This should have been a golden opportunity for Nintendo to go; "Celebrate Mario's 40th, with Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 in 4k!" Show off the horsepower of a new console, get us all hyped for the next generation of Mario. Not including "HD" in the branding is a massive marketing mistake here.
If I was to describe the Metroidvania genre to a single word, it would be "labyrinth." I'm missing the part where driving a bike around open terrain like it's the Mako from Mass Effect, sticks to the concept of "labyrinth."
What I wanted from a Metroid game with modern hardware - a complex detailed labyrinth full of secrets. The kind of 3D world that Super Metroid fuelled my imagination with. What I'm getting - Metroid Akira Slide edition.
What is the usual turnaround between a game release, and that game's soundtrack for sale? Until Mario Kart and Donkey Kong's ost's go on sale, and Nintendo make some money from that, you won't see those games on Nintendo Music.
200cc didn't work in Mario Kart 8, because none of the tracks were designed with 200cc in mind. Mario Kart World did have the opportunity to change that, especially with the whole "drive to the next course" thing they have going on. They'll probably add it in a patch if sales are bad or they've properly stabilised the online servers.
I didn't know what to expect, but I felt underwhelmed. Maybe because the free roam felt like the biggest change to Mario Kart, so it had the most to prove. What seems to be the biggest feature are the DS style missions, which was nice but that's it. I thought they might have had some kind of custom cup creator, that you could share through Online Tournaments. Really didn't like all the whole outfits mechanic, just Nintendo thinking that something that exists to squeeze money from whales in a mobile game, it's a good idea to put it in a full console game. They could have least given the Cow a name. What I will say that is positive, is that the music sounded excellent and I'm very much looking forward to the game being added to Nintendo Music, hopefully sooner than later.
Give it a year, and when Nintendo fail to meet their sale targets, they will react by introducing a "Game Voucher 2" system that will work with Switch 2 titles, but at a higher price.
1. Has Joy Con drift been eradicated? 2. What is the account transfer process like? How can I transfer my Switch account from my Switch 1, to 2, as I trade-in my old console? 3. If the Zelda updates are free to Expansion Pass tier, are they lost if the subscription isn't renewed? Will they require an internet check each time I try to play them? 4. If I have no interest in Gamechat, can the mic be turned off, or is it always listening to me?
I really wish Tears had some sort of serious update. At worst it could have been a "Master Mode" like Breath had. At best it could have been a DLC pack, using the extra hardware power with extra shrines, more story content focused in the Deeps, more rooms you could add to your house. A mobile app, where you a few locations will give me some extra lore, isn't enough to make me go for the upgrade.
This is exactly what the interface should be when you do that first time set up on the new console. Something to explore whilst the console downloads all the old digital games, save data etc from your old Switch account in the background. This is just the answer to the question; "What if we copied Astro's Playroom, but got rid of all of those fun, vibrant platforming levels, and replaced them with bits where we explain how our patents work?"
@Razzy I got mine in a sale years ago, thinking the 256GB version could pay for itself with all the digital games I got with the vouchers. It not being Switch 2 compatible is a big no for me early adopting it.
Have Micro Express SD card ever been released for the original Switch? I've been trying to work out which version my card is, but it's so small it's really hard to read!

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 Prices Are Live, And It's Sticker Shock Time
Are these HD remasters, or are they literal ports of the original Wii games?

Re: Nintendo Music Update Adds 26 "Old-School" NES And Famicom Game Albums
On the plus side, this is 26 weeks we've avoided where Nintendo go, "This week, here's 1 NES soundtrack. Enjoy!"

Is this the first time in any console, where you need a paid subscription service for a button on a controller to work?
