Yesterday, it was revealed Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go was the fourth best-selling product during the Black Friday sales. Adobe has now released information to highlight the most popular products in the US on Cyber Monday. In more positive news for Nintendo, the Switch was the third best-selling product on the list.
This information is once again sourced from Adobe Analytics, which analyses "billions of data points across the Adobe Experience Cloud" to collect insights for online retail and e-commerce. The company shared a tool as well which displays these recent online sales trends for Cyber Monday. Here it is below:
As you'll notice, the Nintendo Switch was only video game console in the top five, managing to outperform other tech devices such as laptops (specifically Dell and Apple) and LG televisions. Ahead of it was L.O.L Surprise and Fingerlings - toys marketed towards children. The Switch also took out fourth place a few days before this, on Small Business Saturday.
After Pokémon made it onto the Black Friday sales chart in fourth place, it's not all that surprising to see the Switch has had good sales during this period as well. As Twinfinite notes, there's no guarantee this will make the Switch the most popular video game system during this period, as the above information is limited to online sales data. The NPD is expected to have the results revealing how exactly the Switch performed this holiday season in December.
Did you expect the Switch and its games library to sell well during this period? Did you pick up any Nintendo products yourself over the past week? Tell us below.

And Lets go Dominated Black Friday, meanwhile Bloomberg writes an article how the Switch isn't selling well... LMAO
@Rika_Yoshitake That was more about analysts' predictions. They are predicting sales will be flat YoY (basically implying that it's a disappointment). I would argue that Europe is the problem child for Nintendo, tbh. In Japan and the US, Switch is selling fairly well (if not better than this time last year). Also, the analysts aren't taking into account that a mainline Pokemon game is launching by the end of next year. That alone will boost sales. It's hilarious they're doubting it. There is no way, zero, that a console Pokemon game won't increase sales. Even without the rumored redesign, Pokemon on TV has been a Pokefan's wet dream since 1998.
And the article also has quotes from Michael Pachter, the king of trolls. I'd take it with a grain of salt at this point, especially since they're pretending no mainline Pokemon is in the works for Switch and is set to launch next year.
It doesn't sit right with me that fingerlings and lol surprise are the top 2. I mean look at the top toys from the 90s.
1990 – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Action Figures. ...1991 – Nintendo Game Boy. ...1992 – Super Soakers. ...1993 – Talkboy. ...1994 – Power Rangers Action Figures. ...1995 – POGS. ...1997 – Tamagotchi. ...1998 – Furbies + Beanie Babies.
What the hell is a LOL Surprise?
@Baker1000
Basically Bratz dolls. Fingerlings isn't much better they are just finger puppets
Woah. Awesome. Pokémon Let's Go and 5mash sure must be helping out. And next year will have many great Switch games too. Best time to get a Switch.
@Gravitron So, we're going to pretend POGs and Furbies were better? In fact, the Fingerlings are a lot like Furbies.
That to comes off as no surprise. Buyers probably waited for this day.
Cool news! Glad that those Switch bundles seem to be paying off for the big N.
If Fingerlings are what I'm thinking of...why? Just why?
Here comes the tired unfunny "nInTeNdOoM" crowd. Guess what, it was never funny!
As a Nintendo fan not fanboy I am always glad to hear about positive sales of any system as sales usually equal more games and third party support. So great news for Nintendo and ultimately for their fans.
Good thing the Switch lost out to Fingerlings.......o.O
@IronMan30 I wouldn't go as far and say all of Europe. If I recall Nintendo often sell very well in France and Germany. Us Brits don't know what good gaming is even if it hit us with a ton of bricks however.
However it seems Nintendo is breaking into UK much more with the Switch, and have been seeing tons of adverts on numerous TV channels over here which were nonexsistant with Wii U.
Also to add Amazon UK had some really good black friday deals for Switch which believe sold reletively well over here.
All in all we definitely are the trouble child but only certain parts of Europe.
@Baker1000 they are ugly plastic babies that dress like trashy pop stars. I think they're popular because of those creepy kids youtube/toy commentary channels that always promote them (I know this because my little sister watches these weird videos).
@Gravitron Eh, I'm sure adults in the 90s thought most of those toys were stupid too, it's all about good marketing. I do think some of the older toys were cooler, though.
Fingerlings and LOL Surprise is not belong electronics gadget. It's just a Toys. We are not talking about Toys.
Fingerlings...
I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
Going to trade my Switch in tomorrow for 5 Fingerlings and a handful of LOL Surprise.
Thanks to the fact that black Friday is seemingly a week+ long event for everything including the internet, this information is largely useless. Just means the switch didn't good deals during that time and a lot of people gave up on waiting. Which is understandable for the fledgeling console. Meanwhile anyone interested in a PS4 for 200 could snap one up before black Friday.
@IronMan30 Not only that... You'd think Let's Go had not just released and Smash Bros was not around the corner.. And that they hadn't already announced several heavy hitters for next year... Animal Crossing, Pokemon, Luigi's Mansion, NSMBU DX.... And there are probably more to come.
Smash.
Smash.
Smash.
@Rika_Yoshitake those Bloomberg public viewable articles are always no real value.Think because the author dun have real life,and dun know what’s ppl around are buying and playing.I only believe what I saw in real life, the popularity of switch games definitely dominated.
But did those people make it home alive with their Switch on Black Friday?
@NotSoCryptic
I smell some rationalizing.
Think of how much more software they would sell if they actually, you know, gave their best sellers an actual worthwhile discount.
@RedMageLanakyn
They... actually did.
Tons of games were discounted on the eshop and in stores. 33-50% off many 1st party games. I got gifts for coworkers. DKC for $31.99 after GCU, Skyrim was half off, Valkyria Chronicles 4 for $31.99 after GCU and $29.99 on eShop, Zelda was discounted, Mario Rabbids for $25, DOOM for half off, think even Mario Odyssey was discounted, Starlink full starter set for $39.99 on Amazon, Monster Hunter $28 after GCU, South Park FBW for $17, Stick of Truth half off in eShop, Okami, Wolfenstein, LA Noire for $10, Crash and Shining Resonance for $25... a ton more I’m forgetting too.
It was one of the best sales I’ve seen for Nintendo across both physical and digital. Basically 2 separate sales for physical across retailers and then Nintendo’s eShop sale for Black Friday and Cyber Monday (which may have also been split into 2, can’t remember, although the Cyber Monday eShop sale is still live).
@roboshort or that last minute Christmas gifts weren't about to be purchased in the coming weeks to add to your point.
@NOELQUEZON I think that's sort of the point. That cheap toys that people could likely get at bargain bin prices in comparison to a full console were the only things to outsell's nintendo's products is basically saying that the only thing that could outsell nintendo were the kind of tiny easily forgotten purchases that were going to get the top spot anyway.
Nintendo basically outperformed everyone it actually needed to.
2018 may have been more of a muted year than 2017 was (even though it still received an insane amount of great games), but 2019 is going to be unreal!
You mean it was the only console available? I tried really hard to get my hands on a $200 PS4 with Spiderman/Red Dead 2 but black friday stock ran out even before black friday started, cyber monday stock ran out sunday... And every restock usually ran out within minutes...
I have seen a lot of people complaining about that on Twitter too, either it was all a scam-undersupply-ploy or scalpers were on full force.
It's kind of funny to say X console sold the most when you can't even buy the one you want...
Good to see the big N getting results!
I’m not usually one to say back in my day but kids toys these days suck. No wonder LEGO is cleaning up.
At number #3 on Cyber Monday...so where is xbox and ps4 pro? Looks like they failed miserably here if they expect to catch Switch off guard.
@Criso_93
There were plenty of PS4 ‘s available. Not being able to buy one bundle is making excuses. If people wanted a PS4 enough to be willing to pay for it they could get one.
That is pretty amazing considering there was no real price cut. Bundles sure but nothing like the twins were getting. Two of my coworkers bought one (both said they were envious watching me play mine on lunch)
I had to google fingerlings... i never saw that in my life... 29 years in the earth, and now i find out this exists...
When I checked the other day, Neon Switch was the number 1 best selling product across the whole video games category on Amazon UK.
I'm still waiting for more pricedrop tbh.... same goes for Xbox X and Ps4... they get my attention, but I ain't paying that much for what they offer for. Well Maybe i'll be skipping all 3 this time....
@IronMan30,
I like the way you said the console was selling fairly well in the U.S and Japan,bit of an understatement that imo.
@Ryu_Niiyama,
People always overlook the fact the Switch has nor recieved an official price cut,although these same people were banging on about how the Switch would not sell at $299 before launch.
@OorWullie And a handful is all you'll get! Those LOL dolls are so overpriced its untrue (except... its true). Most of it is packaging, seriously the amount of disposable plastic in these things is just horrible. Still, I'm a man of questionable principles, and my daughter absolutely loves them, so....
Considering the best deals in the UK were a bundle with Mario Kart and Let's Go for £300 at VERY and a bundle with Zelda and Mario Kart for £300 at AO via eBay, I'd say that's a really good result for Nintendo.
However, I can't help but feel they've missed an opportunity at the same time. I really can't understand why no-one had a Switch with Let's Go at £250, unless I missed it? I'm convinced that was the deal people were looking for, but it never came... You could get a Switch for £250, but nothing to play on it.
Heck, they could have bundled 1-2 Switch with the console for £250 and that would have done a number... It's retail as much as Nintendo that are at fault here mind. Truly a missed opportunity, but still a great performance.
Incidentally... Mario Kart, Mario Odyssey, Zelda, Splatoon, ARMS, Kirby, Tennis, LABO, more than a handful of AAA 3rd party ports, more than a handful of AAA Nintendo ports, and a handful of indie titles that have cut through to mainstream only highlight the missed opportunity further...
Get the console in people's hands, and the games will attach.
Fair play to VERY and AO for at least going with the 2 game at £300 bundle, but Amazon and especially GAME, Smyths Toys and Argos have missed out big time. And grocery apparently didn't bother at all...? Madness.
@Alucard83 I don't think you're alone in waiting to be honest... Out of curiosity, whats the magic number for you with Switch? Would a £250 bundle with one major game (e.g. Mario Odyssey) have been enough?
Still have an OG Furby. He sits in my drawer and sleeps.
Again, all I can say is I'm glad everyone is succeeding. 2019 will be another great year.
@johnvboy Yep I remember hearing things like "At this price point it's destined to fail!", "Nobody will pay €299/$299/£279. Nobody!" and of course "Well that's pretty much guaranteed the Switch will be DOA".
Where are those people? Oh "and once all the fanbois pick up theirs it will fall off a cliff". It's catching the Xbox One rapidly in less than 2 years and will overtake the PS4 in Japan in no time at all. But yeah, it's doomed.
With Switch at #3 that is pretty darn good ahead of computer and laptop.
"As Twinfinite notes, there's no guarantee this will make the Switch the most popular video game system during this period, as the above information is limited to online sales data."
Their OverLords must've saw this and pouted at them. I think their own words already said it would be popular selling console to come.
@WiltonRoots,
The people who post on internet forums tend to look at things from a core hobby gamers perspective,never realizing they are in fact a minority of the overall buying public.
The poster on here Gaterboi has never been seen since all of his Switch sales doom predictions have not come true.
Another issue is the core minority fear change,unless it's the typical console power boost from generation to generation,ie Ps3 to Ps4 etc.
They feel if the Nintendo Switch is very popular it could influence Sony and Microsoft to go in a similar direction,it's very similar to all the fuss about the new Pokemon's go games,the core are scared that if they sell very well that the developers will lose interest in making the more mainline Pokemon titles.
@JaxonH well we've seen this sort of flux before in the past 5 years. The second year of PS4 xb1 for example. Xb1 outsold PS4 on black Friday and Xbox 1. PS4 had on going sales and bundles that weren't restricted to the holiday weekend and parents just grabbing the latest gadget for their kids. For that month of November we ended up finding out that not only did PS4 out sell Xbox one, it crushed Xbox one. Ever since I've taken this data with a grain of salt as I see the month long sales eclipsing black Friday and Cyber Monday. You can see this reflected in other retailers. Amazon had it's sales for well over a week. Walmart 2 weeks. I think the only story I could find sticking hard to one day sales was GameStop.
I'm a somewhat anecdotal bit of evidence I got a second PS4 for 200 the week prior to black Friday. The spiderman game I already owned and I'm gifting it to my brother in law. I now have a PS4 at my parents home when I come visit. Makes my life easier as I've been flying out there a lot of late. I didn't wait till black Friday or Cyber Monday.
Anyway I'm simply saying these numbers are not worth getting excited over. Sales outside of black Friday and Cyber Monday tend to lure in customers and at times the days themselves aren't as big boons to the bottom line. Like with the Xbox one and PS4 a few years back. They did alright, but the majority of their sales came before and after those days were tallied.
