Re: Bayonetta's OG Voice Actor Asks Fans To "Boycott" Third Game After PlatinumGames Wage Fallout

GalacticBreakdown

I hope I'm not the only one that recognizes the tactics PG used here. I feel like, if this account is accurately portrayed, that PG didn't want her to return, for whatever reason. So rather than not offer her the role at all, not allow her to audition, or tell her she's being replaced..... they offered her something they knew she'd reject. So then they can recast with their choice & say they still offered her the role. It's a pretty manipulative business tactic but it seems pretty common in the entertainment industry. Because you know Jennifer Hale didn't get paid 4k....she got paid a fair wage because she was the VA they actually wanted.

I don't really have a particular affinity for Bayonetta & didn't plan on buying this at release, so I don't really see a problem with them wanting to recast the VA but I'm sure fans do. They just went about doing it poorly & disrespectfully.

Re: Video: Here's Another Look At Dragon Ball: Kakarot Running On Switch

GalacticBreakdown

@Bret it's weird because you say you agree, that those things aren't all you care about.... then you claim Switch only hosts an "inferior" versions of multiplatform games. I get what you mean, as in performance, but for any great/good game, especially games that are not big budget AA games, the game should pretty much be the same on Switch. I've played a ton of Hades and Dead Cells and I genuinely don't know what you're talking about with frame rate dips or slow down, even during chaotic sequences in Hades. It's completely subjective if those games are "inferior" on Switch. It just seems weird that you'd imply Hades is worse on Switch yet I feel like that's what most people chose to play it on. I can understand your point on games like Doom Eternal, Wolfenstein, or Fortnite....but Hades & Dead Cells are not games I feel like are compromised on Switch much at all.

Re: Review: Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! - A Cute And Absolutely Horrifying Dating Sim

GalacticBreakdown

I just bought this from the eshop after seeing this review score (I avoided the rest of the review) and hearing the creator/dev talk about it on the IGN's Nintendo Voice Chat podcast. I'm going in blind for the most part, I'm not big on visual novels, not a big anime fan, and I'm truly baffled as to why this is such a good horror game. I'm a big horror fan and am very much looking forward to trying this out after I'm off work in a few hours. Been trying to get into visual novels, I want some stuff to play through on the Switch when I'm tired & don't need crazy fast reflexes/reaction times & can just chill out & click through the story. I've got this & Phoenix Wright on deck, so hopefully they turn me on to the genre. Thanks for the review! You definitely helped sell me on a game that I usually would've passed right over & never thought twice about it.

Re: Review: Winds of Change - A Polished, Absorbing, Animal-Filled Visual Novel

GalacticBreakdown

I don't really understand the point of coming into this review to just bag on this or on a fandom. I just don't get it, some people must really feel voiceless IRL, need attention on the internet, or have nothing better to do. If I'm not into something, I don't usually feel the need to express it. Sure, I have the privilege on here to do it but I just don't really feel the desire to do it. To each his own, if I like something or am interested in something, I'll express that.... but I don't usually express any negativity. I'd rather not put my energy into doing that or putting that out into the world. Life is too short to spend my time doing that. I'd rather spend it discussing my interests or things I enjoy. I wish the community here would do the same because reading these comments.....it was disappointing. I thought the community here was more inclusive, mature, and open minded.

Re: Talking Point: How Good Are You At Games?

GalacticBreakdown

I love games but admittedly I'm not very good at them lol. I love old school platformers & metroidvania games but sometimes the difficulty can be off putting. I'm playing through Ori and The Blind Forest right now and I've actually caught on quite quick with it and am getting through it pretty well. I blazed through Katana Zero but I've gotten stuck on Messenger recently. I tend to gravitate towards RPGs like Dragon Quest XI or Fire Emblem where they can be challenging at times but usually they're pretty tame & you simply enjoy the experience. I've definitely been scared to get in something like Dark Souls or anything marketed on it's challenge.

I've started playing Fortnite on Switch recently and I'm kinda shocked that I seem to be decent in it, coming in the top 10 in most matches.

Re: Devolver Digital's New Game Has Been Banned In Australia

GalacticBreakdown

I really do trust Devolver as a publisher, I haven't regretted a single purchase I've made of their games. Every game I've played from them has been great some have been absolutely amazing. Especially their 2D games like Messenger, Katana Zero, Carrion, Gato Roboto, Broforce, Pichuniku, and even Hotline Miami are among the best of their genre on Switch which is really saying something. Ruiner is pretty great too, I've got Stories Untold & My Friend Pedro on my backlog. I love their aesthetic & variation in the things they publish, so I've definitely been eyeing this game quite a bit. With my backlog & Fortnite habit, it's just hard for me to justify buying a new game but if anyone could convince me, it'd be Devolver.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 15th)

GalacticBreakdown

Playing Subnautica, one of my biggest fears is being stranded in the ocean & I've always been captivated by any under sea setting, so I'll be trying it out. I picked up South Park The Stick of Truth on sale and I'm shocked at how good of an RPG it is.....having watched the show since I was a kid, it's amazing how authentic it is. I also picked up Fractured after I got into it simply so I could play it after. Also got Mario + Rabbids Kingdom on sale. Some New Pokemon Snap, trying to get into Hyperlight Drifter, Dead Cells, and we'll see what else. May play some Dragon Quest XI and get back into Monster Hunter Rise.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 8th)

GalacticBreakdown

Some Dragon Quest XI (15 hours in), Oxenfree (getting more into point & click type games as non-taxing games to play before bed), New Pokemon Snap, Super Smash Bros, and Pokken Tournament DX that I just picked up after I learned you could play it with an arcade stick, so I plan on whipping out my Power A Fusion Arcade Stick for it. I also picked up Ghostbusters Remastered physical recently, so may try that out

Re: A Record 57 LEGO Ideas Sets Are Being Reviewed, And Yes, That Includes Zelda LEGO

GalacticBreakdown

@screechums Lol and what if I am? There are things called "collectors" that span all pop culture mediums, I know I don't gotta explain that to you. I'm assuming you're young and probably don't make your own money or something like that...Because you might think it's stupid to spend that kinda money on Legos but with that same argument, I could argue how stupid you are for saving up for an entire year to buy something that's a big toy for playing freaking games. I don't actually think that, to be clear. But js....our hobbies are not more valid than others.

Re: A Record 57 LEGO Ideas Sets Are Being Reviewed, And Yes, That Includes Zelda LEGO

GalacticBreakdown

@screechums why do you care so much about what other people spend money on & how much it costs? If people who buy legos get enjoyment outta them, why does that make them an idiot? I have friends who put them together in their spare time as something to focus their mind on that's stimulating, it's kinda like a meditation practice for them. I don't know how much money they've spent on them but I don't care either, if they enjoy it, cool. I buy & read comic books and buy video games....we don't consider those toys or kids stuff, because we enjoy them. People who don't, probably do.

Re: Ni No Kuni II Might Be Coming To Switch

GalacticBreakdown

@Casual_Gamer95 because like me, they don't own multiple platforms to play games on. I know that's hard to understand when you're not an adult but I'd much rather pay a "Switch tax" or wait for a discount rather than not being able to play at all or until I can get another console. It's a privlege & luxury to own multiple ways to play video games. I'm happy that you have the means to scoff at such things but your reaction to this kinda shows a lack of maturity & awareness of others. It's especially ironic considering the user name you chose.

Re: Every Single Bethesda Game On Switch Is Currently On Sale

GalacticBreakdown

I bought Doom Eternal when it was first released in December and it was definitely one of my favorite games I've played on the Switch. Definitely worth the 30 bucks. I picked up Doom 2016 on this sale as the physical seems to be a little difficult to get ahold of and a used copy on Amazon is 60 bucks. It's weird going backwards because Eternal seems like a step up from it but still I'm enjoying it. I own Skyrim & Wolfenstein physical but still good prices for Switch copies. I'd buy Wolfenstein Young blood but I've not heard good things about it, so I'm passing on that. Otherwise, awesome to see AAA games made decently accessible and affordable on the Switch.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 10th)

GalacticBreakdown

I just started playing Warframe too this week after I upgraded my SD card to 512gb. I've got a friend who has put literally over 5,000 hours into that game and it's almost all he plays on Switch. He's urged me to pick it up often and I finally gave it a shot now that I've got more storage and wow, what a phenomenal free to play game. I should've gotten in on it a long time ago. It's truly remarkable it's free, I love the gameplay, combat, the frenetic pace, and bite-size missions.... I really cannot find a bad thing to say about it. After just a few hours, it seems like there is a truly staggering amount of depth to the game so I'm a little worried about being really far behind but it does seem like it's super easy to just come in blind & at least have a lot of fun with it, unlike some other online multiplayer games I've tried (Fortnite). I'm not sure why I don't hear it mentioned more, a game of this quality being free seems like it'd be more popular. I wasn't surprised to see the Panic Button logo on it.

I still need to get further into MH: Rise but I've been playing a lot of Wrestling Empire, finishing up my playthrough of Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu, knocking out things in my first playthrough of BOTW after I bought a set of NFC Amiibo cards (loving playing with Wolf Link), and jumping in & out of The Messenger to scratch my retro itch. I picked up the Pokemon Sword DLC Expansion in anticipation of coming back to it after finishing up on Let's Go, which I've done Friday night, all I've got left after the 4 Elite trainers after you get all 8 badges. I picked up Diablo III: Eternal Collection & Ni No Kuni: Wrath of The White Witch on the eshop sale, I plan on at least trying out Diablo & creating a character this weekend. Ni No Kuni I couldn't pass up again for 12 bucks after I did on it's last sale, the game looked too good to be that cheap. Besides that, I'm sure tomorrow afternoon/evening my friends/roommates and I will play some four player Mario Kart 8 & SSBU or Super Mario 3D World before we watch the first night of Wrestlemania Saturday, then likely repeat that Sunday afternoon before Night Two. Looks to be a fun, entertaining weekend for sure!

Re: Review: RetroMania Wrestling - A Faithful But Limited NostalgiaFest

GalacticBreakdown

I'm a big pro wrestling fan and was super excited to pick this up. I prefer more simulation but this is in no ways a bad game, you can clearly see it's a labor of love by the devs. It's definitely a game that I play in bite sized portions and struggle to put long sessions on it. But considering the lack of wrestling games, this and Wrestling Empire are definitely the best on Switch. I absolutely love Empire and the fact the dev updates it regularly with all sorts of new match types, weapons, moves, and other content, Empire is growing into one of my most played Switch games.

Re: Poll: Monster Hunter Rise Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?

GalacticBreakdown

I pre-ordered it Thursday to get the trio of bonuses and have it downloaded & ready to go for when I get off of work today. I played demo #2 and even though it was SUPER challenging & I wasn't able to defeat the monster, I was very impressed with the game itself, with both the graphics & gameplay. Loved the wirebug mechanic & the dog/cat who are with you. This is my first MH game, I thought about getting MHGU but it seemed just too daunting & long for me to set aside time for. This seemed like a much more accessible entry point for me as a newcomer and like it'll be fun & enjoyable even for someone new to the series. From the demo though, I know one thing, I will not be using the big sword that is super slow to swing. I couldn't hardly land a single blow with any accuracy, I'll definitely be choosing a faster, lighter weapon when I start out. Maybe the twin blades. Excited to play tonight & hoping to play some multiplayer as well, if you can on a single system with multiple controllers, if so I'm definitely getting my roommates to play with me.

Re: Memory Pak: Looking Into The Light In Super Mario 64

GalacticBreakdown

Mario 64 is how I became a fan of the franchise and Nintendo. I had a Genesis growing up and then a PlayStation. I asked for & got a 64 for X-Mas because I wanted WCW/NWO Revenge, Goldeneye, and Mario Kart. Mario 64 was included in the bundle with my console, so I played it and loved it, much more than I liked Crash Bandicoot. The only other single player platformer that I had a similar experience with was Sonic Adventure that launched with Sega Dreamcast, which I wish was on Switch.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 6th)

GalacticBreakdown

@lovesushi I just bought ARMS and Splatoon 2 myself. I bought ARMS because the motion control scheme really interested me because I did a little boxing training as a teenager, I love it! I've yet to venture into the online game but I've been playing the single player Grand Prix in-between play sessions of other games and it's a great change of pace & a beautiful game! The characters are really full of personality and all have interesting differences in their play styles. I can also see how the gameplay & combat can have a shocking amount of depth when you get deeper into it, it's very easy to learn but seems a challenge to master & perfect. If you get it and need someone to play against, get at me!

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life eShop Selects - February 2021

GalacticBreakdown

@Noelemahc oh my bad, yeah I was speaking of AVP. Got my abbreviations mixed up. Oddly enough though now, the publishing rights for Aliens & Predator is now with Marvel, they're doing the current comics not Dark Horse. I'm not sure how the licensing works but that would be nifty if Capcom could now make a deal with Marvel to publish both games again. Yeah the only MvC release I've seen are on the 1up Arcade cabinet releases.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 27th)

GalacticBreakdown

@realityxaidan my favorite Switch game so far too, even though I was late to the party getting it. I'm on my first playthrough, chose Black Eagles, and sided with Eldegard. I'm super interested in what would've happened if I chose differently and to see the events from another perspective. I'm very rarely interested in playing games a second time through but Fire Emblem feels like it'd be a completely different game if I chose another house, so I'm sure I'll do it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 27th)

GalacticBreakdown

I picked up some new stuff from the eshop during the sale I'll definitely be playing like Huntdown & Iconoclasts, I was able to get Iconoclasts for free by cashing in my Gold Points since it was on sale for 6 bucks. Haven't started it yet but have made it through 3 bosses in Huntdown which I love so far! Love the 80's post-apocalyptic "Warriors/Total Recall/RoboCop" vibe. Great game so far and hilarious!

I picked up SM3DW yesterday along with a pre-owned copy of Arms, so I'll play both of those. Put some time into Splatoon 2 & Pokemon Sword due to the new announcements. Then Saturday night my roomates & I will definitely be playing Mario Kart then probably Super Smash Bros, Streets of Rage 4 or Scott Pilgrim, Wrestling Empire, and maybe Mortal Kombat 11, DBZ FighterZ, BlazBlue, or Guilty Gear as after I upgraded to the PowerA Arcade Stick, I now have an extra Hori Fight Stick Mini so we can play co-op with fight sticks. I'll definitely be trying to play all I can on my days off.

Re: Review: Bravely Default II - An Excellent Old-School JRPG That's Happy To Play It Safe

GalacticBreakdown

I'm very interested in this but tomorrow I can only afford two games, Mario/Fury is one...and I'll probably go with Persona 5 Strikers over this, I've yet to buy a warriors game and it's one I'm actually interested in because it's the only Persona game available on Switch & they seemed to put effort into making it a unique game apart from the other DW games. But I'll definitely pick this up in the future, I love turn-based/strategy RPGs & have never played a Bravely game before.
