People whine about "dry release schedules" but pretty much every nintendo console has only a dozen or so big releases, some hidden gems, and maybe a few 3rd party titles. That's usually it. People were probably saying the same thing about the gamecube or the n64 (and definently the wii u).

@DreamerAbe86 I don't care if the characters are women (though looking at some of the gameplay it seems that was done for progressive pandering), I just think the characters are ugly. You're being a tad dramatic.

@carlos82 uh, considering the last zelda game has sold over 10 million copies I think it has SOME appeal outside of hardcore nintendo fans.

@KingdomHeartsFan most of the successful psvita games were lesser versions of console games though lmao. Unless obscure jrpgs are your thing I don't really see how the library of the vita is that impressive. People crap on nintendos consoles for being "flops" for decades now, I think we are entitled to make fun of Sonys one huge flop other than the playstation move 🙃

@Kimyonaakuma I've seen people at my old school with swtiches, and I have seen a woman play with a switch in a social security office waiting area, interestingly enough. I guess you know you're console's a success if you got sassy black women buying your systems. I think the switch is too bulky to really carry around as a "portable" console.

@Gravitron Eh, I'm sure adults in the 90s thought most of those toys were stupid too, it's all about good marketing. I do think some of the older toys were cooler, though.

@Baker1000 they are ugly plastic babies that dress like trashy pop stars. I think they're popular because of those creepy kids youtube/toy commentary channels that always promote them (I know this because my little sister watches these weird videos).

@dimi or maybe nintendo consoles just aren't as popular in the UK, like how it's been for decades now? And no, considering the switch is cheaper than even the Wii U when it released, it isn't "too expensive". Unless you're dirt poor or don't have any extra spending money that's a stupid argument.

@EvrgrnCmln to be fair arms sold decently with around 2 mil copies so far. I wouldn't even count sushi striker as a new franchise tbh.

So based on the comments, I've gathered that: There's too much story or not enough story, the designs are too over-the-top or too basic, the battle system is too complex or too simple, the games are too similar or too different, ect. In my opnion, there's been just too many games released. Since 2010, there's only been 2 years where there hasn't been a mainline Pokemon game released (2010 and 2015). The series just needs a break, especially since the next game will be the first main game on a console, so develop should take longer anyway.

@MrGawain "inevitable smash port". Uh, no. Smash has never been ported outside of the 3Ds version, so I don't know why people are so sure of this supposed smash 4 port. It makes sense with games like pokken tournament and bayonetta since, I guess Nintendo wanted to gives those games a broader audience and sell better than the Wii u versions, and even with Mario kart it made sense to release a well known port game early in the switches release just to make easy money and keep the release schedule not completely dry. But smash? It's been almost 4 years. Time for something new

@N8tiveT3ch yes, well... I would expect a system that has been around for over 6 years has a more impressive library than the switch (which is less than a month old) Funnily enough the switch still had a more impressive launch lineup than the 3Ds.

@Alshain01 but compared to the Wii u, it has MUCH better marketing, it's less expensive, at least it has one great game at launch (yes I know it's on the Wii u as well, but it's still likely the better version).it seems you're just over emphasizing the negatives.
