I have a folder on my steam deck for the main games I play on there that I'd like on Switch, now Switch 2. It's tempting to say money being left on the table but 3rd party sales on Switch often underperform...anyway: Titanfall 2 Dead Space (old and new) Half Life 1 & 2 (+ep 2+) Shadow Complex Enslaved Jedi Fallen Order GTA IV and V CoD MW remasters
Great survey, looking forward to the results. this will never happen, but... I want a dock for Switch (or Switch 2) that will allow me to plug in my 3DS carts and run them on my TV, via an emulator on Switch. That library is so much fun, but I'm too lazy to emulate it all on my Steamdeck
Many long-time wishlist entries for me here…Half Life 2, Samus Returns, Yoshi Wooly/ Kirby Epic and the Zelda’s all much wanted.
Add to that Shadow Complex, Dead Space, and anything else if got in my “Not on Switch” SteamDeck folder…Castlevania - Mirror of Fate, Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate, CoD Black Ops 2
Some wayforward love - Contra 4 / Alien Infestation
GTA Chinatown Wars
Ridge Racer
Metroid Samus Returns
Luigi’s Mansion 1
Kirby’s Epic Yarn / Yoshis Wooly World
DKC Returns
Zelda Ocarina and Link between worlds
Batman - Arkham Blackgate
Castlevania - Mirror of Fate
@masterLEON that’s awesome detail - I have always missed the “what is this place?” VO I’ve double dipped on Thunderforce, Gradius series and Contra despite owning the collections - Arcade Archives is sublime. We need Rastan, Battle Chopper/Mr Heli !
@PJOReilly Thanks for the reply - it's a bummer that publishers put you and other outlets in this situation - it doesn't inspire confidence in them - and of course, it is no reflection on the work you and your great team do. I picked up my pre-order. Asylum and City seem fine, perhaps the former more downgraded than I expected (SteamDeck spoiled me). I put an hour into Knight - and it's oddly not too troubling. For sure it isn't the best way to play it - but it's playable and reminds me of trying to discern detail playing Doom on the GBA - a handheld experience you didn't expect to be possible.
@Jimgamer8 went through the credits sequence on Arkham Asylum - looks decent, but some frame skips and graphical glitches. Will persevere. Love many of the ports on Switch, so hope this one works out. Sadly Arkham just stopped working with my new SteamDeck so good timing I suppose.
So is the review embargoed, or did you get no review code in advance? Either way, pretty disappointing from WB Games / Nintendo with the game now in the wild.
Enjoyed the list and totally get where some folks are less into the Igavania style, or others see Rondo as too simplistic. Personally I had a good time with Mirror of Fate - I think a combo of the button mashing and the way the 3D fills my diorama-aesthetic needs. While we are here though, the GBA emulation from M2 for the Advance collection seems lacking next to the official Nintendo GBA stuff. The pixels on Metroid Fusion look AMAZING, and Aria on my GBA screen looks way better than Switch
Commercial reasons seemed the most likely excuse back in the day, but with the install base you’d think it would be a money maker, esp if a port of an older series, like a MW 1-3 collection, or MW remaster 1&2 collection. After seeing what’s possible with Metroid Prime, you have to think CoD could work really well.
Both such great machines. As an older gamer, who prefers dipping into games in a handheld setting, these are both essential to me. I’m not much for tinkering and the Deck has been pretty painless so far. Doom Eternal, God of War, and CoD: IW all run amazingly well. It’s for that, and all the stuff I can’t get on Switch (Half Life 2, Shadow Complex, Dead Space) that make it a great companion machine.
Disappointed. Cancelled my Switch pre-order. With the $60 price, lawsuits against modders, and removal of the old games from digital storefronts, it is hard not to feel incredibly cynical about Rockstar. The QA seems totally absent, for a mobile port from a developer seemingly out of their depth. The CEO and Michael Pachter gaslighting fans with “tough decisions” / “like rating the first Star Wars movie against most recent” BS is just the icing on the cake of the whole sorry episode. So much potential wasted.
@Ikana64 I’ve had mine for a few months. Initial reaction was that it didn’t do a whole lot and it went in a drawer. Then saw a forum post that if you set the WiiU to 480p and then run vWii, it made a difference. It is certainly appealing for some of the games. Metroid Other M def benefits. The GameCube is helped a lot as well. It is a smoother image so it def has a “look” about it. Was nice to revert back to my Wii/cube and CRT for an alternative with pixels/scan lines
@Jimgamer8 aaand a quick visit to Wikipedia later, same designer: Tokuhiro Takemori, behind both games. Astyanax seemingly the arcade follow up/refinement.
This looks pretty similar to the very fun Legendary Axe on PC Engine/TurboGrafx. Some identical enemies (pill bugs) and pickups. Def will be getting this.
Great. News! Crime Fighters predates GTA 3’s kicking your opponents on the ground by over a decade. Always felt grittier and more fluid than Double Dragon.
Ok, here goes: A Tekken game A ridge Racer game A Soul Calibur game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered Mario 3D World Zelda Wind Waker or TP HD Dead Space 1 & 2 Burnout Batman - Arkham Collection The Orange Box Shadow Complex Remastered
@Moroboshi876 I’m pretty sure I read more than one article quoting Konami with the intent to ad the regional variations into Castlevania as well as the Arcade Classics. Bummer as I already bought the much better Japanese version of the latter.
The US version of this has a terrible version of ThunderCross. 1 shot type, no varied special weapons and the multiples aren’t adjustable. Worth buying the Japanese version for the proper game, and you get Salamander thrown in.
The Japanese version seems an essential purchase with Musha, Bloodlines and Contra onboard. Buying all 3 on cartridge would be Well over $1000. The Japanese Contra is interesting for the energy bar vs one hit death in the US release.
I own the GC component cables, a Wii and the Eon device. HDMI is clearer than the component options and obviously not all HDTVs accept component. The scanlines and line doubler are nice features. Worth every penny
Would love to see some of these - Batman Arkham Trilogy, CoD:MW Remastered for sure. The Orange Box seems obvious given HL2 and Portal are on the X1-based Shield TV. Would be nice for a Gradius Colllection to turn up. Still waiting for Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath. If we are looking at the X360 catalog, how about Dead Space?
Downloaded this late last night and looked in my “Purchased” tab, where the unexpected benefit of my linked Movies Anywhere account became apparent. 100+ movies accumulated over the years from iTunes, Vudu, Google Play and DVD/Blue Ray (Digital copy) purchases. Who needs Netflix? Sadly no download feature as far as I could tell.
@Dalarrun the Symphony of the Night/Rondo of Blood Collection they just announced exclusive for PS4. I’ve got limited experience with 3D Castlevania - PS2 and 360 games. More God of War/Ninja Gaiden play mechanic
@MisterKorman bs=disappointing. I’ve pre-ordered it, and have the originals on my Vita/PSP, PSX and DuoRX. Sony exclusive just annoying, and I don’t know why Konami wants to ignore the Nintendo fan base. Hell, they were happy to put it on XB360
Well this is a nice surprise after the Konami/Castlevania bs. Of course I already have it on Vita, PS3, PS4 and WiiU, but...the Switch is just too convenient.
Close to giving up hope that Konami’s stuff (Gradius, Gradius 2, Salamander, Thunder Cross, Contra) or R-Type, Atomic Robo Kid ever make it to switch. Bummer.
It’s good news in terms of likely continued support from the indie development scene. V true that PS4 owners have other AAA games to buy. But as a PS4/Vita owner, it was really important that indie releases in the Vita’s heyday were cross-buy, so you felt you got 2 for the price of one, given the utility of a portable and a big screen experience. Switch has made that the default for all their games, so with the Vita seeing far fewer titles, there is no reason as a dual system owner to buy the PS4 version.
M2 have overseen some of the best emulation work out there (Megadrive on Virtual Console, NeoGeo Station and Capcom Arcade Cabinet on PS3, the amazing Gradius/Salamander/Parodius Collections on PSP and GBA on the WiiU). I still regularly take out my Konami Arcade Hits on DS for one of the few official Arcade perfect ports of Contra out there. Here’s hoping they are supported by Nintendo to get as many retro titles on Switch as possible - no better place to play them.
Good to hear. All 3 have been great games on the Switch and I’m looking forward forward to seeing what they can do with the new Doom, and presumably a Fallout game.

Great so far, though the Haunted Castle remaster only makes me long for Rebirth. Nitpicking, a DS pixel overlay would be welcome.
