Re: Head Of Abstraction Games Addresses Technical Performance Of The Switch

This isn’t surprising given the technical differences between the hardware of PS4/Switch. Having said that, we’ve seen developers do some great work (notably Panic Button with Doom and Wolfenstein 2, as well as LA Noire and Bayonetta) in porting from different hardware. It is understandable that almost no simultaneous development of a triple A title (aside from The new Doom) has happened, whether due to economics or technical issues. What is disappointing is how few last gen ports have been undertaken, aside from the obvious 1st party stuff. Skyrim, LA Noire, Bayonetta show a pretty good approximation of what a PS3 or Xbox 360 can do. How much of an audience for portable versions of The Orange Box, Borderlands 2, Call of Duty Black Ops 2 etc there is is something I’d like to know

Re: Nintendo Is Ramping Up Switch Production To 25 To 30 Million Units A Year

That seems ambitious, and availability here in the Eastern US is high (multiple neon joy con models in Target, in stock at most Gamestops when I check my app, and amazon in stock most of the time). Clearly building up for the Thanksgiving buying frenzy. Having said that, this isn’t the Wii, it is more personal. Apple sells more than 25m phone a quarter. IPad is more like 10m per quarter. As a device that is more premium than 3DS and more versatile than a TV console, Nintendo’s strategy of sellling one to each member of the house is taking shape. Profile transfers just added to the OS. Hulu just hit, so the apps are starting. Take a loook at the best sellers chart. Yesterday Mario Kart and Zelda were back in the top 5 - new Switches getting the high profile titles perhaps? This machine has real momentum. If LA Noise does well, and Rockstar puts GTA IV or V on Switch, 25m a year won’t seem like much.
