Re: Random: Switch 2 Leakers Called Out By Industry Veteran Hideki Kamiya

GotchaForce4

I agree in part with what he means but it's a part of the culture now, for better or worse.
No one was saying this stuff a day ago, only in hindsight.
Obviously it wouldn't have been that crazy of a reveal anyway considering it's mostly an iterative successor so honestly it probably benefited Nintendo in the end since there was so much free publicity.

Re: Feature: Exploring The "Switch Tax" And Why Nintendo Was Right to Use Game Cards

GotchaForce4

I don't actually have a Switch yet, but I plan to buy one next weekend. Stock is not so short in the part of Southern Michigan where I do my shopping.

I don't fully understand why people are so surprised that Switch game cards cost a bit more considering what they enable the consumer to do in return.

When I got my N64 in 1997, I remember spending $70 at the time for Super Mario 64 and Star Wars Shadow of the Empire.
Considering inflation over time that has to equal at least $90 now, right?

Re: Miiverse: Super Metroid - Too Taxing For Today's Gamers?

GotchaForce4

lol Very interesting thesis my good m8 but i can't help but feel sorry for current and (god forbid) future youths.
not long back i was playing duke nuke'm 64 (not sure if that was big in UK) and after i let my young brother try it and he immediately asked how to change the look sensitivity and where to find auto-aim.

I nearly wept.

Re: Talking Point: Wii U Gamers Have Been Treated Poorly By The Third-Party Retail Scene, But The System Still Brings Joy

GotchaForce4

A good console launch is a prerequisite to 3rd Party support. Nobody should blame Nintendo fans! I bought my Wii U this past January along with NSMBU, MK8, Smash Wii, Ninja Gaiden 3 and Deus Ex.
The responsibility of the Wii Us current circumstances rests solely on Nintys shoulders not the people who took a risk and supported them! I sold my PS4 and games to buy Wii U and i'm totally happy with my decision!!

Re: Talking Point: Raw Power Isn't Vital to Nintendo's NX, But It Does Matter

GotchaForce4

Nintendo can't have its cake and eat it too. The reason to own a console is the software library and a single publisher can't keep up with the demand for quality franchises without third party support so this console needs to be more accessible to developers and also less expensive than competitors to avoid confusing the consumer.
I'm buying it no matter what!!

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Asks for Fan Trust With Metroid Prime: Federation Force

GotchaForce4

No such thing as bad press! I would love to play a Metroid Prime game that doesn't require motion controls. Of course I don't even own a 3DS. NLG probably don't give a poopoocadoodle about what people are saying. At least the game is making a splash rather than being ignored. Passion is a good thing and hell, I wouldn't be surprised if many people buy it to be ironic lol

Re: Project H.A.M.M.E.R. Exposé Reveals Torrid State Of Affairs At Nintendo Software Technology

GotchaForce4

Racism cuts both ways but Westerners are more generally more globally minded whereas Nintendo's Japanese execs seem less willing to take risks but I think it's a little short-sighted to blame only a handful of management staff when they clearly learned this way of thinking somewhere else. Development culture in America and Europe are leaning more towards innovation while Eastern publishers tend to play it safe and limit creative freedom in favor of a sure-thing derived from past experiences.

@chris_of_ws
I was hesitant to ask these questions at first but you seem like a cool cat. Bear in mind that I have no experience with game design, but are consumers supposed to buy a new title from you after seeing what qualifies as a "finished" product in your book? Shouldn't the game that people have already paid for take precedence over a new IP? Reputation is everything in a focused community like the Wii U consumer base. Good luck and thanks for following through with responses as opposed to leaving us dead in the water.
P.S I bought the game and respect the direction of it, just surprised at the lack of variety and intuition.

Re: Review: Super Mario 64 (Wii U eShop / N64)

GotchaForce4

@earthboundlink
I agree with you 100% on the eye-opening experience that SM 64 was when I got my N64 as a kid. I had the previous two Nintendo consoles but just like you, I rented a PS and played Frogger and some other crappy 2.5D shovelware and was completely unimpressed. The only game to touch the immersion in Mario 64 was OoT, and only because of the lessons Ninty learned from the revolutionary scope of 3D Mario. Worthy review of the Citizen Kane of 3d gaming!

Re: Interview: Warren Spector Discusses Game Choices, Development Leadership and Shigeru Miyamoto

The concepts he covered in this article could inspire people in many lines of work. Instead of trying to force originality artificially, he lets them be themselves, which allows creativity to flow without the limitation of a linear thought-processes that are more likely to end up shallow or contrite. I would love to chat with such an iconoclast. Great read so far Alan!

Re: Super Mario Maker

GotchaForce4

I can't wait for this to but I'm hesitant to pay $60 for a level creator (albeit an amazingly deep one) and 100 random levels with no real continuity. I admit that the possibilities are limitless in the creation mode. I agree that the ability to upload/download custom courses is priceless but after buying a sealed copy of NSMBU+LU for 50 USD back in February, I have high standards about retail games. Anyone else feel me on this?

Re: Review: Cube Life: Island Survival (Wii U eShop)

GotchaForce4

Definitely going to pick this one up. I'm not a big fan of creating but I like the idea of a more tangible narrative in the survival mode, which is the only way I play these games. One question, if you don't mind: When you mentioned local multiplayer did you mean for both modes? Thank you!

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Approach to Transforming Franchises Clashes With Fan Expectations

GotchaForce4

This article is composed of 1 part supposition, and 1 part speculation conjured up from said supposition. We know very little about MPFF at present but I think we can rest assured that the plot will interesect or coincide in some way with Samus' exploits.

Obviously folks were surprised a formal MP installment was eschewed, but a new perspective into the Metroid Prime universe might me a welcome surprise. Who became king of the universe and decided Samus MUST be in every Metroid game? The series isn't called "Samus Prime" ya know?

It's not like Nintendo decided to make FF INSTEAD of a traditional installment. They are both in the works, the timing is just off a bit.

I understand the frustration but why even waste energy complaining when we know so little? Like, I'm still sore over the Zelda delay/lack of announcement but I don't feel like I need to crucify anything over it! lol
