@EXP you mean character, right? it needs to grow on you, playing Paper Mario on emulator to ttyd on game cube was somewhat jarring, I didn't feel "at home." but, eventually you see the soul in the game, (which is not always pronounced.)
@Monkey_Balls people seem content with NX being 5 tFLOPS seeing as neo is "leaked" at 4tFLOPS who cares about scorpio, it'd be interesting to see what PS uses 6TFLOPS for instead. Nintendo however has plans with NX. call it a rebirth of the NES.
@-DEMISE- but it is honorable, they made the North American market, after Atari was sold to Commodore. Nintendo saw the birth of a rivalry that jokingly continues to this day, Nintendo got beat by a young upstart named Sony who went out to Arcade publishers and got them on the PlayStation, which injected casual gamers of all stripes, and championed the audio CD's dominance, Microsoft saw Sony topple Nintendo the seat of modern video gaming, and released Xbox to temper Sony. Nintendo will continue with making consoles, its a life line and its good to benefit from Mobile sales as well as 3DS. this also looks good to existing investors. and improves morale. now, Sony is not the young upstart they were... there is holes left after the death of the home arcade experience, and mech games as panzer dragoon and Omega Boost has fallen into obscurity. Liberation maiden and kid Icarus hold it up but star fox is needing to be unchained by SF64 and level 5 are ify on handhelds. (not sure if liberation maiden 2 is even in development) Sony hasn't returned to the magic PlayStation so if Nintendo pull either an Ultra NES, Nintendo 64 mk2, Game cube mk 2 or conjure up an Nintendo Play Station Sony will be in deep trouble, Nintendo can reinvent themselves and if they do any of those consoles, the PS4 and Neo will be in dire straits. so much so that not even a PS5 will handle the NX let alone the Scorpio... likely sell even 80-100 Million depending on the games NX has on the table... even more if mobile integration is successful...
@outsider83 basically years of soul searching is finally bearing fruit... Nintendo going Nes makes me think of BOTW as well (considering every Zelda project since SS was to prepare Zelda team for the debut of BOTW.) plus, NES was where Nintendo built its empire... so it stands to reason that Nintendo is retooling the NX to stand for the past and the modern era of Nintendo... this is so exciting. much more than a Scorpio (any PC with a 9TF 1080 will tell you that.)
@whodatninja actually, Niantic labs has Nintendo as a share holder, they have a 20 million option (with a 10 million extra if they want to.) Niantic is like NintendoXGoogle as they can do AR and R&D that tech...
it might've come from Google and Nintendo being worried about Apple... and they both are in synchronicity in terms of innovation.
@Monkey_Balls basically, its a release of a console from the golden age and with the wii U getting somewhat of a dry period to the console... the mini NES will basically become the face of Nintendo till the NX drops. in short, the wii U is dead by November.
@KarolMcD I thought it was to stay "competitive" seeing as telcos are feeling the revolution of AR now...
those who embrace Pokémon GO will see short term gains and when GO is more stable, a long term lock in of profit.
Pokémon is the 2nd or maybe dethroning Mario now... largest franchise in the world.
2016 at least is more the year of Pokémon than Zelda (oh well.) and TPCI are smart in their planning... Pokémon GO will be updated soon (trading and stability patches) at least the app isn't a sink hole like Miitomo but IS a time sink....
@sillygostly I have Telstra in Australia, so so far, we arte beginning to see serous integration hell, real estate are talking about adding proximity to pokestops as a feature.
this is the uncanny valley.... there is no turning back...
@Turbo857 star fox 0 was poorly received by the core Nintendo fans, the wii saw an exodus of core fans leave for Xbox and PlayStation. SS lost to Skyrim but morrowind and Oblivion failed to outsell Zelda up to that point.
"justify" is used loosely but in terms of what I know it means widely received (which is at this moment differs from opinion to opinion.)
@Monkey_Balls Nintendo is using a retro console to kick start sales of the wii and wii U, and while this will work, its obvious, GO provided the much needed exposure.
@Robotron2084 its a piece of history, durable and very sleek (considering its size.) the whole idea makes sense considering the plug and play aspect, I have fallen by the wayside, my idea of Video games has been challenged and I finally understand why I want to go retro (while waiting for the NX)
Nintendo will make coinage and despite a limited run in Australia, Nintendo should provide both VC and consoles... but likely, this will be the thing going forward. they could make an OS and link it to the internet to make VC purchases separate from the main console business (Nintendo wants to avoid as much cannibalization of their VC offerings. )
@Nintendofan83 60 million+ and what it does is ingenious Pokémon GO is bare bones compared to the 3DS game, yes, but the 3DS game is a far cry from gen I, and brings in a new blueprint, how Pokémon GO works is it uses Pokémon in the same way the Pokémon games work. this generates interest in the IP and so bleeds into other media like TGC, Anime, Video Games, merchandising. don't forget, Pokémon GO hasn't hit global release and so, theres that factor... but don't forget, Pokémon's 20th Anniversary this means video games sales will jump because of the rapid success of Pokémon GO
@faint exactly, it has put Pokémon firlmly in the hands of a full generation and that is trickling into other facets, expect the TGC and the merchandising to increase, Pokémon is a global brand and is truly a transmedia giant, Mario also has this power. don't forget Shaymin this month... n.n and don't forget, to RIDE THE LIGHTNING!!!
@Yorumi perhaps we need to look at AR like what Nintendo sees from AR... businesses as we speak are using the AR app to bolster their own economy... and this lends into a Macrocosm of users both existing in GO and Real Life basically it has become the second life of apps on mobile.
people are luring GO users using adverts and pokestops as well as lures.
this makes a solid a base of an economy circulating through GO.
@Yorumi I have seen enough, and Pokémon GO shows me that Nintendo is on the money with emerging tech, so much that AR is having an effect on VR... why? its easier to use (low barrier of entry.) has the brand to champion the cause, the PCI is definitely looking at Pokémon GO and making the strategy to funnel GO users into Pokebank then into Sun and Moon.
@Sun_wukong I don't think Level 5 will have an easy time combating Pokémon GO, even Sony is having second thoughts, hell, Activision just saw its acquisition of King get devalued. AR in silicon valley are celebrating the AR app's success.
@Yorumi Trauma center, Pikmin, some FPS. motion controls is tilt, and gyrosensors which is standard in most devices, pedometers and accelerometers are also included.
Dual Shock 4 was gyros and 3DS has gyros to aim like a game pad. DS4 also had the touch pad and the light bar used in PS camera.
@ricklongo AR isn't as much as a gimmick, its an "evolution" noted in many games study journals, from Silicon Valleys view, they saw AR "breaking out" who knew 3 weeks later when Pokémon GO launched, AR broke out, (like the Wii was for motion controls.)
the question is the impact AR will have on VR? I bet Sony wasn't expecting this.... Pokémon GO currently is no 1 world wide

@rjejr that seems to be the direction Nintendo wants to go to, what made Nintendo fun that seems to have been missing amidst the wii brand strategy.

@Kirk well, the New 3ds had perfect pixel mode added, to the SNES VC.

Re: Weirdness: It's Crazy To Think That Pokémon GO Wouldn't Exist Without Google's April Fool's Prank
its fun, yes people are not watching where lures are (some questionable areas have lures on their Poke stops. )
on the app, you can now log in with your Pokémon Official Play ID (this means the Pokémon league might be next... n.n)
who wants to be the very best, like no one ever was? (although that describes Pokémon GO's success to a T.)

@Turbo857 both games failed to justify its new dynamic control scheme.
SFZ had issues with calibration
SS was outsold by Skyrim.

@Yorumi it may happen, but I prefer full on AR over a RPG section, hell, if they implement trading and battling like the RPGS, people will be fine.
Re: Pokémon GO Global Rollout To Resume In The Next Few Days, Trading Element Coming Later
@rjejr what about the Mini nes, (yes, I preordered it, I'm shocked that it has gotten into Australia...?)
that said, the preorder collectors editions have gone live. so I transferred.

Re: Nintendo Share Value Continues Rapid Ascent Amid Bold Estimates of Pokémon GO Revenues
@Yorumi they aren't, they will build a feature into the gameplay but will not make game based on the feature over what the appeal of the game is.
that's why Starfox 0 and Skyward sword failed....
options are good, but smart options are better.
