seem more realistic.
I think we all need to remember that these aren't demos of full games, they're IDEAS. They might make a collection of robot-themed minigames, or put them as missions in Starfox (like the Landmaster in SF64/Lylat Wars). Who knows?
@AcesHigh73 problem Solved? It's just create more problems!
We're talking about the Wii Remote here. A device that tracks movement in three dimensions. There's no way a tocuhscreen or analogue stick could replicate that, as they only track two dimensions. But say they only do it for Mario Galaxy, then you would still need three hands. One for the left stick, one for pressing A or whatever would make you jump, and one for either moving a cursor with an analogue stick (which is already horrible) and awkwardly shaking it every five seconds, or constantly blocking the GamePad-screen. It would ruin the entire game!
Now I don't want to sound pessimistic, but when you think it through, you'll find SMG was MADE for the Wii Remote. No other controller could replace it.
@AcesHigh73 About the first one: Why I would love to see the Gamepad work as a classic controller, it won't ever be able to simulate a Wii Remote, so SMG'd be impossible.
And nobody questions why? The Wii U's processor has a much LOWER clockspeed than those of BOTH the Xbox 360 and PS3. This makes porting games over all the more complicated, slows down the OS, and makes it difficult to program for, thereby increasing the time it takes to create games. All to make the console smaller and more energy-efficient.
Somebody please fire the people who thought that was a good idea...
@Tobias95 Please tell me how processing power contributes to having more characters. Higher disc capacity, sure, but the power of the hardware? Do you know how that stuff works?
