While I find this a good idea, I have some questions before I decide to get in:
1. What will the price of the figurines and the reader/writer for 3DS be?
2. Which / how many games will support it?
3. Will you be forced to buy figurines to play these games or are they like DLC?
4. How many will there be?
5. Will you be able to see which one you're buying from the package? I have nobody to trade potential doubles with.
I'll wait for answers, then I'll judge

@unrandomsam They don't want an unified platform. They want their next handheld and console to be 'like brothers,' sorta like the PS4 / PS Vita.
Making one unified console would be a bigger mistake than the Virtual Boy.

@shad0w-7 Financials of game companies have nothing to do with games. Dafuq? Look at THQ. It had bad financials results. It went bankrupt. They can't make games anymore. Saying: 'This has nothing to do with games' is like saying: 'I wonder what's on TV today' while a meteorite is falling down. You're sticking your head in the sand.

@123akis If the price is 'fine' how is it not selling. Seriously, I had hoped they'd make a mariokart bundle for 249.

@unrandomsam SSB and LBW beg to differ. Full 60fps. Maybe you don't know, but the framerate is decided by how graphicly intensive a game is. It's not like Nintendo said: Nah, we don't want 60fps.

Maybe you should do your research before you troll: The biggest 3DS game in data is Bravely Default (an RPG with metric gigatons of hours in it, I might add) with 3,23 GB. 3DS game cards currently come in 1, 2 and 4GB, however an 8GB card is also possible. Doesn't seem limiting to me.

@tsm7 looking at the amount of stamps that are available and the amount of levels in the 6 normal worlds, I think it's pretty likely.
